Thinking about the layers of hunger in dungeon meshi and the extent to which needs and hungers for such things as food and sleep and safety are explicitly intertwined with a desire for companionship and the gnawing fear of loneliness and isolation

That laios his whole life has feared and ached from loneliness, that he felt misunderstood and isolated within his own family and town, and that he finally thinks he's found understanding in dungeons, but it's been so limited

And like. The fact that dungeon meshi is a story about THINKING you're being fed when you're not. THINKING you're eating enough, when your nutrition isn't balanced and sufficient. THINKING you're loved and understood, when really you're just tolerated, or even politely reviled

Just as the dungeon itself like. SEEMS to offer life, seems to offer food and nutrition, but it's a half-life, a trapped life, that isn't truly fulfilling what it wants you to believe it is

It just makes a lot of sense why Marcille and Laios would be good friends, really, because Marcille Will Tell You What Is On Her Mind. If she doesn't like something, she throws a tantrum. If she's down to clown, she clowns like a champ. If she has an opinion, she voices it clearly and concisely. Laios knows exactly where Marcille stands in pretty much every topic.

On Marcille's end, she's down to clown more than people give her credit for. Laios said "yo let's play with these bones and rearrange them in funny ways" and Marcille joined right in. Like, yeah, she'll want to bonk his skull in sometimes, but aside from the monster and dungeon fascination, she's pretty much in the same wavelength as Laios when it comes to most things.

Which is cool! Because they could've made them hostile siblings in law but they are besties actually.

Marlene Dietrich “Dali” personally owned makeup compact “Bird in Hand” by Elgin American.

Brass compact features textured wings with gold painted tips and red enamel eyes. It opens to a mirror and unused pouf made of soft real feathers, with additional hinged compartment for pressed powder. A lipstick tube emerges from behind the bird’s head and the tail opens as a pillbox compartment. The name “Dali” is engraved and painted in black under the bird’s neck on the base of the lipstick tube, but no documentation exists to suggest Salvador Dali designed the bird, rather Ellison Irelan, Carl Fritz and Mortimer Vogelman are credited with the design. Compact dates to 1951.

Just saw a post talking about the "damage" Solas has done to the writing of Dragon Age because of his popularity and how the only thing he contributes to the series is essentially just being a condescending asshole. And like. Girl. He may not be your fav Inquisition companion, but don't act like the popularity of Solas fundamentally changed the series? Fen'harel was a very relevant lore figure for Origins and Dragon Age 2. I would argue that the build up to him becoming relevent to the plot is one of the only over-arching writing elements that holds up in the Dragon Age series given that the early games weren't written with the sequels in mind.

The little lore drops like his statue in the Dalish camp, the importance of the eluvians, Merril's ring, the links to Shartan, Solas joining the Inquisition in the exact way the Dalish warn that the Dreadwolf works- all that turn Dragon Age from a discombobulated series of compelling stories to a series where the lore and story intertwine in a beautiful way. I have my own reservations about the Dreadwolf game, but Solas being the catalyst that brings the Blight, the Fade, the religious disputes, and the mage issues into clarity, isn't bad writing. It ties all these seemingly separate elements together and finally explores the ways these topics overlap. While making the series tell one story over many games as opposed to random stories that feel irrelevant once the next segment is released.

I'm a bit of a trollop for angst BUT....I want our romance with Solas to bite us in the ass in Dreadwolf.

I want companions like Dorian to ultimately come to the conclusion Solas cannot be redeemed and he is unable to trust his best friend to make rational decisions regarding Solas when the whole world hangs in the balance. Their friendship begins to crack beneath the weight of her stubborn love.

I want the Inquisition, or whatever is left of it, to try and hush rising rumours that the Dreadwolf and the Inquisitior were intimate. Because the public are turning on the Inquisitior FAST. Finding out she was bedding the one who wants to destroy Thedas? The racism and sexism are more prevalent than ever. Public officials speak out that Lavellan can't be trusted. Graffiti on the buildings depicting "dreadwolf's whore" in crude writing and just HORRIBLE things that Lavellan can't stomach seeing. Their enemies taking full advantage of these rumours and destroying the reputation the Inquisitior had built in her fight for Corypheus.

I want Mythal or one of the Evanuris to also find out. The Dreadwolf had a lover? A mere mortal elf? The Evanuris FINALLY have something to use against Fen'harel. They target her, trying to kidnapp or downright murder her. Mythal managing to keep Solas on a tight leash reminding him she knows about Lavellan and she did drink from the Well of Sorrows.

I want to see how Lavellan cannot sleep because Solas might be tracking their movements or learning information when he follows her through dreams. Or how she's obsessively sleeping just to try and see him, talk to him, beg him to change his mind.

Yeah I want - no I NEED IT to have repercussions
