Thinking about finnick odair who never raises his voice at you, who, if you’re arguing—always makes sure to speak to you in a calm rational voice, never, ever raising it more than necessary.

you’re consistent, and you’re constant. he doesn’t have that in any other aspect of his life, not even his job—the mental horrors he has to face are always different, they’re always created in a different way that has his fears replenishing and being made anew—but you, you’re always home when he comes back, doing whatever it is you’re normally doing.

and it makes his heart ache with gratitude, that after every fight, every scar and every stab, you’re here. with him in this very moment, he isn’t sure what he did to deserve this, this—small—piece of heaven with you, lazy dinner dates, washing each other’s bodies in the bath, him helping you fold the laundry for the week, but most importantly, tracing your body, your face—feeling that you’re here, and that you’re present. he’ll go to every end of every universe if it meant just being aware of your presence.
