Intersectionality
Currently, I am in a social media course; MCO 335. This week we learned about intersectionality pertaining to race, gender, and politics on social media. "Intersectionality is the belief that oppressions are interlinked and cannot be solved alone" (Dobson, Miriam). The topic that specifically intrigued me was gender. While women are passionate about living in a more equalist world more specifically in career ventures, we are extremely segregated by race/ethnicity. As a white woman I can say that, while we still experience oppressions, opportunities are more achievable for us. As a woman, however, I want to see ALL women have the same opportunities to succeed and achieve their dreams. I feel that it is so important to work together and to support one another. Nothing will be achieved if we are all constantly at odds and essentially playing a game of comparison.
