Who is Dr Rey Diegas Galua?

Dr. Rey Diegas Galua was the fifth child of Mr. Hilario and Mrs. Geonita Galua, he was born in 1974 in Kitcharao, Northern Mindanao, Philippines. Architect Rey D. Galua was able to show qualities and excellence that set him on the architecture path.

He then spent most of his elementary days at San Roque Elementary School, located at barangay in the municipality of Kitcharao in the province of Agusan del Norte. Architect Rey Galua studied in high school at Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy, located at Kicharao, Agusan Del Norte. Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy acknowledged his excellence in mathematics skills and expertise, which resulted in him being given the excellent in mathematics award. Not only that, he finished high school with honors and was a gold medalist. Marking the end of his high school academic journey and the beginning of his intellectual life with architecture.

Architect Rey Galua began his study in Architecture at the College of Engineering and Architecture in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, and graduated in 1997. Galua took and passed the board examination in 1998  and was given by the Professional Regulation Commission. He registered his own Architectural Consulting firm, whose trade name was RD Galua Associates, and later it changed to GALUA PLUS Architectural Design Studio.

Galua attended his master’s studies in 2004 at Mindanao State University — Iligan Institute of Technology, Iligan City Philippines, Master in Sustainable Development Studies major in Rural and Urban Planning, and graduated in 2007. He continues his studies to a Doctoral degree in Mindanao State University — Iligan Institute of Technology, Iligan City, Doctor in Sustainable Development Studies primary in Rural and Urban Planning, and graduated in 2011.

The BIR offices throughout the country will establish their Document Processing Division in every Regional Office under Executive Order No. 366. or proximate to the same office, ensuring the exclusivity of such Division where returns shall be filed in its storage facility. The results in the creation of a permanent DPD Building for each Regional Office throughout the country. This three-storey Document Processing Division Records building, comprises offices, a conference room, and Large document storage.

2017 – Academic Building 1, Philippine Science Highschool, Caraga Campus

The fluidity of Sciences inspired the Academic Building of PSHS. Architect Rey Galua designed it to house school Laboratories, Classrooms, and Faculty rooms.

The Amazing Project of Architect Rey D. Galua, The MUST Gymnasium.

The gym is beneficial to us, particularly as far as sports.  The 8-storey engineering complex designed again by Dr. Rey D. Galua is yet to make it successful in the city!. It is a structure equipped for indoor sports and designed to hold many people for any large gathering.

The gymnasium is one of the essential support facilities of institutions because almost all school-related activities and gatherings have a massive need for a large and spacious area. Mindanao University of Science and Technology itself had a gym before, and believe it or not, it accommodated significant local and national events like the PBA game.

Students were able to use it until its destruction six years ago, triggered by a fire. The sudden tragedy of the unique MUST gymnasium gave way for its reinvention. The university's administration may have thought of its essence and importance for the students and the community. They quickly responded to the idea of reconstructing it. It took a while before they finally started the construction, and now after a swift one year, the mighty MUST gymnasium rose again, gaining much attention from the entire community. It was well designed by one of the successful architects in Cagayan de Oro, Dr. Rey D. Galua, and crafted by the PLD construction.

Its details would give justice to the reputation it now reaps from the community. As you enter the gym, You are welcome at the lobby, where a low ceiling is incorporated to contrast the gym's interior high ceiling to achieve the illusion of enormous space. Above the lobby are some universities' offices, such as the planning office, procurement, human resource, and general services. Comfort rooms, dug-out with showers for the players, assembly area for the performers, dressing rooms, control rooms, and indoor sports spaces below the bleachers.

The porter basketball backboard further accentuates it, centre-hung electronic scoreboard, remote-controlled LCD screen and 3-layer curtain for cultural shows in case of changing backdrops. Excellent architectural lighting such as moving heads, par cans, and spotlights is also engrafted. Indeed no one can stop the architectural prowess of this new structure in the university. High-quality materials were used for the remarkable rise of the new gymnasium.

Thermal insulation was installed below the roof that serves as heat insulation on the one hand and an acoustic material on the other hand. The passive cooling system was introduced to achieve energy efficiency. Grade "A "maple floor system was used similar to SM Mall of Asia Arena, Madison Square Garden in New York, and other NBA courts in the US. Impressive modern architecture fueled by modern materials and technology is the prime reason why there are still so much to tell about this development in the university.

This structure which stands proud at the heart of the campus, gives the true definition of MUST and provides the most lenient and exact answer to the frequently asked question: Why are they the centre of engineering and architecture? But behold, because that does not stop there. The 8-storey engineering complex was designed again by Dr. Rey D. Galua, one of the best architects in the city!
