Finally, we see Diaval running for cover through the gardens in his human form.

This is interesting, as in the original Sleeping Beauty, Diablo (who Diaval is based off of) was turned to stone. Hopefully, the fact that Diaval is running past stone statues is only a morbid nod to the past, because if it isn't and they end up killing off my favourite character, I'll have to be physically removed from the cinema...

The question I have is this...

We see Maleficent shot down into a body of water, we know she finds fae like herself and we know she is holding someone in the woods who appears to be either dead or injured who looks a lot like the fae who tells her to 'care for her own'. Diaval is nowhere to be found here. As I've said, he still needs her to transform, he can't do that alone. So while she's gone, where is he? He wouldn't leave her if he could help it, so my guess is that he's either captured or on the run, stuck in either his human or animal form. Let's just ignore the stone thing as a possibility because I'm not even able to comprehend that at the moment...
