Something I have chipped away at for the past several sleepless nights.

I think it's great that Tamagotchi and Digimon have endured over the years as the most popular virtual pets but Gigapets deserves more recognition for being a solid second place in the 90's, and for having great reboot in the 2010's, it may hae been rough at first but it's been one of my favorite virtual pet lines once they dropped the "AR" features and made pets with better battery life.

They've been doing fantastic remakes of their original pets that run circles around what Bandai did for it's Tamagotchi remake, all while still putting out new devices.

My personal history with Gigapets is very short, I had a Digital Doggie as a kid, but I lost it in a matter of days.

I think i've fit every modern Gigapet on here, I hope they do more remakes and I look forward to what new devices they put out in the future. I'm really crossing my fingers for a bat.

Well. I ordered a Tamagotchi Pix because I got a good offer... lots of people on the Tamagotchi Reddit say it's much better than the Uni but we'll see.

But the fact that I made yet another purchase... lord, I may need to get my ass on some commissions to make up for this.

On one hand I do hope we get Tamagotchi Connection re-releases because I never got to have a connection and all Tamagotchi fans seem to speak very highly of them. I think the marketing leaned a bit too hard into the "this is a girls toy" direction compared to the more gender neutral direction of the vintage era, and I sadly grew up with a father that threatened to buy me girls toys if I was bad and made me embarassed by anything even slightly feminine. So I didn't ask for a Tamagotchi connection, and missed out because of it.

On the other hand, I will be slightly upset if they remake the connections, because it completely kills my hopes and dreams of them ever remaking other vintage era Tamagotchi like the Angel, the Devil, the Ocean, most of which are way too expensive to buy on the after market. I feel like it's becoming a trend lately for companies to only remake their most popular stuff and just skip stuff that "did well but won't rake in the big bucks" and it bums me out.

Digimon Pendulum Color Wave 2 pre-orders are live on ZeninTCG

Jeeze, the whole V-pet community is in an uproar right now. At least the Bandai portion of it. It's crickets ville in Gigapets Land.

Anyway

Digimon Pendulum Color wave 3 is finally being shown off... preorderes are on Bandai Premium but you need a VPN to get it, I'll be waiting for the ZeninTCG pre-order Link.

Meanwhile the Tamagotchi fans are blowing up because of speculation about what they're going to reveal. Tamagotchi Connections seems to be what most people are leaning toward, but some also think it's Gen 1 and Gen 2 colorized. Not to mention the leaked Uni Angel and Uni Devil. Lots of debate.

Anyway, despite it's simplicity and lack of things to do beyond feeding, I like the Tamagotchi mini, it's so damn cute. It kind of makes me wish that this rumored Tamagotchi Color had sounds and animations closer to this instead of being faithful to the originals, where half the Tamas just stand in the middle of the screen doing nothing. I just hope at the bare minimum, there are no programming bugs, like the lethal snacks in the 2017 remakes.

Two things....

First of all, it sounds like the Pendulum Color wave 2 is launching really soon... in which case... oh my poor wallet, I regret pre-ordering the Digivice Color now. At least i'm in a position where I can afford it for the time being but I was really trying to stop spending money...

Second...

Rumors and leaks abound surrounding Tamagotchi.

Tamagotchi Uni Angel and Tamagotchi Uni Devil seem to be on the horizon, I'd really prefer we just get re-releases of the original Angel and Devil but at this point i'll take what I can get. I just hope they're not Japan only. There also seems to be rumors of Tamagotchi originals getting released in color like the Digimon, and I'm very mixed on that... like of course I want these, but why are they going to release all those different shells and then just end up releasing a superior line of of Tamagotchi originals like that? How much money are they asking? Is P1 and P2 gonna be released seperately again or will they combine it into one? Does this mean the rumored Tamagotchi Connection remakes are doomed? I'm so conflicted.

Either way, Bandai needs to chill a bit.

I got the boy.

Again, not a Tamagotchi original, it's a device where it's much easier to get him, I swear i'll get him in the original someday, but i'm always happy to see him.

He's also a little more lively than on Tamagotchi originals, he walks around on the screen and jumps around. Really cute.

I know he can become Bill on the mini if given perfect care, but I don't like Bill, so I might neglect him a bit, lol.

I see Tamagotchi fans saying they think Digimon has it so much better in the virtual pet department.

And I've seen Digimon fans saying the same thing, except the sentiment is that we always get half baked ideas that get executed better when they do it with Tamagotchi.

And I'm sitting here thinking you're both wrong, being a fan of either one is suffering because they both have tons of problems because of the way Bandai is as a company.

Meanwhile, as a Gigapet fan, i'm living it up because they keep releasing good shit, are open with the fans and have good customer service, are not making overly expensive devices that are exclusive to some dumb ass limited run service, are probably in no position to do any dumb ass collabs where you take care of walter white or something, and they keep remaking the old pets but better while also making new ones.

Detective Conan Tamagotchi Nano Colorful

The very first ever color screen Tamagotchi Nano has just been announced! The Detective Conan Tamagotchi Nano is the first tamagotchi in the Tamagotchi Nano Colorful series. This is the second collaboration Bandai has had with Detective Conan, a Japanese manga series.

The Detective Conan Tamagotchi Nano Colorful will come in two shells, red and blue, the red is called “Conano Edogawa” and the blue is called “Kid The Phantom Thief”. These two Tamagotchi’s feature the first ever color screen on a Tamagotchi Nano, a rechargeable battery, and connectivity to recharge! There is no further information on battery life or the connectivity it will feature. It could very well be USB-C as all of the modern releases are using this standard (thankfully).

You can care for your character by feeding them a meal or snack, and you’ll even get to see further details thanks to the color screen including facial expressions! A total of 22 characters can be raised, including Amuro, Shuichi Kai, Kaito Kid, and Conan himself.

Preorders start on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 on Premium Bandai Japan. They’re listed for ¥5,500 including tax and are set to ship September 2024.
