I've got most of it now (needs more details + shading + other armleg and hindleg and possibly other wing?)
Tumblr media
but I also needed to figure out some proportions and anatomy...

Here's your periodic reminder: Alterhumans can be human. Nonhuman and alterhuman are not the same thing. Human fictionfolk, otherhearteds, factfolk, human fact or fiction 'linkers, systems, the list goes on. You can even be nonhuman and human at the same time. You're not less alterhuman just 'cause you're human, you're a part of this community as much as anyone else.

Let it be known that only you can define what being transspecies is for you. That experience exists in whatever way you see fit. The reason why our experience has little to no framing is because our history is rich with folk who’ve created their own paths. It begins and ends with personal autonomy.
Don’t let anyone tell you what you are or what you should call yourself, especially if the reason is because it deviates from what they experience.
Sometimes, that’s not a suggestion made in good faith. That’s a gateway into exclusionism.
You define you.

I hate 2 say it but being a part of a “weird” subculture does not meaningfully inoculate you against a conservative moralizing impulse. You gotta unlearn that. Saying “cringe is dead” is not enough, you have to actually be okay with things that discomfort, perplex and/or disgust you.

I'm gonna work on a good version of this but no spoons gotta work with what I can do
Anyway I talk a lot about demiform and draknform, but those two are the ends of the spectrum of forms I feel/take (not counting cameos), and tbf midforms are varied and there's not much to talk about?
Tumblr media
like here's a midform
Tumblr media
This is one of the "small draknforms", where basically the overall shape is more draknform but the legs are longer proportionally and the body is smaller.
I might make a list (or even a chart?) to explain the differences between demiform and draknform.

Very gentle reminder that I can and do encourage folks to start their own archives, group projects, conventions, zines, essays, and etc. I have a whole lecture dedicated to giving folks tools for putting themselves out there in the community. It's not helpful to anyone to frame community involvement as "trying to control the narrative." It's not helpful to view the concept of archival work with suspicion. There is no Secret Alterhuman Government controlling things behind the scenes-- there's just us, collectively, as peers. Together. If you don't like the way something is done, make a better version. That's how improvements happen! That's how the community evolved and grows! It's a blanket positive thing. If you dislike something, let that inspire you; take that energy and just run with it.
You also don't need to be a "big alterhuman blog" to make things, to archive things, to put yourself out there! Popularity should never be a factor in who is or isn't allowed to contribute in a space. This isn't the first time I've seen this implied by a blog post, which is a major part of why I'm responding to it; I really need folks to understand that no one in this community is better than anyone else. Longevity in a community space can be useful for a lot of reasons, but it is not a marker of superiority. The blogs listed in this post have anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand followers each, and at the end of the day it doesn't matter. Bloggers come and go. The amount of followers that someone has doesn't make them separate from you on a fundamental level, and it certainly doesn't necessarily make their work more important or noteworthy or Just Different by default, either.
People are more than free to block me as they like, because that's how you curate your space in a healthy way and I'll never begrudge it, but I also really need to emphasize that there is zero difference between me and the other people on that list, and other members of this community. Putting people on pedestals and othering them never ends well. Folks with "big blogs" aren't your enemies or your bosses, they're literally just other people.

Ok so this is going to come off as rude...but as the one who came up with the concept of theriform I have to specify;
It is not an identity label.
It is a term to allow us to talk about members of our species whose bodily structure and levels of sapience are typical for that of our species, without using invalidating terms like 'biological (animal)' or 'real (animal)'.
If those who were born into differently shaped bodies with human-level sapience start to use it too the term becomes meaningless and inaccurate.
Please do not use it as an identity label.

im a little stuck on the whole tiktok therian consensuses ive been seeing -
on one paw, i 100% see and understand why we should approach misinformed children with gentleness and education, and i see why it’s important
but on the other paw, i hold personal experiences on the app that the former claim just can’t shake. tiktok, as a platform, is mean. everyone is mean and they teach others to be mean. if you don’t have the exact same hivemind opinions, you’re getting cancelled. and yeah, i did get cancelled. not for, as an ex., educating about unpopular terms, not for attempting to give physical therianthropy a good rep, no…
‘theriantok’ (hold my collar while i puke) cancelled me because i told them labelling yaelokre’s work as ‘therian vibes’ is wrong. to sum it up, my points were that such a vast and complex identity should not have a ‘vibe’ assigned to it, and out of all the vibes, masks?, and that it’s unfair to the creator to do so, because they were throwing away the beautiful storytelling and art the creator made and just slapping the word ‘therian’ over it.
i barely poked at the odd obsession with masks and tails defining therianthropy and got ripped to shreds by these children. and to make it worse, i have other similar experiences. so, sure, they’re kids, but that means something different to me than it does to the other beings on here. it doesn’t mean i’m going to approach them and try to educate them, it means i’m staying the fuck out of it. i moved to tumblr and covered my ears, letting them grow and discover who they are truly by themselves. i’m mad at tiktok, not the kids.

in the therian community -and by extension the alterhuman community- we happen to have a ceratin issue that many of you do not acknowledge whatsoever, even though i think it is arguably one of -if not the- biggest issue in the community. this issue happens to be our actions towards others, whether it be directly or indirectly.
our community is quite hostile, and unnecessarily so. this is seen a lot towards physical alterhumans (less recent but still present) and chosen therians (more recent) in particular. they are often said to be harmful to the community, which is not really true and seems more like an excuse for their unkind behavior. i often see people defending this behavior by claiming it is misinformation in the case of chosen therians, or harmfully delusional in the case of physical alterhumans. these things are not good reasons to treat each other this way. someone else choosing to be a therian does not hurt you, and they are not harming the community either. physical alterhumans are not harming the community either, regardless of being delusional or not. i will not be going over physical alterhumans or chosen therians in detail in this post as there are already many posts about the former and i am not a part of the latter.
truthfully, it doesn't really matter what the origin of someone's alterhumanity/therianthrophy is. many of you are much more focused on the origins of other people's alterhumanity (which is not any of your business as their life is not yours) rather than the experiences of their alterhumanity. you seem to forget that the point of this community is to share experiences, not debate origins. of course not everyone is going to be alterhuman for the same reason, that is part of the sharing of experiences. not everyone here is going to be like you and you need to remember that, and treat them as such. putting others down for not being the way you are is gross and immature. calling people bad things over who they support is gross and immature. kicking people out of this community for harmless things is gross and immature.
the last thing i really wanna touch on here is that we need to have this community. the people that hate us? they hate all of us, each and every single one because they hate what we are. they don't care about why we are this way, they hate us all the same. they want us to tear ourselves apart because they think we're freaks in a bad way. if we want to be recognized in a better light, we need to stop fighting and work together for once. if we’re all working together despite the hate from the outside, things will improve. the only condition is that we can’t leave each other behind in the dust. we are stronger together than we are apart.

my dreams are super weird and partially lucid (and usually 99% out of my control)
first, I can't see my body in dreams, but I've noticed feeling the following:
Tumblr media
I quad walk often, regardless of what body I'm supposed to be in in the dream (including human) and regardless of the plot of the dream (no one notices or comments that it's out of ordinary)
Flying is chaotic and not very controllable. Often I will fly and remember "shit, no, stop flapping your arms" – bad habit– "use your actual wings" and pull my arms in and flap my 'back' wings, which will often be completely intangible but I know I'm moving them.

Just a small reminder (because I keep seeing it in definition and other such posts) that fictionkinity includes fictional species, not just characters!!
Some of the earliest members of the community (early as in before "otakukin" was even coined as a term) said they were dragons from specifically the Dragonriders of Pern series, not a specific fictional dragon character! Some elves were specifically elves from Tolkien's works!
Don't write out fictional species from the fictionkin definition!
