Attention AO3 and Tumblr writers

AO3:

Okay, you've all probably been following at least one or two discussions about AI.

You've received a message from a Discord group that follows some AO3 fanfics, and the short message is that certain fanfics are being used for AI training.

If you already use AO3, you should know that it allows anyone to read the stories published on the site, whether they're registered or not. So, publish your stories for all readers to make it easier for your content to be stolen for AI training.

A solution that was given in the Discord group that I frequented was that when you publish a story, only people registered on AO3 can read your stories.

I know it's not the best solution, but let's figure out how to deflect these increasing thefts of content for AI training.

Tumblr:

In case you didn't know, Tumblr allows third-party companies to use blog content for AI training, but it's easy to get around that.

If you're setting up each of your blogs, you'll find an option to 'Prevent [your blog name] from being shared with third parties'.

This won't stop you from reblogging your posts, don't worry. It will stop licensed partner companies from using your posts for research.

"Oh, but what about unlicensed companies?" That's another problem, since unlicensed companies are the ones that are illegal and that even Tumblr can't 100% prevent. Which is why if you have a Tumblr account, make a post at any time, to make sure your blog isn't a ghost blog or a bot.

just heard yet another booming sounds and israel is just hitting a town like 1-2 hours away. girls, this is not feeling very shining through the city with a little funk and soul tonight. this isn't the first time, we've been hearing them at least once or twice per week, plus the jets breaking sound barriers (not to mention, we got an earthquake as well like BROOOOOO)

help a girl out, i say i'm fine but i need to get my family and i out of this country ASAP before they fucking bomb the airport next 😭 like this is not a joke, my country's being bombed and other countries are advising against flying here and the airport has been closing down bc of the situation.
