Burger Bach - Durham, NC
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Peep Ash’s Burger Bach Tee)
Initially when my friend, Ashley, suggested that we try Burger Bach for lunch today I was internally skeptical. I was going in on a prayer because she insisted it was amazing.
Why was I skeptical? Well, gourmet burger bars have never been my favorite. Ya’know, the ones claiming to offer extraordinary and unique burgers but only delivering extraordinary prices.
Burger Bach, surprisingly, was not like these. Being a burger joint that only serves ‘New Zealand Grass Fed Angus Beef Burgers’, this place definitely claimed to be different from the rest off the top.
Walking in, I caught that upscale but not uptight vibe. Laid back...but classy. But also not too urban or boujee. Gave me a downtown college café/hipster type of feel. I loved it.
Our waiter, Johnathan, seated us right away in a corner booth for 2 with just the right amount of sunlight for our endless 'lunch date' selfies.
On the menu, you have a range of options. Appetizers like house made hummus and 'Disco Fries' (house made gravy, caramelized onions, and New Zealand cheddar cheese on fresh cut French fries); Tossed Salads, Seafood like Mussels, Shrimp, and Oysters, and Burgers (duh).
While Ashley ordered the black bean “Koha” burger, with grilled pineapples, cilantro sauce, pico and curried honey Dijon; I opted for the more simple “Deluxe” burger. Topped with organic ketchup, dill pickles, diced onions, all natural yellow mustard, lettuce, Tomato, and free range mayo ; this was your ultimate basic burger. I asked for the organic New Zealand cheddar cheese as well without looking to see it cost an extra $2. I don't view cheese as an add-on for burgers but I guess I'm in the minority.
A nice touch that comes with all their burgers was the 'Fresh Herb Vinaigrette' that topped their Arugula side salad. Arugula is that really bitter lettuce, usually used as a garnish to different meals. To my surprise, the vinaigrette neutralized the bitterness of the lettuce which I was very pleased with. In my opinion, it tasted like a form of sweet vinegar. Very unique and very delicious.
Now to the good part. My burger's presentation left much to be desired, but I guess that’s what I get for staying inside my comfort zone of basic burgers and fries. However, the taste of the burger was amazing. Hands down, better quality beef than any American beef I've ever tried.
Fun fact - GMO's are illegal in New Zealand. Not to mention - not only is Angus Beef naturally leaner and healthier, no hormones or antibiotic growth were used in this beef patties either. Sounds guilt-free to me!
This beef lacked all the things that make our American beef burgers and it was better in both taste and how I felt after I finished eating.
The bun of the burger was very light and airy. Not dry but firm and buttery. The New Zealand Cheddar cheese was delicious, very rich in taste (likely why it’s 2 bucks, at this point I deemed it worthy) ; and the diced onions that were melted in was the perfect combo.
Their fries were pretty good but what really caught my attention was their dipping sauces.
Different names like Basil Pesto Aioli, Roasted Jalapeno Remoulade, Manuka Honey Mustard, and Fresh Tarragon all caught my eye but the one that I wanted to try was the Blueberry Chipotle BBQ sauce. Sounds weird right?
Bottom Line - It. Was. BOMB.
The perfect balance between BBQ sauce, Chipotle seasoning, and that Blueberry flavor was a super unique spin on regular BBQ sauce. Definitely something that I'll remember about this restaurant and will want to try again.
Overall, I was very pleased with my meal at Burger Bach. My total ended up being $14.97 which included my burger, the $2 cheese, and the fries that my Ashley and I split the cost on.
For sure, this is more than what I'd ever pay for a burger and fries. However, for the quality of food, customer service, and chill vibe and atmosphere we received from Burger Bach ; it was definitely worth every dollar spent!

Why I Started a Blog With Absolutley No Previous Experience In Doing So...
For starters, I would like to say thank you for visiting my blog and welcome to the first post! I’d first like to express that I am NOT an experienced blogger but I am an experienced writer of many unnecessary essays ; so if I can write an essay titled 'Why Chipotle Is Absolutely Necessary To Survival' I can definitely run a blog.
In this blog, you'll find reviews ranging widely (and I mean very widely) between hair products to makeup to all things food and cooking.
I know what you're thinking, another 'Jane of All Trades' right? Well I am glad to inform you that that is EXACTLY what I am. All my life, I've been inspired by my loving parents to be multi-facetted. Like a Diamond. Beauty (some what) and Brains. Gorgeous but strong. I believe thats what all young ladies with a bright future ahead of them should aspire to be as well. That would be knowing how to create a brand or build a career to support herself ; but also knowing how to cook a BOMB dinner for her family ; but ALSO being able to beat her face on a budget. All while keeping her focus on whats most important, her spiritual welfare. That is my goal.
However, I've also always been an avid reader and writer. I find it to be an outlet; my fingers tapping rapidly on the keyboard in my dads office. Putting together different essays and narratives on different subjects that I'm passionate about. Not for an assignment, but just for fun. Definitely an awesome reliever of stress.
Anyway, As you will soon see, I am no Chef BoyarDaisy. But I do love food and I aspire to be able to make awesome meals for my family that are healthy as well and not burn my house down in the process. I will be trying different restaurants, recipes I find on the internet and different ideas that pop into my head and see just how fancy my meals can get on a tight budget. This section of my blog will be trial and error for sure...
As far as hair products go, I've been drawn to the beauty industry ever since I can remember. Being a Licensed Cosmetologist, Making women look and feel more beautiful will always be my passion. So reviewing hair products will be a way for me to voice my professional opinion about the products you want to try at home but are afraid to buy!
Also, Now that I'm more interested in the different levels of makeup (and not just liner and unblended eyeshadow, my signature look), this blog is also a way for me to display my progress as a growing makeup artist.
So tag along with me as I burn my kitchen down and look amazing in the process!
