Thinking about how much I love people's super mundane headcanons for their muses, yes tell me about their favorite cereal. Yesss tell me how they go that weird childhood scar. Yessss tell me the dumb things they've named their pets over the years. A world doesn't exist where I don't want to know if your muse has hay-fever or lactose intolerance, or a fear of ants, or panics if they get lost at the grocery store. It fills me with endless joy and whimsy.

It was raining when he went to bed and still raining when he woke up ( about twenty minutes ago ), so he had just been under the impression it hadn't stopped at all night. Oh well. "Hey, at least you'll be able t'leave today 'nd take yer umbrella with ya, yer clothes should be dry by then anyways.. you'll be fine."

Actually. "Weeellll, I was gunna stick yer stuff in the dryer outta the kindness of my heart but maybe you can jus' walk home in 'em damp." Ryuzaki scowled and set two mugs on the small kitchen table, one filled with dark coffee and the other filled with orange soda ( all the glasses were dirty, this was his only option ) "Ma don't do my laundry anymore, I worked out the buttons on the washer ages ago."

Roba stood awkwardly in the hallway, feeling a trickle of water slide down his scalp and disappear into his shirt collar. "I've definitely messaged you at least twice about the umbrella, I'll pull up the conversation if you want me to." He had even used the cute little emoji so Ryuzaki wouldn't forget.

There was a slight pause before he added, "-- and it wasn't raining when I left the apartment, it came out of nowhere!" the summer weather had been hot and unpredictably wet so far, it didn't leave much room for Planning Ahead, and Roba didn't much like wearing a raincoat when it was so warm outside. The thin layer of waterproofing made the perfect greenhouse-like micro-climate near his skin and he hated it. He slipped off his shoes and made short work of unbuttoning his shirt, muttering his thanks as Ryuzaki handed him the towel and clothes. The towel was scratchy and there wasn't a doubt in his mind that the t-shirt and shorts hadn't been worn at least once since their last trip to the laundry, but he dried off and got dressed regardless. Feeling odd in clothes slightly too short for him. He looped the towel over his shoulder to stop his still-damp hair from getting anything else wet and headed to the kitchen, wishing he had brought slippers, "Ryu, I hope you don't still make your mother wash your clothes. The detergent pods aren't going to bite you."

Oh oops. Ryuzaki side-eyed the dark blue umbrella propped against the wall behind the front door, where it had been sitting for several weeks since he had 'borrowed' it. "Heh. Not my fault you didn't remind me..." he mumbled as he took stock of his friend, he looked like he had gone for a quick dip in the river on the way over. Though it wasn't like he had faired any better in the humidity, he had had to tie his hair back so he wasn't completely swamped in frizz.

"Yeah, yeah. Come in, lemmie jus' got grab you a towel 'nd some dry clothes. Y'know you could'a just called 'nd cancelled, s'not like it was super important that you came over today." Ryuzaki pads off down the corridor in the direction of bathroom in search of said towel and then to his bedroom to get clothes. Maybe he should have made an effort to do laundry today. He gave a shirt and a pair of shorts the sniff test and walked back out into the hall. "Ma ain't home right now so dry off wherever, I'll be in the kitchen when yer done."

@dinodeck "I need to you know that this is your fault." Roba said flatly as he stood in the entryway of Ryuzaki's home, the gesture to his damp clothing and wet hair was implied from his dour tone. "You took my umbrella last time you were at my house, and now my pants are sticking to my knees." Oh how he hated the rain, and it only ever seem to rain when he had errands to run or people to see, never when he was stuck at the apartment with a hot mug of coffee and a good book! And the humidity! Sweet Jinzo, it was clammy. Ryuzaki would rue the day he made Roba leave the comfort of his air-conditioned place to travel across the city ( on foot, no less! ) to what, hang out? Spend time together? This could have been an email.

"So, are you going to let me in — or do you plan on standing there all day gawping" his was sentence punctuated by bead of water dripping from his hair, landing with a splat on the linoleum floor.

Psychic, psycho, who cares! Roba worried little bit too much, about both things. So what if Ryuzaki hadn't had water to drink today, he was a busy guy! Water didn't hit the same way as a room temperature, off-brand cola from the vending machine in the breakroom. And they were BOTH fuelled by caffeine, Roba's poison was just different to his, that's all. "Alright, alright, but if ya start makin' anymore predictions that come ~mysteriously true~ I'm sayin' somethin', unless you happen t' know the lottery numbers. Then I'm listenin'..."

Ryuzaki had already grabbed the tired-looking broom from the closet and was making great time sweeping up the sawdust and dirt from the shop floor, pushing it all into a pile in one of the empty corners. It hadn't been raining today so there would be no need to mop. A small blessing! "Uh, she'll read anythin' 'bout any kinda history or science, not so much biographies. Maybe gardening? I dunno, she mentioned wanting to get into it once the weather gets better, but she's always hobby-hopping, it's hard t'keep up wit' her."

Psychic! Psy-CHIC, this will be the last time they went over this, next time there WILL be violence, and it will be swift and directly to the shins. He brought the water by way of educated guess and nothing more. Plus, they had been on sale... it was cheaper to buy multiple bottles. Had Ryuzaki so much as sipped at water today? So much as been NEAR water that wasn't meant for something in the store? Doubtful. He had the aura of a man fuelled entirely by caffeine and carbonation.

He waved a hand. "Call it intuition, if you need to call it anything. But I haven't been reading your mind, rest assured." All the thoughts bouncing around the brunet's head probably weren't super interesting or important, Roba mused inwardly. "Noted, I'll make sure not to leave it as long next time, I admire her ability to get through so many of them." Roba hopped up onto the counter, allowing his legs to swing a little whimsically while he watched Ryuzaki do his tasks. "Is there anything else you think she might like to read? We got lots of non-fiction in that we won't be able to sell, they're just going to get recycled otherwise."

Roba had always claimed his little psycho charade was just an act, but then he went and did shit like bring him water? Seriously. How could he have known just how thirsty he had gotten! And the soda speculation was.... completely unfounded, he'd deny it until the end of time. The soda he had for breakfast was HOURS ago, and didn't count. "Thanks." he said suspiciously. "How'd ya know I needed this, huh? You been readin' my mind again?"

Maybe he needed to stuff his hat with tinfoil like those whack-jobs from the internet did. He made a mental note to test that theory out next time they hung out. Wait... Roba didn't hear that, did he?! Shit. Ryuzaki eyed the bag of books, "Ma was askin' about 'em the other day, she's been itchin' to read somethin' else. She gets real bored during her night shifts, I'll leave 'em here and take 'em to her tomorrow." She would have to make do with sudoku on her phone in the meantime. "I just gotta finish up some stuff here 'nd I'll be done fer the day, you cool to wait around? I'd let you in the office to sit down but he's got a camera in there 'nd I can't be bothered to answer questions."

Sadly the store was indeed that bad, Roba was thankful for his family's current lack of pets because he doubted Ryuzaki would allow him to patronize another local chain. Who else was he supposed to offer his five-percent off staff discount too!

"Calm down, would you. I just wanted to give you this--" He paused to shuck his shopping bags onto the counter, rolling the tightness out of his shoulders. "--and if you would be so kind as to help me carry some of this home, well then I would be very thankful. And I could be convinced to cook dinner." The 'this' in question was a bottle of water, purchased with the assumption that Ryuzaki had had nothing to drink today aside from soda, and a paper bag containing some books he had pilfered from the returns shelf at work. "Those are for your mother, please apologise on my behalf that it's taken me so long to get new material to her. We haven't had much in since the holiday season ended."

The store wasn't that bad. Sure, a couple of the over head lights had burnt out a while ago but fixing them was above his pay grade, and he didn't trust the ladder to support his weight. So what if the place was a little dingy, people hardly ever came inside. In fact foot traffic was low enough most days that he could squeeze a nap in in-between task. Perks of the job!

Hearing Roba's voice had already jolted him from one of said naps, causing him to almost fall off the wooden stool he kept by the register ( he could prop himself up against the wall in a way that made it look like he was still awake, he was a genius and definitly wouldn't get caught. ) "Mm? M'over here..." He coughed to clear his throat, squinting bleary-eyed for his friend.

"How come yer here? Don't tell me yer gonna make me carry yer shoppin' all the way back to yours. I've been workin' all day!"

@dinodeck | It was already late in the afternoon by the time Roba had finished running through his list of errands. He had deposited some money at the bank, picked up groceries, and dropped off some things at the post office as a favour for one of his neighbours. He was fairly confident, without checking the schedule he had made in his phone, that Ryuzaki was due to finish work soon. Which was how he currently found himself, arms full of shopping bags, backing through the entrance to the totally not suspicious, and entirely above board pet store.

Roba was always surprised to see the place was still in business. To the untrained eye the building looked basically abandoned, and he wasn't fully convinced that it wasn't a front for something else. "Ryuzaki, are you there?" he called, peering over a shelving unit that housed what he assumed to be birdseed, sold in bulk, for a price that didn't make sense to him at all. "I have something for you."
