In speaking to a blogger from well-known online fashion and entertainment platform, 𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐁𝐎𝐌𝐁 𝐃𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐘, Esmé was expecting the standard questions on her previous work on faces within the entertainment industry, her plans for the future, what inspired her, the usual boring same ole’. However the interviewer surprised her upon inquiring about the developments on a recent multi-million dollar production deal she struct with 𝐌𝐆𝐀 𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓, notoriously known for their beloved fashion dolls, 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐙. “What made you think..okay I’m gonna wake up this morning and make a wig..for a doll, no less? Did it ever occur to you that someone might question what a hairstylist is doing working on plastic heads for a change?” Esmé allowed herself the opportunity to marinate on her response for a moment before she reopened her mouth. “Well, yes and no. Yes I was definitely second guessing if this collection had a place in today’s current climate. What with 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐙 dolls practically going extinct for years on the market. But…it came to me after chilling with my best friend, Unique Chery and her temporary daughter for the week. Paris as she named her, was playing with these old and tired ass Barbie dolls. Excuse my language but those dolls gotta go. They all look the same and it’s nothing different in their hair or style regardless how many of them you collect”, The female continued, growing more confident in her elaborate reasoning for such an unexpected project. 

“So I took one of her Barbie dolls and on a hunch I looked up doll recreators on YouTube and other media apps like Instagram and Tik Tok. They were brimming with them! Some would cut the original doll’s hair off and stitch their own. It was so creative and I could feel my wheels turning the more I looked into it”, By now the excitement in her voice could be heard octaves higher than when she initially spoke. “I’ll be honest…I tried taking off the doll’s hair by trimming it myself and that didn’t work too well for me. At all. At least not on the Barbie dolls. So I found an old Bratz doll being sold on eBay for pretty cheap and I ordered it thinking what the hell you know? What could possibly go wrong here?” She chortled at her reasoning, a twinkle flickered for a quick second in her hazel brown orbs. “Instead of trimming its hair, this time around I took one of those barber clippers. Yup, you heard right..some mini barber clippers they use on kids haircuts. Took those, shaved the original hairstyle on the doll off and I took it from there”, Esmé sat further back more comfortably in her seat to continue revealing the final notch in her creative process. 

“I took measurements on the doll’s head using some measuring tape and used that to build a base for the sample wig you find here. I used blends of silver white, platinum blonde, and jet black to create the final coloring ensemble you see there”, She could tell the blogger was impressed by her well-rounded and detailed explanation on the thought process behind the sample’s release. “That sure does sound like quite the project. Good thing when you release this you won’t be mass producing each doll by hand. Can we ask what you’ll be naming this doll in particular? And any other particulars you can reveal on the release date for this project?” The blogger appeared to be keenly interested in hearing the hair maven’s response with avid interest. This project would be the start of a new leading urban doll line that could amass more than hundreds of young urban daughters and parents seeking unique and trending dolls for themselves or loved ones to engage with. “Well I can’t say too much but just know that I will be releasing this very soon once all my samples and inventory stock is done. I’ll be naming that wig COOKIE. Inspired by my temporary daughter, Mercedes’ favorite toy in her play pen. A plush cookie shaped toy. Her face lights up every time she sees that thing and it calms her down to the max. So I wanted to inspire that same sentiment among young black girls when shopping for a new doll next time at Target or Wal-Mart. To feel overjoyed and ecstatic at the diversity and representation on the shelves. Thank you so much again for having me today. This was truly a pleasure.”

I took a couple classes when I was younger in watercolor painting and it grew from there to be honest. What ‘bout you?”

After ordering what felt like her third cheeseburger of the night, Esmé was contemplating a chocolate cupcake when he arrived at the venue in the baby blue sports car. A brimming smile instantly made its way to her duo. “Okay we giving fancy tonight. Heard ju!” The 5 foot and some inches figure  took a step towards the vehicle and peeked at the meal assortment he had selected. “I know you ain’t get Ting..that’s my shit right there. So far this menu get you 5 stars already. You ready to start?”
