One thing that's cropped up as a worry a few times while I've been chatting with people considering applying is the specifics of this requirement:

so since I'm making a post I thought I'd address it! simply put: there's no like minimum activity requirement. you won't get kicked out for not chatting every week or anything like that. We're comic artists, a significant chunk of us are recluses and shy away from social interaction!

it's just that being a collective, our whole thing is the community we make! the more you engage the more you'll get out of it, yaknow? engaging doesnt need to be chatting either, it's helping organise and participating in projects—or what I'm doing right now, getting the word out about the collective!

Personally, I joined the collective because I love talking about making comics and art and I love sharing resources, digging into an aspect of art and making my own resources, yada yada... so any community where I can do that is one I'm excited to be a part of, and spiderforest has been around since 2004 there's people involved who've been making comics for decades now that I can and do learn from. it's nice!

so if you have a webcomic up online and you've got at least one chapter completed you can send with your application, and that sounds like your vibe then consider checking the collective out :)

so.. there was a humble bundle recently for like sfx and music n such for videos and i started playing in the space of what if hots had a little trailer

n i used tts for the guard and myself for tempest as a placeholder n honestly id be happy to leave the guard as is but im not comfortable using my own voice for tempest bc id really rather she was voiced by someone whos transfem... but i feel weird asking smn abt it bc the only girls i know who would be down are not bri'ish. and tempest... is.... so bri'ish........ FGBHFLKTH

so pretend tempest has a different voice. imagine this world with me.

anyway this would be like the little animated opening bit and then thered be more trailer after this like showing cool pages or something. id also make another little animated bit at the end of the trailer w callie n tempest of a little glimpse from ch3 :)

raptor rooster yeah! much like with real life raptors, his tail is not totally stiff and can be moved and is used extensively for balance, but it's also not super flexible either—no cat or monkey tail, that's for sure. but this makes him more nimble while running/jumping/climbing bc his balance is so good :) you can see him being a menace in ch1 of my comic

My paint and ink brushpack (which you can get from Ko-Fi, Itch, or VGen for £2) has been updated, to include the rougher edged ink brush preset I've been using these days, and the grainy texturing brush I made recently and have been using a lot lately!

And also I updated the settings to match how they are currently as I've changed various settings since I first released the brushset :)

toying w the idea of redoing the lettering in ch1... I did all the sfx in CSP in ch1 but ive recently been playing with inkscape again and not only is it a lot nicer doing sfx in there I can also manipulate the text a lot more

but aaalso i am considering whether or not I want outlines on the speech bubbles. I opted for no lines when I first did ch1 because I especially didnt like how it looked on the first page with all its darkness.. but hrmm. i think a low opacity outline looks nice, actually? and i can increase it on lighter pages if its needed.

much to think about... but i do think i like it more
