it’s about the tour being a “hello again.” it’s about dan smashing the hiatus mic at the end of every show. it’s about fully committing to being Dan And Phil, to being so back, to doing all the things they want to do because they’re in this together and they’re here to stay and. :( guys we literally have dan and phil :(

Did anyone else say/notice that dan has been a lot more gentle whenever phil makes mistakes on the gaming channel post hiatus? I just remember him being more sharp before and now he's all soft and giggly

yes! and i feel like there's several reasons why. i think it's a mix of dan just generally being older and more patient overall, he's no longer afraid of us going LOL GAY if he's being gentle and comforting towards phil, and he has a different mindset towards what the appeal of their content is. the first two are self explanatory, but the last one is something i think about a lot in terms of their content overall, and i guess it kind of ties into the second point as well

obviously dan always knew that #phan was one of if not the biggest draw to them and the channel, but because he disliked that fact so much he focused a lot more on what he considered, mostly correctly, to be the other selling points. they've always had this dynamic of dan being exasperated over phil's antics (and vice versa, it's just phil's exasperation is a lot more lowkey than dan's. he rolls his eyes whereas dan starts screaming lmao) and that IS very funny and a large part of the comedy in their videos, but i think he used to deliberately play it up a lot more to make it funnier, hence why he came across much more critical than he does now. and the thing is he hasn't even necessarily stopped playing it up either, he's just more comfortable expressing his annoyance in a more authentic, very fond manner

now it's less "ugh you're so annoying i hate you" and more "ugh you're so annoying i love you", you know what i mean?
