hello, mandog! i’ve grown insatiably curious about the olandy dlc over the past few weeks and have been waiting excitedly in anticipation to see all of the new content. from what we’ve heard already, it’s going to be a LOT. keep up the experimental stuff— it all feels very much like passionwork! (..◜ᴗ◝..) the next few questions are going to be a lot though, so my apologies!
anyways, i was curious as to how exactly gingi’s dynamics would pan out with the two in the DLC. i’m sure that a lot of details can’t be explicitly shared, but i guess that i’m moreso curious as to how the romance would actually work. is it all very much olandy-centric, with gingi’s dynamics with the two also being explored but to a lesser extent? is it an equal load of each dynamic (olandy, oliver + gingi, and randy + gingi) which just so happens to also include olandy? is it going to lean more towards an oliver-based dynamic since this route probably won’t have us go through the works of randy being too desperate for love and, consequently, going along with all of gingi’s perks through the guise of sweet-talk again? i mean, we see randy’s wariness around gingi in practically every other route that wasn’t his. questions, mandog, questions!
(p.s: if the madame mediocre and narrator romance is brought up again in the route i’ll die with a content smile and name my firstborn child after randal valentine jade. the children yearn for formless, thought-being romance (〃´𓎟`〃))
Since it's releasing this month, I don't think there's any harm in talking about the plot a bit, so people have a very rough idea of what to expect. Sorry, word-bomb incoming:
It's mainly Olandy focused, but Gingi's dynamics with Randy and Oliver are important too, as there is an ending where you can wind up leaving with either of them but not the other (though these are not pleasant to witness.)
However, as the Narrator points out at several points, due to Oliver + Randy already knowing each other, Gingi's dynamic with each is slightly different and due to the other being there (and some plot related reasons, like your date with Oliver starting differently), each character acts a bit differently.
Occasionally, scenes are awkward, even slightly disjointed. Hell, many choices you make affect their behaviour too. One side of the route in particular is incredibly different if you're nastier in dialogue or pit Randy and Oliver against each other, which you get several opportunities to do.
Gingi's dynamic with Randy is still explored in as much detail as its dynamic with Oliver, as there's a few scenes where you end up alone with Randy and get to either feed or try to help him work through his insecurity, which is magnified in a group setting (with someone he worries secretly hates him!) These scenes generally give significant opportunities to help decide what ending you'll get.
The relationship stuff mainly focuses on Randy + Oliver, as Oliver took Gingi out to watch it lay its eggs (like in his route) and Randy was invited out by Oliver. Gingi doesn't register as a romantic companion to Randy as to him, it's just something that tagged along with Oliver.
Because Randy is there too, you can also play the route as Typegingi. This doesn't affect things much, but there's an acknowledgement of it in one of the bad ending scenes (there's two versions of the script, one if you've been EXTRA nasty!)
The romantic angle of the route is also optional, by the way. Some players requested a platonic route, so I added it. The underlying story doesn't change, but it substitutes explicitly romantic dialogue between Randy and Oliver for platonic equivalents.
There are a few references to Gingi thinking about romance if the settled is enabled, and you can flirt with Oliver at a point + discuss the idea of a polycule with Randy briefly. But, Gingi namely plays the role of a saboteur or therapy animal, treating Randy + Oliver's relationship as the 'thing' it fixes or hurts this route, like Oliver's movie or Randy's life.
And yes, this one's very experimental. I'm definitely more anxious about this one than I was with Roger due to how differently it's formatted. I included a LOT of skip points, so players have opportunities to end scenes when they want, but there's some scenes I'm curious to see people's reactions to as they're not quite typical for the game. There are points where Randy and Oliver both come off badly, but also (potentially) long scenes of character development/vulnerability. I haven't playtested the entire good ending scene in one go, but I suspect it's 20-30 minutes at least, if you choose not to skip dialogue.
The new mechanic of the route in particular is something I'm excited for people to see. Multiple playthroughs of a section of the route are mandatory to see everything and most of the content you see will be different if you make different choices :)

So if I ever hypothetically wanted to open my very own pizzeria, would it be okay if I called it bear? It would have no relation to dsaf, aside from the name, of course. That means it'd be murder-free! Maybe. Probably. I hope.
Anyways! My question still stands!
bear© is a registered trademark. expect to hear from my team of clown lawyers. you're gonna be slapped with the zaniest cease and desist you've ever seen. my clowns are gonna hit with you rubber gavels so hard that your head's gonna SPIN. you have no idea what you've just wrought, kiddo

Hi Dogman! So I noticed you’ve said you don’t care what pronouns you’re referred to by, so my friends and I have started to refer to with with progressively more unhinged xenopronouns, or avoid using pronouns at all costs. Some examples include “Oh dogman posted. What is [REDACTED] on about?” and etc. Essentially you get referred to as an anomaly. This is not meant in a rude way though!
I just thought you’d like to know this.
that's fun! i've always wanted to be [Redacted], you know.

Hi so I'm just gonna do a list of questions because I keep thinking of another mud writing one and I don't wanna send a million asks
1. If you did the Olandy route before you finish Randy's / Oliver's solo route, would it count to the completion to do chapter 3?
2. What would Roger and Norm's first interaction be like? Since we see all the base game dateables
3. Will we ever get a dlc of a completely new character? Like since the Olandy dlc is well Oliver and Randy, and Roger was originally just a reference to DSAF.
4. Is there ANY modern day media that features people as normies in the dialtown universe? Like the dialtown universes equivalent to well dialtown(humantown...)
5. Just tell me anything Theoraor...(Shocking a Theoraor 'fan' in the wild ik)
6. What is Gingi's favorite flavor of crayon.
Okay that's it bye
Nope, completely separate. Oliver's movie isn't finished and Randy doesn't take over Jerry's job, so it wouldn't make sense if it was checked for.
There was a cut idea for this where you could call him in chapter 3, if you had the Roger DLC completed, and he'd essentially just bug the shit out of Norm by not following any of what was going on.
Would be fun!
Oh yeah, they're referenced in pop culture, though it's mainly in horror, fantasy + sci-fi. Norm would take offense to most of these depictions.
He's American but his father (whom he emulates) is British, explaining why he speaks with a transatlantic inflection, with occasional British phrasing thrown in, despite not being, himself.
i'm sure they all taste roughly the same.

Do the characters feel pain in their heads? Since Randy said they don't have organs in there I was wondering if that means they can't feel anything's on their heads
Funnily enough, I just implemented some dialogue where he talks about that right before opening tumblr.
The short answer is yes. Your skull can't feel pain, but if stuff beneath it swells, the pain is excruciating. Phones obviously lack a dermal layer on the outside, but physical trauma does absolutely hurt due to there still being flesh and plenty of nerves underneath.
