I never really thought of Butter Roll getting a redemption arc that much. If he did, I'd expect it to be something like how Epresso was researching the soul jams, or like... making the perfect cookie but for defeating Dark Enchantress.

That's IF he can—If I'm really being honest, I don't think that man can be redeemed(or at least redeemed without getting some form of physiological rewiring)

That post is mainly what I think Epresso thinks of Butter Roll(if it wasn't obvious)

What I think Butter Roll would think of Epresso—however(rubs hands deviously)

Before I get into that, I should explain the little Headcanons I have of Butter Roll.

Butter Roll Cookie has/puts everyone he meets into categories, I'll probably expand on this later, but Epresso goes into the same category he puts himself in. Also, it's just another way of saying that he sees Epresso as being the same as him.

I also headcanon that Butter Roll disregards anyone he deems unimportant to his research or anyone who shows a lack of understanding/disinterest to his research.

So someone like Matcha, he'd "put up" interacting with(as studying Matcha could be beneficial to his research). However, in regards to Espresso, he's extremely low in terms of how much effort/mental strain he has in his mind. He understands but disregards the shared past they have, as it doesn't really benefit him in any way dwelling on it. He does think if Espresso was pushed enough—or if he could explain himself more, he could get Espresso to see why his so passionate about his work, and maybe get Espresso to have that same passion He doubts it, though.

Going back to Butter Roll's "list", there's two he has. The "psychological" one and the "physical" one.

If you take the psychological one away, you strip the cookie down to its bare essentials—a mindless baked cookie.

I think this is sort of what drives his not cocky but condescending attitude he carries. He knows what goes into baking a cookie, what is taking away a cookie core ingredient/flavor, and leaves the base— he can only see cookies as just that, I like to think so.

so like, i remember reading something about espresso trying to find like a soul jam or smth for immortality (although having to help madeline) and like. isnt butter roll trying to make an immortal cookie. theyre both searching for immortality in different ways.

also im pretty sure both of them were kinda outcasts in parfaedia. espresso as an honor student with not much social life, butter roll for having a different goal in mind leading to expulsion. just smth i think abt.

I like this a lot actually—I do enjoy anything that has to do with Epresso and Butter Roll(underrated pair, if you will)

I wanted to put some of my thoughts as well regarding these two as well,

I think they're both very similar, mentality wise—and what I mean by that is I keep thinking to the Cookie Odyssey story where Epresso gets fired from being the lead researcher for the soul jams.

I kept thinking of Butter Roll when I read that😭

I enjoy thinking that Epresso knew about Butter Roll's "controversial" research subjects. However, he didn't know the extent of it after Butter Roll was expelled from Acidemia. And if he ever did find out about the unethical experiments he's been doing—he'd somewhat understand the passion he has for it.

When it comes down to it through, I believe Epresso sees more value in other Cookie's lives and can't bring himself to fully support whatever Butter Roll aims to do(create the perfect cookie)(specially the experimentation/creation of other Cookies, even more so the disregard and disposal of Cookie/Cookie dough)

Also, because he's working for Dark Enchantress Cookie, but that's like... irrelevant😒(/J)
