Also yeah this goes without saying but I second this anyway , we definitely should not hound or harass six to start, its not their fault at all and that’s why I turned to here for answers as it’s an incredibly hard time for those being laid off and I didn’t want to add to any stress, hounding them for answers will only make things worse and they’ll definitely give us more answers to our questions in time, and we all have to remember that this is a shock to them too.

I feel really sad for those affected and I’m definitely going to show as much support as I can to them because this company means a lot to me as it does to all of us.

Guys I’m really worried about the Zombies, Run! news, it sucks that a bunch of Six to Start staff are being laid off but what does that mean for the app? That’s what I’m worrying about, it’s an awful situation but what’s going on? Will I still be able to run with the app? I really hope so it’s literally the only thing that gets me to exercise.

Is anyone else having issues with zombies,run! Not playing the audio when you start a mission? I updated the app three days ago and it’s not been working since, I was just about to get back on the bike and do it so I had to go on the 5k app instead.

If so, how do I fix it? If it can be fixed. I’d really appreciate the help! Thanks!

(Trust this to happen the day I get back on the app after my phone broke and I was without it for a week)

It’s late where I am (in the U.K) on the 14th January but despite being put out of action once again due to a sudden horrendous cold that I normally get this time of year, I just want to swing on here say happy birthday to my Runner Five, Alicia, who coincidentally (or not so coincidentally) also shares my birthday.

Given I’m on season 7 which is I think about six or seven years after the apocalypse started I believe she’d be turning 27 or 28 today, meaning she is now definitely older than me.

I hope (despite being fictional) that she’s not or was not on a difficult mission today and got lots of Sam hugs today 🙏 🥰

Kicking off 2025 exercise with of course getting back on Zombies Run! albeit week later than planned because my time of the month came in late and kicked me down for a week.

Anyway here’s a snippet of how I imagined my Five learning that Steve loves musicals went down:

KEFILWE: Steven, have you always been such a fan of the theatre?

STEVE: *laughing* Well I’m, uh, full of surprises, love.

FIVE: *thinking* oh nice, yes I’ve got friend who loves musicals! I’ll have to talk to him later about it!

*a little later*

STEVE: That’s Mistoffelees. I’ve...seen Cats nine times. It’s a masterpiece!

FIVE, who loves theatre but is going to haunt Steve if she dies in a production based off CATS: NINE TIMES?! CATS IS A MASTERPIECE?! Respectfully, I am judging you. This is me judging you and I honestly don’t know what to judge you about first, whether you have seen it 9 times or that you think it’s a masterpiece.

Yeah, my Five was basically really heavily looking forwards to the immersive theatre adventure, mainly because she was a drama student who was going to be studying immersive theatre in her second year that didn’t happen because the apocalypse….until she learned it was Cats! related because she hates the musical Cats!

Back on season 7 after the season 1 community run and I did something different today….a run round a local park after work!

Surprised to get an note from Peter after, but yes my Five totally 100% took him up on that Lightsaber Battle offer, she’s a huge nerd and Peter is the closest thing she has to a brother in the apocalypse of course she’ll have taken him up on it without any hesitation 😁

So on ROFFLENET (which I was able (heh able…as in yeah,) to join since I’m doing the season one community rerun) they’re doing a thing where you can post about your Fives with a template, so I decided to post one on there and one on here (I don’t think I’m allowed to repost the template though).

I honestly love the idea that my Five carries around a photo of her friends/found family and a note from her favourite radio operator in her bag. She also doesn’t realise just how kick-ass she is, like seriously.

Also the idea that Sam continues to slip snacks and water in her bag before a run even all these years later is something I am obsessed with, like yes, Sam look after your Five, she’ll forget to do so otherwise.

Well since we’re doing the ZR Season One community rerun (I am yet to do Mission 4) I thought it would be the perfect time to actually, finally crack into the 5K app despite not actually training to run 5K, just for the story purpose and having an alternative to the parent app.

I nearly died doing the first workout but hey I’m proud I did it. I enjoyed having Maxine in my ear with me (and Sam at the beginning and end). I could actually picture my five from years ago in her very early Abel days all nervous and innocent and between this and the season one rerun is making me feel all nostalgic for early ZR 😁

ZR Season One Community Re-Run let’s GOOO!!

Hearing Sam so youthful and not being able to handle pressure and after he just lost Alice but still making sure Five is safe, and then having to listen and maybe even watch zombie Alice get shot, made me tear up a little. Maxine, Evan and Sara’s appearances too. Also who shot down the helicopter has just makes the inciting incident that much better. And somehow I missed Sara speculating the green shoot thing the first time round. I can’t wait until I properly re-meet Runner 8 in the next mission.

Knowing how important Sara and Sam become to my Five is making the re run that much more exciting.

I had the same feeling with the actor who voices Simon, he’s in ‘Blink’, an episode of Doctor Who from series 3, in a very small role but I got whiplash when I was rewatching the episode and recognised the actor as SIMON BLOODLY LAUCHLAN. The reverse was with the actor who voiced major de Santa, too.

She plays Yvonne Hartman in Doctor Who series 2, and as a Doctor Who fan I immediately recognised her voice but it took me a while to twig, but I was still very taken aback. Whilst Hartman was a role that I’d very De Santa, her role in Friday Night Dinner (which side note, is a great sitcom) is very different and that is just a lesson in how much range she has as an actor.

this is an incredibly niche experience i understand that but you need to understand that not too long ago i saw a stage play and one of the actors sounded very familiar and i looked them up in the interval and got fucking jumpscared because he was in fact the main villain from the most recent series of zombies run

and for the entirety of the second act i was just sitting there like 'oh hey dude last time i heard you you were torturing the shit outta me and my friends'

which is an objectively weird thing to think about a character in my neighbour totoro

So whilst I didn’t do much because I was taking it easy, today my Runner Five had her absolute nightmare mission, running in a warehouse, trying to escape said warehouse, whilst (spoilers) it is full of flesh eating spiders who lay their eggs in your skin, in the dark and only having limited amounts of torch light and without Sam to guide her.

My five (like me) is severely arachnophobic so this was her literal worst nightmare.

But I did like the whole ‘Sometimes it helps to hear friends in the dark.’ line and that Veronica chose Sam to be that friend, because it brought me right back to A Voice In The Dark, aka the first mission that (and I think everyone can agree) made me cry and truly properly forced me to get attached to Sam.

The fact that Sam is still the voice in the dark for Five, Five’s light, platonic relationship interpretation or not, even after all these years makes me feel like I want to cry.

Following on from finishing season 6 of ZR….excuse me whilst I go and cry in a corner over Sam and how much I’ve missed getting the ZR emails but mostly Sam taking a minute to write a note to Five just in case everything goes south whilst taking down Sigrid and the U.K. is blown up and they never see each other again. Even just those short words upon receiving the email made me tear up 😭

After a over year of family things, new medical issues and general lack of motivation….. I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED SEASON 6!!!! 🎉 🎉

GOODBYE AND GOOD F*CKING RIDDANCE SIGRID!!! I hope you enjoyed volcano day!!!!

Okay I’m really glad that Moonchild was never able to pull a Simon but I’m sad about Veronica, I hope she still is in the audio and if not I hope she returns someday.

And I hope Sam finds out what happened to his sister, both my Five and myself really want that closure for him. Although I immediately twigged that she was possibly in the baby factory as because Sam is immune to the zombie virus, there is a chance his sister is too.

Actually do you guys want to know what the really hilarious thing is? At Sigrid’s end, I was listening to The Final Countdown by Europe on my ZR playlist (season 2’s penultimate missof the same name is the reason it’s on there plus it’s a damn good song!) I didn’t know that it was bu-bye Sigrid today even as I got to the audio clip because I just assumed she’d escape.

Anyway the funny thing is that The Final Countdown is the EXACT SONG I remember I was listening to during lockdown whilst running Something Good, the final mission in Season Two when Van Ark bit the dust.

I guess couples who plot the end of the world together get a theme tune when they die four seasons apart 😂

Anyway I’m so happy I can start season 7 now, I’m excited for what comes next because OF COURSE corpses can now get reanimated via post death infection, we wouldn’t have story if getting the cure was the final problem!
