Old convo but I found this post through a mutual and it's reminding me why I hate the telephone game on tik tok and tumblr because I remember this conversation and how it started, and it reminds me that none of you follow poc on booktok or booktube; because the conversation literally started with how white booktokers will uplift and market "bad" books over "good" books by authors of color. t was a conversation about the unfair standards aocs are held to which is why @jenifercheck said what she said but the conversation had become so half baked by the time most of booktok got to it that it just turned into "why read bad books?!" instead of what it was actually about.

listen to me carefully: books do not have to be GOOD to be worth selling or buying.

a story can be a clumsy metaphor sandwiched between two tropes and a cliche premise with a cover made in canva, and someone out there will happily eat that word jumble up, and the author totally still deserves a paycheck for writing it, and there's nothing wrong with any of that

The Sims forums on Reddit allows racially coded bullshit until tons of people start speaking up about it (if you don't believe me, check the posts on my blog and it took them DAYS to even fucking do anything) but they'll immediately ban someone over a harmless joke. @simandtheholograms you better than me sis cause that ban they gave you is ridiculous.

This is exactly why there needs to be a black simmers subreddit. This is only a handful of the stupid comments on this thread. For some context: OP asked for a name for her sim. And of course, people had to comment on her supposed ““““wide”“““ lips and the “alpha cc.” Keep in mind that I’ve seen non-black sims with alpha cc get praised and adored all the fucking time on this subreddit. I’m so over the sims community.

I’ve been keeping track, just to make sure I wasn’t completely crazy, and I have noticed a huge difference in the way people respond to black/darker skinned sims with CC and others. It’s weird. Why are they like that?

Hello there! I'm a netral stranger things fan. Just wanted to inform you that this happens a lot, because the tags are a bit lousy on here. If you tag "anti billy hargrove" or "anti xxx" it lands in the "xxx" tag anyhow. It's annoying, yeah, but as far as I know, it hasn't been changed or dealt with yet. This is why people still see anti stuff even though it's tagged and filtered appropriately. This has been annoying for me for example when trying to avoid spoilers for other series or movies
