an au where diana’s spellbinding doesn’t permanently and completely break until she and matthew are mated, and from the point where it starts unravelling in book 1/season 1 after satu’s torture, diana requires frequent close contact with matthew to keep the spellbinding from winding up and restricting her magic again. which isn’t much of a problem - matthew is always by her side, or they’re not separated very long, even when they arrive in 1590

until they reach sept tours and philippe forces them to stay apart. and the only thing worse than a weaver being spellbound as a child is a weaver having the spellbinding painstakingly close to breaking entirely, and then having it rapidly start to bind her up again. diana’s magic does NOT react well to being taunted by the prospect of near complete freedom and then being confined again, and begins acting out - by making diana sick. already weak from the journey to france, she starts suffering from infrequent and sudden seizures.

matthew is beside himself when he finds out and is ready to physically fight philippe for his right to be with diana. because he’s getting sick too - his mating instincts want him near his potential mate at all times to protect her, but phillipe’s rules don’t allow that, and it’s aggravating matthew’s blood rage. philippe finally realises that diana and matthew don’t just love each other - they physically NEED each other to survive, their life forces entangled and linked in a manner not dissimilar to soulmates.

diana and matthew don’t know how to react to the realisation, but they do know one thing for sure - they will fight for the right to be together and it will take all of heaven and hell on earth to keep them apart

Diana Bishop, historian and witch, accesses Ashmole 782 and knows she must solve its mysteries. She is offered help by the enigmatic Matthew Clairmont, but he’s a vampire and witches should never trust vampires.

The 13th century venue has been used as a filming location for an array of films and television shows, including Doctor Who and HBO’s The Bastard Executioner.

The castle was also used for scenes set in the Tower of London in The Spanish Princess, which was produced by American network Starz and was about Catherine of Aragon, the first wife of King Henry VIII.

The Grade I listed building was also used as a filming location in the 1995 Hollywood blockbuster Restoration, which starred the likes of Robert Downey Jr, Hugh Grant, Polly Walker and Ian McKellen.

testing boundaries - Set during 1x07. Finally understanding how Diana’s spellbound magic works, Matthew is convinced she needs to learn how to utilise it to defend herself. A self-defence lesson consisting of a vampire antagonising, annoying and scaring her to no end until she lashes back out at him is not how Diana pictured spending the morning.

grocery shopping - Set during 1x07/1x08. Diana had no idea when she agreed to go grocery shopping for Em and Sarah what would happen by letting Matthew accompany her. (Prompt from @begins-with-an-absence-of-desire​)

restless - Set during 1x04. Matthew is mid-phone call with Hamish when he hears the shouting coming from his tower. After learning about the circumstances of her parents’ deaths, Diana suffers from a nightmare and her vampire comforts her. (Prompt from @kuningatarmirka)

fire foretold - Set during 1x08. Diana begins suffering from nightmares about accidentally hurting Matthew with out of control witchfire, that she soon believes to be visions of the future.Although Matthew, Sarah and Em try and ease her worries, she’s still terrified of harming him. ride on high - Set during 1x04. Diana and Matthew take on a cross-country horse jumping course out in the forest behind Sept-Tours, atop Rakasa and Balthasar. It’s only inevitable that things turn playfully competitive. (Holiday gift for @blackcanarydinah)
