like I don’t know how you can get more obvious than tweeting “I’m sure I’m bisexual,” but clearly The Sun isn’t convinced

Quote
And,“ she said, “if you have someone who stays up with you in the middle of the night to make sure you’re okay - somebody who answers your calls at 2 or 3 or 4am - someone who listens to your sobs, or your silence, or your words with patience, you have somebody who loves you. And you’re lucky for it. And no matter how dark things get, you shouldn’t forget that.

the saddest thing to read in an article about parents of trans kids is “i didn’t sign up for this” like yes you did. yes you fucking did. you signed up the minute you decided to have a child and i’m fucking appalled that you even thought to say that, because having a child means loving and celebrating them unconditionally. when you decided to have a child you signed up for a trans kid, a not straight kid, a mentally ill kid, a mentally disabled kid, a physically disabled kid, and a chronically ill kid all at once and you don’t get to idealize any of that away goodbye

this. when we now could quit saying -phobia.... to discriminate and hate is not a mental health issue!
Fat shaming- the concept
(Originally from Twitter)
I have been thinking about the term “fat shaming” & why it bugs me. I think it has to do with how fatness is framed-
When you’re fat, it’s like you have this big secret that no one is ever supposed to mention, but is actually the most noticeable thing about you.
And it’s this shameful secret. Which is bullshit, but that’s the shitty framing we kind of all take for granted, pre-fat activism entering our lives.
When we say “fat shaming”, we’re focused on how the stigma is received by fat people. It’s a defensive crouch. A plea to spare us. And I for one am sick of fucking pleading.
Other intersections of discrimination are not treated this way- it’s misogyny, not female shaming
It takes the focus off the perpetrators of discrimination and lets them off the hook by focusing on the reaction of the victims.
It’s discrimination against fat people. And when you frame it that way, we can move away from ridiculous arguments like- does fat shaming work?
It’s discrimination. It’s microaggressions and aggression aggressions.
It removes the constant derail that thin bodies are shamed too.
It’s DISCRIMINATION.
Fat shaming is real, and it totally exists, but it’s just one part of fat discrimination & fatphobia. We confuse the issue to just have that piece stand in for the entire whole.
It would be like if feminists only had the term “abortion shaming” & had to use that to talk about sexual harassment or the wage gap or gendered violence.
Ditching the term “fat shaming” removes the idea that fat activism is about who feels bad and makes it about the real fight- the lack of access.

As someone who has been living with severe suicidal ideation my entire life I wanna tell you all something, you don’t have to stay alive for yourself. People will say it’s a bad idea to live for external things because they’re temporary, and it’s true living for yourself is ideal but if you’re not to that point yet that’s ok too.
I’ve lived for my dog for the past 4 years, before that I lived for my snakes, before that I lived for my cat. You can live for whatever needs you and whatever matters to you. Live for your best friend, live for your plants, live for your pets, live for your animal crossing town. Live for whatever keeps you alive and the day will come when you can live for yourself.
