blood is basically the most normal thing for a sword to hunger for. if a sword gained sentience and started asking me for blood i'd be like yeah i thought you might say that

a new self indulgent comic, another fork found in the kitchen
i ramble about their dynamic and this comic under the cut
this interaction is out of the ordinary!!! i don't think either of them are needy; but we all have our moments lol. i'm not a fan of shadow being a huge tsundere because I don't think he is. I think he's just scared of caring and it's difficult for him to vocalize his feelings but when he does it comes out super blunt, but he's always direct. also he's autistic so. yeah. communication between the two of them would've gotten better as they got older - I could nawttt see them getting together while in their teens so anytime I draw them they are at least 20/21. as much as sonic likes to tease shadow i think he'd genuinely recognize and appreciate how hard shadow tries to communicate with him and how hard it is for him to do that. gentle teasing would ensue but I don't think sonic would do anything to discourage shadow from opening up early on in their relationship. I need to organize my thoughts on these better but I have a bunch of longer comic ideas sketched out that explore their dynamic and them as individuals that I'm excited about.

I think people tend to assume that any criticism of worldbuilding is ultimately a demand for a story to grind itself to a halt and give the reader 20 paragraphs of exposition, and like. Most of the time good-faith criticism of this nature is coming from a core aspect of the story not being grounded in the setting in a way that outright detracts from the story's quality. You fix it not by Explaining but by Showing it passively in the makeup of the world.
Like the last instance I saw this critique in was like 'you can't expect an author to stop and exposit the nuances of gender roles/Queerness in a fictional society' and it's like yeah I don't, and in fact this is actually one of the easiest things to show in the text without exposition. If a society has gender norms to begin with you'll see aspects of these norms baked into EVERYTHING. You'll see it in its stories, its religion, its taboos, its etiquette, its clothing, its family structures, its language, its insults, its labor, its leadership, etc. It will have massive impacts on how characters interact with one another and how they perceive themselves. It will help Shape your characters.
If you do this legwork to begin with for the core facets of your story, you will find very natural places for these concepts to be demonstrated without derailing the plot and with little to no exposition. THAT sort of thing is what's being asked of you.

Happy pride month to my dad. When I came out as bi to him, this man googled what it ment, look at me and said "ohh. Yeah. You get that from me. You'd have far more siblings of I only shaged women." And went right back to his work emails.

so i wore a pride flag pin to work the other day and the kids were all interested (obviously) (find me a classroom of preschoolers who are not obsessed with rainbows) (i'll wait) so they crowded around to see.
"aww!" they said, "it's a flag!!"
but the thing is: they're little. a lot of them don't really have a handle on all their mouth sounds yet.
such as, notably, that tricky tricky "L" sound.

It was a hazy afternoon, neither sunny nor cloudy.
Mephiles is spending time alone with a sad look on his face in a corner of a cafe in Soleana Castle Town.
It seems as though the dark heart, whose true intentions no one can fathom, is playing around and enjoying the daily life of the "foolish world"…? 🤔
A turbulent and peaceful moment flows by slowly.

I have a longer response I'm writing up, but I did want to drop a shorter response first to a sentiment I saw in a lot of the feedback I received:
"I'm afraid I won't know/will be unsure"
Well, the main solution to this is active learning! You have to learn how to spot antiblackness when it is happening, because it won't always be obvious! You don't have to stay unsure! Or, that's when you find your Black peers and support them when they speak on it! Have actual community with Black people, who speak on it!
Also, I recognize you won't always be able to spot things. That's fine. But one of the easiest things you can do is point out whitewashing. It's a common occurrence. You know full well when a character doesn't look like... Them. When someone's hair has changed, skin tone is completely different... That's overt. You don't even have to be rude when saying something. Don't have to have a master's in antiracism for that 🤣
Anyway, I've posted them before, but if you are unsure what antiblackness looks like in your fan spaces (and maybe even outside, bc it all connects), here are two lists of 143 examples I collected (first link within this post):
