THY ART IS MURDER
Formed in: 2006
Sound: Deathcore
Thy Art Is Murder are the deathcore entity coming from Australia right now. Therefore they are one of the few bands from Down Under that have actually made it. Their latest record HOLY WAR is coming in June and Thy Art Is Murder aren’t getting tired of spreading their message, which is “Hate”. Fun Fact: There is probably no other band worshiping the pentagram like Thy Art Is Murder, a thing they learned from Slayer and Slipknot for sure.  –Empericon

“People sometimes think that because I’m in a Christian band and I tour and I talk about Jesus on stage all the time that I don’t have problems,” he said. “I do. I do fall. I try my best to walk a really faithful life, in God’s grace. The record really hits on that topic a lot.”

Although Cattle Decapitation’s lyrics can be viewed as advocating animal rights, which has been a theme the band have maintained throughout their seven-album career, Ryan explains that the concept is not that simple.
“To me it’s almost like animals don’t have rights. There are laws that are put in place to protect animals, but with us being a dominating species, animals don’t have rights, not as long as there’s fur trade and not as long as there’s factory farming.” Â

EMPEROR
Formed in: 1991
Sound: Black Metal
Christophe Szpajdel’s emblematic design for Norwegian black metal band Emperor calls upon a fiercely balanced symmetry of unapproachable barbs. Bookended by larger first and last letters that fan out like bat wings, the white logo’s ornamental lines reference the ornate details of blackletter’s uppercase. It’s crisp and clean, like the cutting shrieks that perforate the machine gun drums and barbaric din of an Emperor track. Sometimes, the logo appears as a single letter—the middle “e” emblazoned on a shield–fitting for these warriors against Christianity, whose early members were associated with church burnings. –Marnie Sehayek

“The energy that we produce as a band together and our beliefs are high on our own selves. We love what we’re doing cause it has a lot of feeling and we don’t have limitations. I no longer have the cross on my drum set because I don’t have the same set-up or a place to put it. However, our logo has the blasphogram which contains the inverted cross. It represents my own beliefs and is a sign of freedom. You don’t want to listen to no preacher tell you if you don’t submit this and that is going to happen to you.” Â

DEATH
Formed in: 1983

Lead vocalist Chuck Schuldiner designed the Death logo and its various incarnations during the length of his career. In 1991, before the release of Human, he cleaned up the logo taking out more intricate details and the “T” in the logo was swapped from an inverted Cross to a more regular looking “T”, one reason being to quash any implication of religion.  –Wikipedia

“People do a lot of crazy things. That to me, the mentality of…I don’t want to sound bad but, for somebody to come in [with a Slayer tattoo] and you know, we sign their arm, and then they’ll come back with [the signatures] tattooed… that’s just crazy. Not that I’m talking bad on anybody but that’s just kind of (cringes)…psycho. (laughs) I mean, I don’t even have any Slayer tattoos.” Â
