Killers having less than favorable things to say about other killers. Danny Rolling on Gerard Schaefer: “This guy has got real problems, doesn’t he? Schaefer is a little too full of himself and we can easily figure out the content of substance he is filled with. It smells like something pooling in a sewage treatment plant. He is just a spooky little punk who gets his kicks out of intimidating people. He’s a bluffer. He wants anyone who has the displeasure of entertaining him to believe he holds a full house, but if you call his bluff, you’ll find he only has a pair of deuces – two pitiful excuses for being barely human.” John Wayne Gacy on Jeffrey Dahmer: “If Jeffrey Dahmer doesn’t meet the legal test of insanity, God help the one that does meet it. I mean, it – it has to really be something. If Jeffrey Dahmer doesn’t meet it, then nobody does.” Charles Manson on Ted Bundy: “Bundy’s a rumpkin, Bundy’s a poop butt, Bundy’s his momma’s boy. Bundy’s out there trying to prove something to his own manhood. That’s got nothing to do with me. I don’t roll around with poop people like that. I stand with people that can stand with themselves.” Edmund Kemper on Herbert Mullin: “He had a habit of singing and bothering people when somebody tried to watch TV. So I threw water on him to shut him up. Then, when he was a good boy, I’d give him some peanuts. Herbie liked peanuts. That was effective, because pretty soon he asked permission to sing. That’s called behavior modification treatment.”

I don’t think writers realize that “strong female character” means “well written female character” and not just “female character who punches stuff and shoots stuff”

It’s always surprising to me when people argue that Loki should be okay about being adopted just because he was adopted into a privileged family. Like, he should be grateful or something instead of completely devastated when the context of his adoption was Really Not Good. Material and symbolic wealth doesn’t make up for dysfunctional family relationships. It doesn’t erase the possibility of internalizing hatred for your own identity, nor does it prevent identity crises in general. Having material and symbolic wealth may give you financial stability and power, but it doesn’t make you overall a stable person.
One individual’s ability to cope with a devastating situation also doesn’t mean that all individuals will be able to do so. Loki doesn’t cope with things the same way that Thor does, and that in itself doesn’t make Loki evil or wrong. Loki’s tendency towards extreme emotional outbursts and self destructive habits, don’t inherently make him evil, and mocking those things specifically ignores the fact that a shit ton of people have a lot of trouble coping things and do just the same things. Loki is absolutely responsible for what he does, but his emotional and behavioral problems aren’t things that should be belittled.
It’s just a shitty thing to do, especially for people who identify with those aspects of his character. You can’t place the same expectations for coping on all people and you can’t expect everyone to be okay with situations that you, yourself, would (presumably) easily accept. Nothing at all ever works that way, and heck Thor knows that because he frequently approaches Loki with empathy and understanding when those around Loki would rather have nothing to do with him at all. It’s because he recognizes that there’s more to Loki than what he is currently choosing to do, and that there are other issues going on.

Never forget these moments.
This was after she struck him too.
Whether it was because of Thor or for himself, he cared about her safety.
