Complete view of film playing in space along with supporting work.

Captured still of film playing in exhibition space alongside other work. I would have liked to have moved the wall with the painting on it over to the side slightly, as it is cutting out a corner of the video, but logistically I could not do this without potentially collapsing the wall on the other side.

I decided to feature some of my supporting/development work within the exhibition space alongside my film. On one of the walls, I stuck some of my sculptures to it, almost as though they were fridge magnets. I decided to put my painting on the other wall to complete the space, and to compliment the colours of the sculptures, both on the other wall and within the film.

Work laid out in studio space for submission.
It looks a bit messy due to a last minute decision to put my larger painting in the exhibition space along with my film. The other paintings are on flat surfaces rather than canvases so couldn’t be hung on the wall the same way as the smaller one here has.

‘Playtimes Over’ 2022
Final outcome of film once I got to a place where I was happy with it. I decided to layer a zoomed in clip of my feet over one that showed more of the leg. This, to me, brought home the idea of communicating a memory; for a repeated, everyday action like this, playing with toys as a child, this is the way memories tend to play in my head.

Once I got my film to a point I was happy with, I made arrangements in the collage to have it projected onto a wall.
The process of booking out a laptop to play the film on was harder than i expected, so i will bare this in mind for future film/digital works.

I tried a few layering the two films walking from each side on top of each other. At first I liked the chaos in these, it looks like two people walking right into each other then through each other like ghosts.

Continued to try different editing techniques, by layering the films on top of another. The ending of this one is a bit clunky, but it was still interesting to see what different things I could do with it.

Also tried walking from the opposite side.

I also tried filming with socks on, which made the process considerably less painful, however I’m not sure if it works as well, as it doesn’t capture the feeling as much.

Playing around with different affects, filters, lighting and speed. I realised I forgot to remove the editing software watermark on this one.
