Pathworking and Astral Travel
Tumblr media
In spirit work, we often connect with the spirits that have crossed over and are present in the physical world. However, there are also ways to cross over into the spirit world and connect with spirits in their home environment.
Pathworking
As I mentioned in a previous post, a pathworking is a specific type of meditation where you go on a psychic journey, but are still anchored to your physical body. It’s sort of like dipping your toes into the spirit world.
There are two important elements to a pathworking: a clear entrance/exit point and a way to retrace your steps. Pathworking journeys are typically cyclical — there is both a journey out and a return where you go back the way you came. This makes it easier to fully return your consciousness to your body, and failing to do so can cause you to feel disoriented upon the return.
Your entry/exit point can be absolutely anything, but common examples include a door, a gateway, a tree (or sometimes The World Tree), a cave/tunnel, or a natural landmark like a beach or mountaintop. What’s important is that it’s recognizable and easy to find your way back to.
If you want to try pathworking, make a rough “road map” of your journey beforehand. This doesn’t have to be super specific, but it should contain the following: a goal for the pathworking (such as to connect with a certain spirit), an entry/exit point, and a general idea for the route you’re going to take. If you’re worried about getting lost, author Thea Sabin recommends using “the Theseus trick.” Like in the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, you can tie a golden thread or rope to your entry point and the other end to your astral body. If you get lost, you can follow the thread back.
Pathworking is fairly beginner friendly, and I highly, highly, highly recommend starting with pathworking and becoming comfortable with this method before trying astral travel. Even for more advanced witches, pathworking is often a better option than astral travel because it’s less involved and requires a little bit less effort. I personally prefer pathworking for most situations.
Performing a Pathworking
Before you begin, establish a clear goal for your pathworking and write out a rough “road map.” At the very least, you should know what your purpose is, where your entry point is, and how to find your way back.
Begin in a dark, quiet room. Cleanse the room by burning incense, diffusing or spraying essential oils, or using a ritual broom to sweep out old energy.
Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down and begin meditating. You may want to play meditation music, practice breathing techniques, or use some other method to help you reach a meditative state.
Once you reach a meditative state (you should know what this feels like if you have experience with meditation), see yourself standing at your entry point. This is your entrance to the astral realm.
Set out on your pathworking.
When you are ready to leave the astral realm, you will need to find your way back to your entry point. Once you reach your entry point, it should be fairly easy to return to your body.
Once you’re fully present in your physical body, use your favorite method to ground yourself.
Write down everything you experienced during your pathworking in a journal.

Astral Travel
If pathworking is dipping your toes into the spirit world, astral travel is diving in the deep end. Also called spirit flight and hedge riding, astral travel includes actually sending your soul/consciousness out of your body and into the spirit world. As you might guess, this is more complicated and requires more effort than pathworking. For this reason, astral travel is not beginner-friendly. If you are completely new to meditation, witchcraft, and spirit work, it’s best to learn to pathwork before you attempt astral travel.
A word of warning: you may want to avoid astral travel at times when you’re in a very vulnerable or volatile emotional state. Some days you just aren’t up for it, and that’s okay. On those days, a pathworking or another form of spirit work may be a better option.
Triggering Spirit Flight
In astral travel, a trigger of some kind is used to help disconnect the soul from the physical body. Common triggers include drumming, special music, shaking a rattle, chanting, and dancing.
You can find shamanic drumming tracks on YouTube that can help you achieve astral travel. If you find that repetitive motion helps you trance out, you may look into getting a small drum or rattle to play.
Animal Guides
In many cultures, those who travel into the spirit world do so with the guidance and protection of an animal spirit. From the Norse fylgja, to the shamanic power animal, to the witch’s familiar, history is full of examples of these types of guides.
Before you begin astral travel, do a pathworking to meet your animal guide. It’s important to note that you aren’t choosing an animal guide — only meeting one that has always been with you. Your guide may be an animal that you like or identify with, or it may not. When I first began experimenting with astral travel, my guide was a coyote — an animal I had never identified with before, but who I learned was deeply connected to my inner self.
It’s important to always have your animal guide with you when going on astral journeys, as they are an important source of protection and power. They may also literally guide you to the things you need to see and the spirits you need to meet.
Flying Ointments
Historical accounts describe witches using “flying ointment” to help them achieve spirit flight. These traditional flying ointments contained toxic and/or hallucinogenic plants like belladonna, datura, henbane, mandrake, and opium poppies. For obvious reasons, most modern witches do not use these herbs.
Please do not try to create your own flying ointment with poisonous plants. If you’re a true traditionalist and feel like you just have to try a historically accurate flying ointment, Bane Folk Apothecary sells several. Bane Folk is run by Sarah Anne Lawless, a kickass witch who knows her stuff and produces safe, medicinal products inspired by traditional flying ointment formulas. I am usually very pro-DIY, especially when it comes to witchcraft, but this is one case where it really is best to defer to a professional.
To create a modern, non-toxic flying ointment: heat eight ounces (or one cup) of poppy seed oil over low heat on the stove. Once the oil is warm, add 2 ounces (or ¼ cup) of beeswax into the oil. (Use carnauba wax for a vegan alternative.) Take the mixture off the heat, and allow it to cool off a bit. Once it has cooled (but before it’s begun to solidify), add nine drops each of mugwort essential oil, star anise essential oil, and peppermint essential oil. Pour the mixture into a mason jar and seal tightly. To extend your ointment’s shelf life, add a few drops of Vitamin E oil and store in the refrigerator. If you don’t have access to essential oils or prefer a more traditional method, you can buy dry herbs and infuse them into your oil instead — to do this, crush up 2.5 ounces (or 1/3 cup) each of dried mugwort, star anise, and peppermint and add them to a mason jar; add enough oil to the jar to cover the herbs completely, with about an inch of oil above them; seal the jar and place it in a sunny window for 2-3 weeks to infuse; and finally, strain the herbs out of the oil with a mesh sieve or a cheesecloth. You can then add your Vitamin E oil and beeswax to create an ointment.
This modern recipe does not contain hallucinogens, but it does contain plants that are commonly used in magic to increase psychic abilities and aid in astral travel. You can say an incantation over this ointment while making it to add some extra magical potency. Applying the flying ointment can also become a sort of ritual that prepares you for spirit flight by helping you slip into a more spiritual head space.
Performing Astral Travel/Spirit Flight
Before you begin, know why you are journeying to the spirit world. You should always have a clear goal for your astral journeys.
Begin in a dark, quiet room. Cleanse the room by burning incense (mugwort incense aids in astral travel), diffusing or spraying essential oils, or using a ritual broom to sweep out old energy.
Use your favorite method to ground yourself.
If you are choosing to use a flying ointment, rub it on your skin now.
Hold a protective item in one of your hands. I like physical items for protection during spirit flight, because they can ground you and help you find your way back to your body. Examples of protective items include a sprig of rue, a piece of iron, or a protective crystal like black tourmaline. If you ever feel scared or uncomfortable during your journey, you can bring this object into the astral realm to protect you. It will also keep your body safe while your consciousness is occupied.
Start up your trigger, whether this is drumming, rattling, dancing, etc.
Allow yourself to drift into a trance state, and then to disconnect from your body.
Call your animal guide to you.
Set out on your journey in the spirit world.
When you are ready, feel yourself returning to your physical body. Allow yourself to come back slowly — don’t rush it.
Ground yourself. One good way to ground after astral travel is by eating a snack.
Write down your experiences in a journal.

Note
Lady Diana, you have no idea how valuable your youtube readings are for me. While your posts here are also very priceless, I really see the cards' meanings in action when you're actually reading them. I would love to know which cards look good or bad at first but may actually be the opposite? I listed some from your readings but I want to make sure I get them all. Sorry if that seems greedy. Thank you for everything!💚
“False Alarm” Tarot Cards
The Hermit
Your first instinct might be to think, “I will die alone and unloved”. But very often, it just means your soulmate is a Virgo. Because this is Virgo’s card.
Justice
Some people draw the Justice card, and think a legal trouble is on the horizon. But often, it only means the wrongs in your life are about to be righted.
The Hanged Man
The go-to meanings for this are delays and sacrifices. But sometimes, The Hanged Man is only telling you that life is about to feel like a vacation.
The Devil
Many people are afraid that it means abuse, which it can. But in this card, the couple’s shackles are loose. So they can easily escape if they actually try.
The Tower
“My world will come crashing down!” tends to be the leading interpretation. But more often than not, it actually means, “Someone will rock your world.”
Five of Wands
This is a card of conflict, yes. But the fear it creates is unfounded. If you look at the card, no one is really hitting anyone. They are just playing around.
Nine of Wands
This one is often associated with the anxiety card, the Nine of Swords. But they are very different. In this, the enemy has already been vanquished.
Ten of Wands
Burdens. That is what everybody says. But the man in this card is not burdened by trouble. He is “burdened” by his harvest. He is bringing home the bacon.
Five of Pentacles
It can predict poverty, yes. But more importantly, it says that when poverty does come, help can be accessed. The couple is right outside a church – a sanctuary.
Seven of Pentacles
It does say, “Sorry. Keep waiting.” But what it is really saying is, “You are not waiting in vain.” Your rewards are guaranteed. They are just not ready yet.
Five of Cups
Most readers immediately see grief, and they are right. But there are two cups left standing. The future is still safe. Life still looks promising.
Eight of Cups
This card does not mean, “You are in danger. Walk away.” It means that while you are comfortable where you are, you will soon leave for a better path.
Seven of Swords
This is not always saying that you are the thief’s victim. Sometimes it means you are the one who will get away. Or that someone will sweep you off your feet.
Eight of Swords
No, you are not trapped. You are only feeling trapped. Yes, you need saving. But only from yourself. Let go of your hallucinations, and all will be well.

No Contact - How Can I Heal? Pick a Card
Tumblr media
Hi, all. I did this two days ago. Don’t judge me for having leftover phones. I’ve had even more and sold them off, plus I’m old. Instead of the usual “No Contact” I’ve seen on YouTube where it feels a bit creepy, like stalking an ex or someone who’s blocked you, this is a (healthier) “No Contact” reading for those of you who have experienced a profound loss through a death or a traumatic separation and you are still grieving the situation or require closure to heal. So, if you haven’t experienced that sort of loss (of family, partner, friend, etc), then this reading might be more particular to others.
I’ve had a couple of experiences where I needed some type of closure to move on, so apply these as healing messages. I asked advice from my higher self, your higher self and the person involved’s higher self, and these are the results. If you’re ready to hear such a message, please take a moment to pick a pile or phone or number. If it doesn’t resonate, you might pick another pile or maybe there is no message for you here (but for someone else, instead).
Take care.

Sigil - “Optimism comes easily to me”
It’s not always easy to look on the bright side. Even the most upbeat and positive people still struggle through dark times, after all. Being consistently optimistic often seems like requires something akin to a willing suspension of disbelief, because deep down we all know that tragedy and pain are an inevitable part of existence.
Optimism isn’t about avoiding or ignoring the pain and suffering that comes with life. We all know that the people we love will eventually die. We all know that sickness, anger, loneliness, fear, hunger, defeat, and humiliation are part of the cost for the great joys that they accompany. Being optimistic is a decision to accept all of those things, and to focus on the glowing beauty of stars of the night sky, rather than the inky blackness that surrounds them.
That’s what this sigil speaks to.

Sigil - “Through the storms and flames of life, our love continues to grow.”
Life is a dangerous, chaotic, and stressful experience. From that first disorienting moment of being pulled from the warmth and safety of the womb, to those final uncertain moments before the spark of consciousness fades, the whole thing is a hurricane of joys and heartbreaks. Thankfully, there’s also lot of downtime. But one of the things that makes it all manageable is the strength that comes from a solid, loving relationship.
Fires, flood, storms, droughts, economic collapse, pandemics, murder hornets … It’s all better with someone you love at your side. With the right person, this adversity and turmoil become bearable. In time, the become line items on a list of obstacles overcome. The bonds forged in those moments, however, remain strong.
That bond of love and partnership — romantic or platonic — is what this sigil represents.

🌜 How to learn tarot?🌛
Well, first of all I'd like to say that there isn't one way to learn tarot. Everybody has a different approach, cause everybody's experience is different.
Use the tips you see to begin in tarot, to help you in the beginning but if along the way you feel doing in another way that's totally okay my dear.
Tumblr media
So here is step by step a mini guide about how to start in tarot.
The first thing and the most important thing is to cleanse your tarot deck!
You can do it in many ways. You can burn incense (lavender and myrrh are my two favorite incenses ever) and pass the deck or each card, as you wish, through the smoke. You can also burn rosemary as an alternative for the sage.
You can meditate while holding your deck. Visualize all the bad energies going out from the deck and instead put your own energy in your deck.
You can put your deck outside under the light of the moon and ask to the moon to cleanse it. Let it the whole night or 2-3 hours. As you wish!
You can put a crystal on the deck, for example an amethyst, a lapis lazuli, an obsidian... Any crystals that will protect your deck.
Second, read the book if your deck is delivered with one.
In the beginning it helps to understand what each card means. But don't pay too much attention to it.
Third, use your intuition and trust it!
Try to meditate, even if it is just 2 minutes, before a reading. It helps you connecting with your inner self, to free your mind and be more focused. It also help you to be more in touch with your intuition.
What do you feel when you see the spread, what kind of emotion does it give you? What is your first impression?
Then look at the pictures, what feeling does it give you? Same for the colors and the numbers.
Try to understand the combination too. I always do it by 3 cards. I read every three card (if the spread is large) and I try to understand what the sense could be.
For example if I see the moon, the mountain and the sun card in the beginning of a spread I will say that you are in conflict with yourself but soon you will feel better.
But if I do a 4 cards spread, I read each card individually and then I try to understand what the first card + the second card mean. Then what the second card + the third card mean and what the third card + the fourth card mean.
(Hope it's clear lol)
Now let's talk about protection! Cause yeah you need and you have to protect yourself!
Of course here are my methods, take what resonates with you! ❤️
Cleanse your place, your bedroom has to be tidy and cleaned. Cleanse it with incense. What I like to do is for example if I do a love reading I will burn rose incense or something fruity like violet. I try to match the incense with the reading.
Put yourself under a protection bubble. Close your eyes and imagine a light going out from your third eye and becoming bigger and bigger. Imagine your place under the protection of this bubble. While you put yourself under it say loudly "Nothing and no one are allowed to enter this bubble, this bubble protects me, it protects my energies". But for example if you do a reading for someone else you can say "Nothing and no one are allowed to enter this bubble, except (insert the initials or name of the person), this bubble protects me and this person, it protects my and her/his energies.
Light candles. If you work with the angels light a candle and ask their protection and their help during the reading, same thing if you work with the Greek pantheon, Nordic deities, etc. For example me, I always ask the protection and the help of the archangels. I ask them to help me to understand the meaning of the cards, to guide the person who came to me and to answer to her/his questions.
When you finish your reading don't forget to thank your tool!
Hope this helps you ❤️⭐
