When did you notice?

I always ask myself

A simple question

That turns into a mind maze

I always wonder

If you have ever

Noticed me

I start this question

With an image in mind,

One to keep me grounded

While I use up my time

Did you notice the days

That I walked next to you?

Did you notice the times

I called out for you?

Did you notice the risk

I took, when I said yes

The same way I let a stranger

Into my home was the same way

That I let you all in

Did you notice my patience

As I stood very still

Too scared to make changes

That would leave me alone

Did you notice my willingness

To love you like that

I was looking for the warmth

Only a sun could give

Did you notice the times

I looked over and fell

Did you even try to catch me

Oh no, you were doing so well

But now I notice

I cannot feel the same

After feeling and feeling

I’m like a broken record machine

So did you notice that

I can be a little picky

But somehow I always end up

Choosing the same thing,

Someone who doesn’t see

The person he got

I sure always wonder

If you noticed back then

That I really wanted

You, more than a friend

And I hope you notice

That for me, this feeling…

It won’t happen again

Loneliness

Loneliness is a word I’ve know my whole life.

We’ve all felt the sting of pain when it settles in.

Alone with ourselves and our minds.

The countless thoughts that spiral down negatively with no end.

I’ve learned this word has more than one definition as of late.

Maybe it’s another way it could hit. I’m not too sure.

I’ve learned I’ve never felt as lonely as I do now.

Surrounded by family, rotting and withering away in front of me.

Surrounded by people who I call my friends but feel no real connection with.

Surrounded with the best support in my life who live miles away.

I’ve never felt so alone.

The loneliness continues to consume with each passing day.
