also it’s so frustrating because gavi looked less sharp yesterday than he did when he first came back and that is all down to his limited minutes and the constant change of position when he is put in. i know we need to protect him, and he needs limited minutes, but what we’re doing right now is NOT helping and stuff like this makes players lose confidence. you’re taking a guy who has always been a huge part of this team (with a defined role) and starting him out when he came back with more minutes, and now you’re decreasing those and changing where he’s subbed in every other game like he’s just some throwaway player and if anything is going to hurt confidence it’s that. he needs a pat down role and he’s not being given that. in my opinion he should be pedri’s sub for now, it’s the role that most suits his abilities + he’s like the only player that can replicate a lot of what pedri does. but we don’t do that because we also want to run pedri into the ground instead of rotating him when we can 😂👍

i know “playing through injuries” is a thing in sports but i feel like that should ONLY apply in some kind of final or something. why in the world would you let a 17 year old continue playing in a game against LEGANES? imagine if he had gotten tackled again and it made the injury even worse? it’s just so irresponsible on everyone’s part, i don’t care if a player says they can keep going (they always will, especially the young ones) the actual staff there to MAKE decisions regarding injuries/health should take them out

imo, a big challenge i have always believed that managers face is: how do you keep your team motivated across the long season, especially in the league? how do you make them have that drive and hunger? unfortunately, it’s a hard task, especially when you’re a “bigger” club who almost always expects to win the “easier” games. we don’t show enough drive or want to win in la liga games outside of a few of the players; they love acknowledging they need to win but it is not reflected in how they play.
