August 1992. I had just finished my very first LIVE set on the radio with @wreckingcrewallstars89 (WRAS 88.5) and 2 days later my friend Myla (rap buyer at Tower Records) called me and said that there was a kid in the store with a very specific list of records he was looking for. he explained to her that he had heard this guy spinning on the radio and wanted to buy the same records so he could go home and practice some of the things he heard him doing. noticing his enthusiasm about the records she started smiling and revealed that she knew me. he didn’t believe her at first, so she actually called from the store and put us on the phone while she was working the register. that quick convo turned into a meetup at Club XS (to see Home Team) which then turned into this kid later morphing into one of the ILLEST I’ve ever seen on a set of turntables. thank you @kleversworld for this acknowledgment, seeing you succeed as a back to back DMC champion (2000 & 2001) and various other things over the years meant a lot to this old guy right here 😉 and Rest In Peace Myla 😢 (at Atlanta, Georgia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_cxBwhBILE/?igshid=1734c13oegcz1
