Ital Tek // "Jupiter Ascent" (Planet Mu)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• "[Ital Tek's] combination of clinical beats and human vocal samples coalesces into a sort of sci-fi quality that never wavers, and it's fun to hear footwork elements enmesh so easily with Ital Tek's futurist vision."

Pearson Sound // "Starburst" (Hessle Audio)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• "Kennedy lets the light in gradually, cloaking his rhythm with a slow, evolving synthesizer that eventually turns into a cosmic pulse. The drums, in all their staccato, un-funky, machinistic glory, remain the star of the show, with Kennedy unable to resist their harsh, exciting bleat."

Logos // "Swarming (feat. Rabit) [Keysound Recordings]
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• "When Parker collaborates with others, their contributions practically glow in the pitch black. "Swarming," his collaboration with Rabit, feels so empty that it could collapse on itself."

Stevie Wonder // "Do I Do (U-tern Disco Edit)"
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• Another stellar track put together by U-tern. This edit is the bomb for good reason; it doesn't deviate too far from the original. It will have heads turning and get the dance floor bumpin'.

Broken Bells // "Holding on for Life" (Columbia)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• A mid-tempo, psychedelic-funk number that finds James Mercer honing his falsetto skills and exploring themes of loneliness. Their new album, After the Disco, finds it's release early next year (January 14th). But, it'll probably leak before that, so keep your eyes open.

Skelecta // "Sublow (Drop It)" [Four40 Records]
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• Relentless and eerie strings crawl through arpeggiated pings, offbeat stabs, and several time changes. Any fan of Fracture or Exit Records will dive right into this grime bomb.

Maya Jane Coles // "Burning Bright (feat. Kim Ann Foxman)" [I / Am / Me]
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• The best part of this version is what we can only describe as foghorns blowing. As Foxman says, "Through the storm...". The sound is miraculous, sexy, and deep. One of the best deep house remixes we've heard this year.

DJ Rashad // "She a Go (feat. DJ Spinn, Taso)" (Hyperdub)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• Touched with the trilling hi-hats of trap, there's a cross-genre slinkiness to these songs that was largely missing in the straight-ahead forms of old...for music that is so frequently intense and hard-hitting, many tracks here possess an impossibly smooth finish.

Tessela // "Gateway" (R&S Records)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• "...euphoric chords counterpoint equally relentless percussion, but soon their effervescence starts to flicker like an unreliable memory. Eventually they collapse entirely, only to reappear, slightly tweaked, on "Gateway." Here they judder beneath kicks SO BOOMING that each hit makes the ENTIRE TRACK RECOIL."

Mella Dee // "Things Don't Change (James Welsh Aircon Remix)" [Shabby Doll Records]
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• Bringing in the big guns on this one, James Welsh turns around a fairly tame bass tune into a tech house grinder. Mid-way through some orchestra strings adds a little sophistication to it and then drops in nicely round bass notes. Play this mid set when everybody's in the groove.

Waze & Odyssey // "Don't Bring Me Down" (Tsuba)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• A neat little EP, named after this title-track, is full of some fiery house. The A1 side is the standout, although it's not pushing any boundaries. It will heat up the dance floor fer sure, driven by its shimmering and beady snare. It has the typical expansive big-house W&O sound and a song structure that is reminiscent of their I Want You You You.

Ghost Culture // "Mouth" (Phantasy Sound)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
"Finely crafted, delicate songwriting through the mirror of dusty, analogue electronica yet with the ever present pulse of Detroit techno in the distance, in a style that is truly his own."

Special Request // "Body Armour" (Houndstooth)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
"Check the smooth piano in "Undead" or the pure pop basslines of "Body Armour," which climb and fall like overexcited children at a playground."
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• Goes well with tech songs by Tessela. The entire album is stacked with raw and stripped jams.

Laszlo Dancehall // "Fatty Que" (Man Make Music)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
"...ethereal electronic excursions into the hinterlands of house."
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• A truly raw house experience. This thing really bangs!

Volta Cab // "I Cannot Sleep" (Voyeurrhythm)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
"Classic warehouse beats in combination with twisted vocals."
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• Hit off the dancefloor with this banger from Ukrainian native. It's UK sounding in both aspects of those countries.

Art of Noise // "Moments in Love" (ZTT)
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
"...an ode to sensuality that appeared on both Into Battle and Who's Afraid, was remixed and released as a single in 1985."
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
• It's got a latent beat under the echo of synths. Put a dubstep beat underneath and really let it ride.
