Adrian Lux Rocks Gavrillo @ The Forum Aberdeen

It was a huge pleasure to have the opportunity to work with Adrian Lux last week at the Forum for Gavrillo Thursdays.  Maybe i have found a hidden talent in light jockey-ing!!! Two fantastic warm up sets from both Gavrillo resident DJ Bobby Cooper www.djbobbycooper.co.uk and CoCo resident DJ Joe MacIndoe.

Swedish based, Grammy nominated (2011) producer Adrian Lux, best known for his highly acclaimed single 'Teenage Crime'

Blowing up European dance floors for over three years, it's never mattered what kind of club or crowd that is in attendance - techno, house, or indie; they all adore Adrian Lux. With 'Teenage Crime' certified Platinum in Australia and Adrian receiving worldwide DJ support from the likes of Tiësto, David Guetta, Avicii, Max Vangeli, Ferry Corsten, Sander van Doorn and more, all eyes are on this rising star. Adrian has been hailed by many people as Eric Prydz successor. Recent remix work includes Britney Spears, Natalia Kills, Roger Sanchez, the TRON soundtrack, Miami Horror, PNAU and more. Adrian has toured the US with Tiësto, and is currently embarked on a 2011 worldwide tour including sets at Ultra Music Festival, Beyond Wonderland, Ibiza, Australia's Parklife; with dates through Europe, UK, Scandinavia and more. Basically, The Emulator is a clear touch screen and a projector. Running on a PC is the Emulator software which sits between your chosen DJ app and your fingers to take over the controls onscreen. Simple. All looks rather cool to me, and have the magnificent space age appeal of a sci-fi booth.  Obviously, it's not for everyone. Turntablists are going to have a hard time doing anything on such a setup. But more mix based DJs, or those preferring something like Ableton to make music, this has real possibilities. The one thing I hadn't realised was how interactive this setup could be. I was pretty made up to see my name up in lights.  Given the sheer size of The Emulator and the fact that I'm in the UK, I'd say that the chances of getting one in for review are remote. The costs of shipping alone (with insurance) are prohibitive. I do however hope that they'll make it to Musikmesse so that we can have an extended play and pass on our thoughts some more. Unless of course there's a very capable writer near Mississauga in Canada who can stop by sometime with a camera for a play.
