A #tbt and an impromptu thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to wish me a happy birthday last week tuesday. On the day of my anniversary of escaping the womb, I left work early to go run a 5k. Who I have become at this point in my life I have no idea. The day after I had the absolute privilege of going to the @katrafilmseries and seeing myself on screen at the regal cinema in time square. On Saturday I got a chance to dj with my brother @brianboxley and to my absolute surprise he revealed that it was my birthday to a room of close to 150 ppl. Which, if you know me, I absolutely loved 😑🙄. Incident orchestrated wholely by @laurenann_13 who firmly believes that every one deserves to feel special on their birthday. The word "why" is important. As you grow up "why" is used to expand and contract the boundaries of your universe because you come to understand why things may or may not be possible. Why is there no bridge between St. Croix and St.Thomas was one my why's. A question that has probably been asked by virgin islands children before me and after me. A natural question for one growing up on St. Croix I think. Why plane, why boat, why not bridge? It wasn't something that was at the forefront of my mind as most why's tend not to be so I didn't really seek out the answer. The question, however was answered for me recently via a random post on Facebook that inadvertently flung me back to my childhood. "Basically you are looking west from the Virgin Islands at the bottom, to Puerto Rico, then the high mountains of Hispaniola, then on to Cuba with its mountains on its east. The light blue to the right in the picture is Turks and Caicos. You can see the depth of the Puerto Rico Trench, the deepest part of the Atlantic ocean.
