Memories

I dont like spring cleaning. Dont get me wrong, i like CLEAN AND TIDY (though you can be surprised sometimes), but spring cleaning is....different. I dont like spring cleaning because of what it entails: throwing out the usless cr@p assembled in the last 12 months. Its not that im a hoarder PER SE, but i have a lot of items with specific meaning. Gifts, tokens, nicknacks i cant part with. But holding onto those isn't really a good excuse, i could just NOT throw them out right? Well, thats only half the problem.... The real issue is past relationships. I have items of sentimental value from years far behind me, dated waaaaaay back to my first girlfriend, and i cant part with them. Its not that im still hung up (most of them ended pretty badly, but i get over it....eventually) but these aren't simple things that you could pass for being sourced from somebody else, we're talking large valentines cards with heartfelt messages, drawings, videos, heck there's a personalised JIGSAW PUZZLE that i got for xmas a few years back. See, in reality, i still have that stuff because i think that it would be unfair to simply toss such a strong expression of feeling towards me. On the other hand, i really shouldn't keep them. I have no benefit from keeping them, and yet here we are. I suppose what's worse is, WHEN spring cleaning, you start rummaging through the piles of stuff and you come across something. A simple thing that hits you with so many different emotions at once you'd probably be considered mentally unstable. And you have to choose. Throw it away, and know that in the very very end you didnt feel like you respected the relationship at that moment the gift was given, or stash it away and wait another 12 months to get hit by it again. God dammit i hate spring cleaning....especially outside of spring...
