Comforting Reader After A Nightmare

Note(s): Absolutely! I'm going to split it into two parts (one for CR1 guys and one for CR2)!

Grog

Probably doesn’t realize you woke up from a nightmare at first. He’s sound asleep still, snoring away like a tank. 

Would end up waking up at hearing your sniffling or you moving around a lot to try and get comfortable again. 

He’d see you crying and go into protective mode instantly. He’d want to know what happened, who hurt you, and why you didn’t wake him up previously.

Grog would listen as you tell him it was a nightmare that caused your current state. Grog would nod and tell you that he used to have nightmares all the time before he states that he’ll dream with you this time.

Like this time you both will be dreaming together so he’ll keep you safe in your dream and in real life. It’s a very sweet gesture from Grog and he is very eager about it that you can’t help but feel better.

Percy

Percy is pretty cranky when his sleep gets interrupted so he’s ready to have some biting remark when he’s pulled awake from your tossing and turning.

The remark disappears when he sees the state you’re in. The shaking and scared expression on his face. Percy is smart and can piece together what happened considering you both were just sleeping.

“I’ve got you, my love,” he’d say as he would hold you close and press his forehead to yours.

Percy isn’t the best at comforting others but he will try for you. He has gone through his fair share of nightmares after what happened with his family and the Briarwoods and he knows that the loneliness didn’t help.

So he’s not going to let you be alone now. He’s holding you close and while he might not say much, he is giving you that contact to let you know that he is there.

Scanlan

Scanlan also doesn’t wake up immediately but eventually does with your tossing and turning. He is still half asleep when he does wake up but seeing the tearstains on your cheek causes him to become wide awake.

He’ll ask you what happened as he reaches to find some kind of tissue or maybe just use the sheets to wipe your tears. He’s not lazy, he just doesn’t want to leave your side.

He’ll begin humming in hopes that calms you down. He would grab his lyre but it’s late and he is afraid of making lots of mistakes due to just waking up.

Just going to pepper kisses on your forehead and cheeks while humming some tune. 

Maybe give you some Bardic Inspiration as well in hopes that calms you down. A Song of Rest does sound perfect right now.

Vax

He's up instantly when he hears you wake up. He's got those rogue senses.

He notices you seem shaken and he'll take a hold of one of your hands, placing a kiss on the back and asking what's wrong.

He'll pet your head and play with your hair as he's listening. He'll offer to braid your hair too as a way to help relax you.

He admits that he has had many nightmares that had been difficult to deal with alone but promises that he is with you and nothing is going to harm you because he is here.

He'll gladly hold you close and whisper some Elvish as a promise that he won't leave you and that you are his soul and he's not giving you up without a fight.

Grog

So how do you use the bathroom? That's like question number 1 he would ask you. How do you poop?

Can you breath? Like is air a thing you can breath? Grog isn't the brightest but he doesn't want to accidentally kill his half fish friend.

Grog finds your tail and gills really cool. Super cool. How do you walk?

Definitely offers you ale. Ale is something you both have in common right? Also it could make you less shy.

Grog probably doesn't understand the concept of shy. Like you're quiet and don't like people? Get drunk you'll be fine.

Keyleth

Okay but Keyleth is so interested in you.

Mermaids are so cool. Like where are you from? How are you doing? Are you amazing at singing?

Probably gets upset with herself cause she's asking you lots of Siren v. Mermaid questions and realizing she probably seems a bit rude with it all.

You being shy is perfect cause Keyleth... Well she isn't shy! But people are scary. She gets that. So bonding over scary people is something you both do.

Okay but being a mermaid must get lonely cause you don't have legs. Keyleth would love to change into a goldfish or something to give you company in your pool.

Pike

Mom mode is activated.

You’re shy so she’s talking to you in the softest of voices, letting you know that it’s okay and that your tail is gorgeous.

Pike was a sailor so she’s probably seen other mermaids. She’ll ask you if you have family or any friends out there.

If you do then she’ll be happy to send a message or something to them the next time she’s on sea.

Pike is just super sweet and interested in learning about you but she’ll let you open up at your own pace.

Scanlan

I mean, not to be a stereotypical bard but....

So much flirting. When he learns that you’re shy then that’s even better because he’ll make all the comments about how cute you are when you blush.

Of course if he’s with Pike at this point then he’d still flirt but add “Alas I have a wife, unfortunately for you.”

Probably also asks a lot of the “Grog” questions (how do you poop being a number one question that he has).

Would like to learn of your history too. He is a lore bard so he’d be glad to hear from you. He’d be fine with singing you songs too about the lore he’s picked up.

Vax

He’s very interested when he sees that you’re a mermaid but there’s also some hesitance because what if you’re actually a siren? There’s a lot of common traits in both of them.

After getting to know you, Vax will apologize for his initial paranoia. He’s gone through a lot to make him paranoia.

Would like to hear you talk about yourself or what your life is like with being a mermaid. He’d tell you to take your time with opening up.

Initially takes your shyness as you also being paranoia but then realizes that you’re just shy. He does find it cute.

Vax definitely has his questions (how do you poop tho) but keeps them mostly to himself until you’ve opened up more.

Vex

Finds your scales to be lovely. Honestly does her best to make herself look less of a mess because she’s talking to an actual mermaid.

Remember how meticulous Vex was with the pixies? Well you’re a freaking mermaid so she absolutely wants to impress you.

Definitely asks if you would like to share snacks or tea. She’s sure she has some kind of tea set-- actually, maybe not tea.

Vex has so many questions for you but decides to hold them off for a bit because she doesn’t want to make you feel pressured. You’re shy enough without her badgering.

Probably takes Trinket to the side and tells him that you are not a fish and he can’t eat you. It’s a bit concerning.

S/O Taking a Hit and Needing Revived Part 2

Part 1

Note(s): So I did not mean to take so damn long to do the part 2 to this request. I promise I meant to but then it slipped my mind. Here it is (finally) so hopefully it’s enjoyable!

Scanlan

He is so focused on supporting the others and helping with their own stuff that he doesn’t notice the bolt coming towards him.

Let’s out an “oomph” as he’s pushed aside. He turns to you and is about to call you rude, only to freeze when he sees your body fall to the ground.

“Pike!” He is yelling. Yes everyone is still in combat and he’ll still focus on getting out of combat, but you just went down and his healing isn’t doing anything to help you.

After the battle he is holding you and yelling at Pike to hurry up and get over to you. He’s being very impatient but he needs to have you back.

Let’s out a huge sigh of relief as he holds you close before pulling away and giving you a forced smile. “If you wanted my attention, you didn’t need to die on me,” he’d joke but god he was so worried.

Tary

Tary is having Doty keep him safe so he really isn’t worried about being harmed himself, which is his mistake.

He sees you come over and is about to say something only to stop when he sees the look in your eyes before they glaze over and you fall.

Tary is frantic and ordering Doty to keep you both safe while he holds you and is frantically looking through all his patches and such in hopes he has something to save you.

After the battle, he just has tears running down his face as he’s waiting for Pike to heal you. He feels so useless as he’s holding your hand and waiting for you to return to him.

Cries even harder when you’re back. He holds you close to him and is just shaking as he tells you to never do that again.

Vax

He’s the rogue, his job is being the one to sneak around and deliver the killing blow. He didn’t even realize that someone was attempting to do the same to him.

An attempt that is failed as he hears you yell his name. He turns to look behind him only to see you get in the way of a poisoned blade aimed for him.

Vax isn’t a Barbarian, but he is raging as he deals with the attacker before moving your body somewhere safer for the time being. 

After the battle, he is rushing Pike over while praying to The Raven Queen. He already offered her his life for his sister, but there has to be more he can give to have you back.

Whatever deal he sold himself too yet again, he doesn’t care. He is holding you close to him when you’re back and he’s not letting you go for a long while.

Vex

She’s in the back shooting her arrows and casting her spells. Trinket is keeping the attackers off of her, but not all of them.

She turns when she hears a snap of a twig. Vex is very perceptive so she hears it and sees the enemy shooting some kind of spell towards her.

Her heart stops, but not because of the spell. Because you had jumped in the way to save her. Tears fall from her eyes as she shoots the enemy and tries to heal you but it fails. So she tries again and again and nothing is working!

Vex is screaming for Pike as she crumbles to the ground next to you, cradling your head in her lap. She can’t lose you. She’s not going to lose you.

“You had me so worried, darling,” she whispers as she presses her forehead to yours when you’re revived.

“Ooh can I eat these?” Grog would ask as you give him a bouquet of flowers. You explain to him that it’s a gift and so technically he could but they’re really just to show appreciation to him today. He tells you that he thinks they’re very pretty and will eat them daintily just for you.

Keyleth just lets out an adorable little gasp when you gift her the bouquet. She thinks it’s super sweet and is ready to gush about the different flowers you brought her. Probably knows flower language so she’s ready to see what exactly you have to say to her! Will give you a flower crown as your own, cute present.

Percy looks at the bouquet, not quite taking it yet. He hasn’t been gifted flowers in quite a while so he’s thinking how best to react. Of course he lets out a comment about how, “Lilies are so yesterday” but he takes them and gives you a thanks. Would set them in his workshop so he can glance to them when he takes breaks.

“These are pretty!” Pike really enjoys the flowers as you gift them to her. While she is a total badass, she loves being able to feel soft so these definitely put a warmth in her chest. She promises to try to keep these alive as long as she can.

Scanlan takes the flowers with a wide grin as he makes a comment like, “I knew you couldn’t resist me!” before bringing out his own present. He probably gifts you with a piece of jewelry that he thinks matches your eyes. But he gladly takes the flowers and uses them to hide the fact that he is a blushing mess at the cuteness of the gift.

“What’s the occasion, peach?” Vax would ask when you hold the bouquet to him. A soft smile is on his face because this is a sweet gift and he loves it. He honestly forgot about the holiday so he feels a tad guilty you got him a gift and he didn’t. So he gratefully takes the bouquet and grabs a flower out of it to put behind your ear.

Vex is torn between asking if you got a deal on them or if you made sure to get her the most expensive flowers. She deserves expensive, but gold should also be hoarded. So instead of asking she just gives you a bright smile and presses a kiss to your cheek as thanks.

I mean, Scanlan flirts with anything that has legs (and can give consent). Confessing to him feels like trying to survive a jump from a cliff as a goldfish. Who's to say he'd even feel the same, right?

Except you confessing your feelings to him catches him so off guard because he always flirts and keeps everyone else at a distance. So the fact that you're confessing to him, he is amazed he didn't chase you off with how he is.

But he's ecstatic. He's not used to romantic dates and stuff like that, but he'll definitely try! Well, he'll try for you anyway. 

Can't stop himself from flirting with you still, he tries to hold off on the more risque stuff though as this is actually real and not just him wanting to have a fun night.

Having A Touch Starved S/O

Grog

He'll make you a sandwich. That should help your starvation!

Although Grog is really touchy with select few people (and you're one of them). You won't be touch starved for long when he's involved.

Lots of head pats or him lifting you onto his shoulders. Hugs and kisses, not so much, but hopefully the other stuff he does is okay!

Doesn't know personal space though so you might have to ask him to tone it down if it becomes too overwhelming.

Percy

He's also touch starved but he doesn't really do anything about it. He's sure you have friends that'd give you hugs and cuddles.

He's busy working most of the time to engage in physical affection so don't expect a whole lot with him.

Would give you kisses to the top of your head or just actual kisses. At night he'd hold you close as you sleep.

Not really one to relax and cuddle unless you have actual, more than a couple hours, of down time. Then he'd let himself relax but most of the time he's busying himself with work. At least he doesn't overwhelm you?

Scanlan

Please, Scanlan is the king of affection. You won't be touch starved for long.

Hugs, hand holding, kisses, he'll give you any and all types of loving that can be thought of.

Of course he also knows not to overdo it since it's new to you. So when he's giving you a break from his love, he's giving you dumb pick up lines or compliments to make you smile.

He's a pain in the ass to the point he'll tease you about hanging onto him. Of course you can't resist his love, not many can.

Vax

He got lucky with the people he's met otherwise he'd probably be a lot worse with being touch starved and distant from everyone.

Vax knows it takes time but he's happy to hold you close or just hold hands with you. Help you get used to affection

Does his best not to overwhelm you but he can't help teasing you a bit.

Blowing into your ear is probably his favorite to do. Or tracing you palm with his hand. He enjoys leaving light touches.

He's too busy falling in love even more after he sees you turning. Grog thought you were badass before.

Tells you he's pissed you hid this from him because he thinks it's so cool. Absolutely asks you to bite or claw or whatever to see if he can become a werewolf too.

Grog isn't the best with words so he might call you dumb for thinking he'd hate you for something like this. He's helped shred an old lady before just for being on the wrong side. You being a werewolf is nothing.

He just asks you so many questions about being a werewolf because your just so much cooler than him now (not that he'd admit that).

Scanlan

Uhhh yeah some forewarning would've been nice S/O. Watching you transform did little for his appetite.

Don't get me wrong, he's not scared of you or hates you or anything. Well, he's kind of upset that you'd hide something like that. He's been honest and open with you about stuff.

Scanlan has been with many different species so guess he can cross a werewolf off the list. Not that he'd say that out loud since you could definitely tear him to pieces.

Does worry a tad. You were scared of telling him about your lycanthropy. Do you want to be cured? Cause he has connections with Vox Machina and being The Meat Man. He can start looking right away if you want.

The Briarwoods

They knew you were hiding something from them. With the deception techniques they use, it's easy to pick up on other people's lies.

Sylas can't help but feel amusement at you being a werewolf. Were you afraid because of the stereotypical vampires vs. werewolves nonsense?

Delilah is more interested in studying your lycanthropy. She won't do experiments on your or anything, but she does want to take notes on how your physical aspects changed.

If you want a cure then they'll happily find one for you. But you get many reassurances for your gift.

For bg3, could I request platonic Wyll, Astarion, Gale, and Lae'zel finding a Tav that's quietly breaking down from all the pressure of having to save and comfort people all the time. Like they want to help people, but it's becoming too much for them.

Astarion

As someone that voices his complaints easily once he's become close enough to let you in on his secrets, he also knows when the feelings are being buried away. While he doesn't want to tell you what to do, he does pull you aside when you're back at camp to exchange supplies.

Saving people and being a hero has never been something for him, mostly because he never had someone to save him. Until you came around, that is. And he thanks you for that, but you need to stop putting so much on your shoulders. You want to save people? Well you won't be able to do that if you collapse.

You've been a good friend to him, so let him do the same to you. Take a fucking break. Break into that newspaper building and change the article to something ridiculous. Do something for yourself. Astarion is more than happy to introduce you to some of his more fun morally grey activities just to get everything off of your mind. He has dealt with the aftermath of being burnt out and wasting away because bottling your emotions becomes too much, he won't see the same happening to you.

Gale

Notices you looking tired and suggests a break. He'll always be happy to lend and ear and offer some words of wisdom. Mostly, let yourself rest. You're already doing a lot and you should find a nice book and lay down in your tent for a bit to destress.

While Gale is trying to have his morals in the right place, he also knows not everyone can or deserves to be saved. It's valiant of you to try and offer help to anyone you can, but he can see the toll it's taking on you mentally, emotionally, and physically. Honestly, Faerun is a big place, let some other adventurers lend their help, you deserve some wine.

It's a shame that Magnificent Mansion or Tiny Hut aren't spells you can get in game, but Gale would happily cast Magnificent Mansion for you to just have an impromptu spa day. It's what you deserve for being his greatest friend and for all that you do for others.

Lae'zel

She knows being a leader is hard and there are many challenges you must step up to. People will constantly seek your help and look to you for advice. She has seen it by many of her githyanki superiors and thought nothing of it. And then she finds you cracking.

Tells you that as a leader, you can't show your cracks or you'll be seen as vulnerable to enemy attacks. While at camp, rest as much as you need. She'll keep watch while you let out whatever emotions that you need to.

Will also remind you, that you're her leader. You don't lead all the people you come across on the road, you owe them nothing. Technically, you owe Lae'zel nothing as well, you have the freedom to choose what to do, morals be damned.

Wyll

He notices the cracks and he fully understands. Hell, he sold his soul to a devil because he was failing. You're allowed to break down. You're allowed to rest.

While Wyll, likes the idea of helping anyone in need, even he knows that it can be too much. A lot has happened to all of you in a very short span of time, he understands needing to rest.

He considers you a good friend and ally and if you'd allow him, he'd be glad to take the lead and let you rest. He can at least listen to those you come across and offer them comfort if you're too drained to do so.

Can I request headcanons for Baldur's Gate 3 Gale, Wyll, Halsin, and Astarion reacting to his oblivious crush confessing to him despite them being unaware it's mutual please?

Character(s): Astarion, Gale, Halsin, Wyll

Astarion

He just stares at you before sighing very overdramatically because he has been flirting with you for weeks! Nothing about him is subtle! Astarion just thought you were pretending to be blind to his feelings - feelings that he actually has and still doesn't know what to do with, mind you.

On one hand, he's happy that you confessed to him. But on the other, he's a big baby and pouting and giving you shit for not realizing his flirting. Eventually, he just sighs and pulls himself together (on the outside, he's still reeling on the inside).

Except now he has no idea what to do because having a crush is something that he hasn't had in a long time. Astarion is still going to be smug and tease you about not realizing his blatant flirting, but now he can let things progress naturally and experience what an actually good relationship is supposed to be.

Gale

Gale is pleasantly surprised when you confess to him. He admits that he's not the best at courting, but assumed you rejected him since you never responded to his advances before. That starts a whole thing with you being surprised that he has been flirting.

He tells you it's "water under the bridge" and he's more than happy to properly court you now that you know his feelings and he knows yours.

Gale does make it a point to be more blunt about his feelings once you're dating. Just so you aren't ever guessing how he feels about you because you still don't always pick up on flirting.

Halsin

He apologizes to you when he starts chuckling, quick to say he's not laughing at you, just the situation. Halsin decides against mentioning all the flirting he has been doing in the past so you don't feel guilty or anything. Instead, he admits that he's very attracted to you as well.

Halsin's flirting doesn't stop, however. Instead, it's much more blunt, but still being polite so you're not overwhelmed or embarrassed (especially when he flirts in public).

Should your relationship ever move past simply dating and flirting, then he'll finally admit that he's pined after you for a good while and was content just being in your presence until you confessed. Halsin is very amused with your reaction to that information.

Wyll

Wyll breathes a sigh of relief when you confess to him. His heart is pounding and his face feels much hotter than usual, but he is so relieved that you feel the same as he does.

He admits that he's felt foolish pining over you and believing you felt only friendship in return. A chuckle escapes him at your confusion and he reassures you that he's not offended that you didn't realize. Wyll is just happy to know that he has your heart now. And you have his.

Wyll wouldn't tease you about the relationship, but Shadowheart or Astarion are more than happy to bring up the hopeless puppy look on his face with chasing after you. Wyll tells you to not worry about it, not wanting you to potentially feel guilty, but he won't deny their words if you ask.

Can I ask for a Halsin, Wyll and Gale x gn reader who snaps easily when overwhelmed, it could be just acting more aggressively or vocally snapping to get out of a situation and to solitude quickly and then feeling bad about it and theb after a while being comforted about it because they can't really control it?

(It's an autism thing I have and feel bad about but you don't have to frame it as an autistic thing since everyone can become overwhelmed and get upset about feeling certain ways.)

Gale

Gale tries to keep a straight face as you snap at him, but it’s difficult he lets you walk off to be alone because he also needs time alone after that.

He understands being overwhelmed, but taking it out on your significant other? That hurt. He also knows you can’t control it, but that doesn’t mean he has to be okay with it.

Gale just sighs as he goes to look for you afterwards and has a smile on his face as he tries to act like nothing happened. His last partner put a bomb in his chest so he can deal with your snapping. It’s just something that you both need to work on.

Halsin

He can see you growing overwhelmed as you talk and he knows you’re not thinking as words fall from your mouth. Halsin patiently waits as you speak, not wanting to cut in or touch you in fear of panicking you more.

When you are silent after saying a bit of harsh things, he sees the guilt in your eyes and he gently reaches out. “May I?” He’d ask before pulling you into his arms.

Halsin will stay quiet as he holds you, just giving you that comfort as you process and realize what happened.

Wyll

He has a bit of mixed emotions about this. Wyll already tries not to be the one that overwhelms you, but something else does and you take it out on him. He crosses his arms over his chest and waits as you get it out before he sighs and puts a smile on.

“Feel better?” He jokes and shakes his head if you start to apologize. Wyll doesn’t really want to hear your apologies because this is just going to end up happening again.

He’s not mad at you, he knows you have a hard time controlling when you snap or have outbursts, but that doesn’t mean he is readily going to act like nothing happened. Wyll will give you a quick kiss, but then take some time to himself to cool down from you snapping at him.

Gale

You had warned him before hand about your crazy habits during your sleep, but Gale brushed it off and assumed it was nothing. Oh how wrong he was.

Gale stayed awake reading in his tent, you sleeping by his side and already he had been subjected to your antics.

First you started mumbling in your sleep, and when he leaned over and asked you to repeat what you said, you got mad and sleepily shouted “Nevermind!” Before rolling away from him. Gale wasn’t sure how to feel, so he just laid down and spooned you.

Gale typically sleeps on his back and doesn’t really move. He also sleeps kinda heavy, but also not? It depends on the day. The first few nights you spent together, he had woken up from your flailing limbs whacking him. But he doesn’t eventually does get used to it, and never wakes up.

The only thing that surprises him now is how the hell did you managed to switch sides of the bed with him??

Astarion

He has given you attitude the day before hand, so you decided not to warn your beloved vampire about your sleeping antics. He’s an elf it’s not like he needs that much sleep anyways.

Astarion was right in the verge of sleep when he felt your leg sling over his hips, and he immediately assumed you were thing to kick him as revenge for earlier… he kicks back. It’s not hard, but you can feel the attitude.

He finds ways to cope with your chaotic sleeping which usually involves a wall of pillows, or he simply pushes you away. He doesn’t want a black eye from a flying hand of yours.

Astarion also threatens to kick you out of bed, or make you sleep somewhere else. But he won’t do it, he needs you.

He writes down anything you say in your sleep to embarrass you later, getting back at you for not warning him about how crazy you are in your sleep. He will also hold conversations with you, no matter how ridiculous.

“Hey, Stari…”

“Yes, my dear?”

“I think I talk in my sleep…”

“I think so too.”

“Okay…As long as nobody finds out my plan for world domination.”

“Yes that- wait, WHAT?”

Wyll

You fully intended to warn him about your insane nightly habits, but the exhaustion of that days battle was too much for you. So you laid down beside your lover and was out like a light.

Wyll immediately rolled over to snuggle you and drifted off to sleep soon after you… but that sleep didn’t last long as he was swoon woken up by you being yanked for him arms. He thought the worst and sat up, thinking somebody was taking you or something bad was happening in camp.

…Only to find you mumbling and walking out of the tent, which didn’t help his anxiety. He fumbled with a lantern and stubbled after you, calling your name and asking what’s wrong. Then he realized you were sleep walking and mumbling something to somebody who wasn’t there.

He eventually does get you back to the tent and he just holds onto you tighter for the rest of the night. Wyll is wakes and follows you every time you sleep walk off, so worried you are going to get hurt.

Wyll started losing sleep so he just had Scratch look after you, while he slept so he wouldn’t be sleep deprived. Then wakes up to you and Scratch piled on him. Making him laugh fondly. This is his life now and he loves it.

Halsin

You told Halsin about it and he laughed and mentioned how he sleeps like a bear, and that he wouldn’t notice… and he didn’t. He was practically knocked out beside you, the only proof of life is his loud ass snoring.

You could flip flop in bed and he wouldn’t noticed. Throw arms and legs and him, and he doesn’t feel it. Sleep talking? No idea. Sleep walking? Some nocturnal animal nearby will tell Halsin about it in the early morning.

The only way it could possibly wake him up is if you 1. Had a nightmare and screamed very loudly. Or 2. Kicked him in the nutts with your restless legs, either way he comfort you and hold you in a very tight bear hug.

Astarion was a sneaky elf, or he would like to think so. He wasn’t surprised you still didn’t know he was a vampire so he still acted human. Whether that was forcing himself to eat human food or sneak away at nights to properly feed himself. Astarion liked to preen himself a lot, even if he couldn’t see himself. He liked to “look” at himself in the mirror especially. Another thing Astarion liked to do was spend time with you. Although, he does get a little too needy sometimes. When that happens, he usually isn’t afraid of making up some ridiculous matter you have to help him with, especially if it comes to his looks. So, sometimes you find yourself holding a mirror so Astarion could fix himself up or even helping him pick out his outfit for the day. It always ends up with you two softly talking to each other and just spending even more time together. The sneaky elf.

GALE:

Gale is a smart wizard, a genius if you were to really look at him. One thing he always seemed to struggle with is to ask for a little bit of time with you. Even if he knows you have nothing to do and you’re just sitting around he will over think for 2 hours before going up to you. He’ll worm his way into spending time with you by making up an excuse of you helping him understanding or reading a book. Even if it was the most simplest of books, he’ll still ask for “help”. Yes, you’ve seen him read this multiple times the past month, but he still wants you to read it. It always ends up with you two sitting in his tent and just talking. Either about the book or just anything you two can think of.

WYLL:

Wyll hides the fact he wants to spend time with you less then the others. He even goes straight up to you and asks if you would like to spend time with each other one on one. Of course, things pile up and someone needs to do them. Sharpening the swords, cleaning the shields, or just polishing up something in the camp. Instead of facing all those tasks alone, he always finds a way to incorporate you into it. It ends up with you two spending more time together while also working on a few chores. It was sneaky but also loving. Usually, at the end of the chore-filled day, you two sit in his tent or at the fire and share a little wine. More time spent together.

HALSIN:

Halsin loved spending time with you. Whether it was sitting around the fire or even in battle. So, when it came to you not spending time with him for too long (or what he thinks is too long) he makes some random story up about how you need to come foraging or hunting with him. Even if you point out you guys have already enough food for a couple of weeks, he still insists on going out and foraging. No, Astarion nor Karlach can come along, only you. Usually it ends up with you being carried around by him either in human or bear form. Or you two just find a nice patch of field and just lay down in the sun. It’s times like these he always finds peace with you.

Keyleth loves your plant magic because when she speaks with your vines, flowers, grass, or trees they all sound and act like you.

Can I request headcanons for Grog, Scanlan, Percy, and Vax with gn s/o who is a hopeless romantic please?

Grog doesn’t really get it. A lot of the gestures go straight over his head, and he doesn’t see what all the effort is about. Not that he doesn’t appreciate the effort. Grog just thinks that the best way to tell someone how you feel is to, you know, tell them how you feel. Also bring them sandwiches. Way to a man’s (or whoever’s) heart is through their stomach. Can’t have a full heart with an empty belly.

Scanlan likes to pretend he’s a hopeless romantic, but in reality it’s all bravado. When faced with a true romantic Scanlan doesn’t know what to do. None of his usually tricks gestures work on them. And when they do something it just makes his heart flutter so loud he’s genuinely concerned that it might come right out of his chest. He feels a little inadequate by comparison. Good thing he knows how to use his **** really good.

Percy adores it. Percy wishes he could be hopelessly earnest…about anything anymore. Seeing you be such a hopeless romantic, with someone as unworthy as him, makes him cherish you all the more. He wants to protect that no matter what. Be that honoring your feelings to the best of his abilities, or protecting you from those who would dampen your spirit.

Vax pretends not to like it, saying that it’s all just a bunch of sappy nonsense, but truly he loves it. Being in the shadows, both literally and mentally, he hasn’t gotten a lot of attention. Or at least positive attention. Having someone what to shower him with affection, gifts, whatever, is something he desperately craves. Vax tries to act cool but the minute it looks like their affection might turn, he clings to them. Sometimes literally.

It was a mistake. You’ve made some throughout your life, sure, but nothing with as much guilt and terror as this one. Vox Machina had been hired to rescue some missing kids, and none of you could say no. It ended up a much worse battle than any of you had expected, and one of your attacks went astray and hit Keyleth in the middle of her chest, the druid staring at you in pain for a moment before collapsing.

Per usual, things had ended up… fine. Pike had easily revived Keyleth and she knew it had been a mistake and she held nothing against you. The children were returned to their families and VM made themselves at home at an inn in town. You had asked Vex for your own room, and since the family of one of the kids was letting you stay for free, she granted it. You were invited to go drinking, of course, but after that day, that mission, you just couldn’t bring yourself to look any of VM in their eyes.

Scanlan

He had preformed a few songs at the tavern, of course about the wonders that VM had pulled  during their travels. Surprisingly, he had stayed away from too many sex jokes since some kids managed to sneak in, but he entertained them by sitting and telling them stories about some of the inter-party idiocy that happened on a regular basis (like his ongoing game with Vax and Grog of ball tag).

And he got to a great part, a part that he’d absolutely call you over to elaborate on. But you weren’t around.

He dismissed himself soon enough, returning to the inn with two flagons of ale and coming up to your room. He didn’t knock, simply leaned against the door and greeted you with a “🎵 Hey there, darling~🎵 ”I’m not going away until you let me innnnn~🎵”

You knew him well enough to know it was useless to try and get him to leave, so you opened the door and let him in.

He handed you one of the ales, sitting crosslegged on the bed and greeting, “you never pass up a chance to hang out with us weirdos, you doin’ alright?”

He let you explain as little or as much as you wanted, sipping at his ale as he listened.

After a minute of thinking, he took his lute and strum a few chords. “Would you rather I try to cheer you up? Keep you company? Or just leave you to drink ale in peace?”

Keeping you company sounded the best

He had taken that as an invitation to lay down and make himself comfortable in your bed, waiting with a raised eyebrow. “Coming to bed?” He wiggled his eyebrows with a smirk.

You sat besides him, not quite ready to lay down yet.

He sat up, arms roping around your waist and chin on your shoulder. “You can’t feel bad, y/n. It was a mistake. Everybody makes mistakes – god knows I’ve made plenty. Heck, last week, I hit Vax so hard in the nuts he was bed bound for a day!”

You absolutely remembered that, laughing as you leaned against him.

“Come on,” he tugged on you, “you’ll feel better after some well deserved rest, hm?”

You still, admittedly, weren’t sure.

“Come onnnnnn… y/n, I’m way too hot to be sleeping alone. Come on. Come on. Come-”

You finally relented and let him tug you to lay down.

He spent the next few minutes coaxing you to sleep with soft humming and melodic mumblings.

Needless to say, one of the best rests you had in a while.

Percival von keysmash

Percy took any chance to turn down drinking – he would much rather enjoy a nice wine and looking out over town lights from a balcony than the yelling and fighting and drinking.

Pike had double checked if he wanted to come and made an offhanded comment that you were the only other one staying home from drinking.

Percy found that odd. Sure, maybe you didn’t enjoy drinking as much as, say, Grog, but you still weren’t one to turn down shenanigans with the gang.

He was rather attuned to guilt. He had misfired enough to have hurt himself or his friends some times, and he was used to the feelings afterwards.

So, he knew how to try and take care of those feelings. He went into town and bought some gourmet tea and sugary foods, then came back.

He knocked a few times on your door, assuming you didn’t know it was him and greeting you with “it’s just Percy; I brought you some pastries and tea.”

You let him in and he offered you the snacks and tea, although the drinks were closer to room temperature now.

It was unlike him to try and ignore the issues at hand, so he got right to it.

“Y/n, it is not your fault… I understand that you feel bad about it, but everybody makes mistakes.”

He sat on the edge of your bed, sipping on his own drink.

“You shouldn’t feel guilty about it. Keyleth is alright. The children are as well.”

He set the tea down and unlaced his boots, sitting closer to you and reaching out to grab your hand. “You cannot define yourself by your mistakes. That is something that I’ve learned; if our friends did so, they wouldn’t be themselves. We are not the errors we made. We are everything else.”

You invited him to lay down, and after taking off his copious amount of layers, he did.

He’d mumble some sweet words to you and rub your back until you had fallen asleep, at which point he’d also close his eyes and pass out.

Vax’ildan

Vax absolutely went drinking. He challenged Grog to a drinking contest and got dragged back to the inn by Pike and Vex after he almost passed out.

This specific job had really fucked him up. Those kids had thought their parents left them willingly, abandoned them, and Vax was a bit too familiar with that feeling.

His mother hadn’t, but his father hated him, and he hated his father back. Then seeing those kids have joyful reunions with both parents. Both. That cared about them. That loved them.

Vex had gotten him in bed before going to make sure all of VM made it home safe, and he absolutely took the time to get up.

He’s not as drunk as Vex thought, just a little bit tipsy. He’s absolutely sober enough to come to your room and knock, slurring “hey there, dove…”

Despite your state, you had to admit; it was fun to see him tipsy. The usually suave and borderline silent rouge stumbled in, smiling over at you brightly.

“I’m jus’ a bit worried ‘bout you.” He took the first opportunity he had to lean against you and hold your hands. “Fight was… bad.”

It was easy to get him to sit down as he fret over you, even more snuggly and affectionate in his slightly drunk state.

His arms were around your waist and his face in your neck, rocking back and forth.

“It… isn’t your fault, love. Truly, it isn’t. Everybody makes mistakes; it’s a part of being alive.”

He pulled Simon off and let him coil up his arm.

“I talk to Simon if I’m upset and don’t want to tell Vex. Do you want to?”

If you did, he’d leave the room until you were done venting to the snake. If not, he’d drape his cloak around you and lay down, Simon still around his arm.

He would tug at your arms and waist until you laid down with him. He was used to snuggles from most of VM, but there was something much different about this one.

Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe the smell of your clothes.

Didn’t matter. He buried his face in your neck and was out cold in no time.

Pike invited you in the light.

Sat right beside you, she was glowing. She was in her element while the light of the sun exhausted you. But it was fine as long as she was with you. You both might be from different worlds, your hearts belonged to the same place.

Turning her face in your direction, her sky blue eyes landed on yours and widened slightly.

"Oh shit !" she cursed. "Are you alright ?"

You blinked and looked at her with a neutral face but dazed eyes.

"You're blinding me," you said simply with a flat tone.

"Oh fuck— I'm so sorry !"

You were fine. She was the only light you accepted to be blinded and warmth with.
