At this point I genuinely believe that the narrative of homo/transphobic communism is every bit as damaging to trans women as the whole "you can just be a green flag feminine guy!" bullshit. In addition to being demonstrably false, in that most socialist states have had policies on queerness that are either a) equivalent to those in capitalist countries at the time but with considerably more social security and mobility or b) far better than anything possible under capitalism and an example for the world to follow, it also obscures the fact that economic oppression is one of the most significant threats to transfem mental health and physical security.

Every single horrific alienation and deprivation that capitalism produces will hit ten times harder if you're a trans woman, and compound further in cruelty with your race, nationality, disability and so forth. During the golden ages of rapacious and opulent capital, trans women in the imperial core were marginalized to deadly street work and secret lives of shame and sneering big screen parodies, while trans women in the imperial peripheries were heinous criminals in the law books and an eminently rapeable and murderable class of exoticized tourist sex objects in practice.

Do you think that as capitalism enters into crisis and fascism rises across the world, we'll be treated any better now? Do you think that the people who express their conception of you as a neo-Marxist demon invader government hijacker on primetime television to audiences of millions will simply tip their hats and apologize when you say, "Hey, I'm not like those tankies!" Do you think the liberals who contemptuously inform you that trans rights are a negotiable and acceptable loss if it means voting in a mildly more respectable liberal party in for the next election shall remember and reward you once they've won? Trans women are always the most expendable parts of the proletariat- the first to be targeted, the first to be strategically discarded, and the last to be symbolically included by reluctant liberals on the brink of a reactionary wave that'll sweep us right back into the gutter.

Trans women cannot survive in a society oriented around the endless pursuit of profit and the destruction of all groups deemed unproductive or disposable the moment the line goes down. Before hormones, before community, before the basic peace of mind required to reflect on identity, they need stable jobs and places to stay and a government that isn't sinking under so much greed that it needs to toss poor minorities off the edge to stay afloat. For us, the contradictions are always perilously high, and the chasm of severance is always dangerously close. We will never be valuable enough, indispensable enough, or vital enough to the capitalist economy to avoid being axed. And trying to pass and lie and contort ourselves into the shapes required to be a good cog in this hopeless system is an ordeal every bit as suffocating as living in a gender and a body you despise.

Communism is the only way forward- for all the world, but especially for trans women. It is the only thing that'll give you the words to describe the pain you feel, the opportunities you've lost, the lies you've been told, and the world you wish to see. It's the only ideology that'll let you locate a community that truly values you and a cause you can wholeheartedly fight for. It is the only way to carve out of this suffocating world a place where you can belong. It is the only science that lets you obtain a history and a future.

For centuries, trans girls have been dead women walking- the corpses of the men we were expected to be, the corpses of the jobs we were expected to do, the corpses that we shall swiftly be turned into if we demand a life that's just a bit too bright and beautiful. Communism is the only way you can be born. It is the only way you can become yourself. The other side is distant, and the journey is terrifying, and every step takes you further from the person you were expected to be. But it is better to walk toward a new world, hand in hand with those who pull against their chains, than to sit and wait in a darkness without direction for the moment when the axe descends on you.

You're already a tranny. Might as well be a tankie. There has only ever been one way out.
