Book Review: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
Book Review: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
Liane Mariarty’s Big Little Lies is a masterful work of fiction about the residents of an Austrailian beach community. Nothing is quite what it seems to be and everyone has a secret. As the book opens, someone has died. Who, how and why will be revealed in a shocking sequence very late in the novel.
The main characters Madeline, Celeste, and Jane meet by happenstance and the events that drive…

Book Review: The Cold Moon by Jeffery Deaver
Book Review: The Cold Moon by Jeffery Deaver

The Cold Moon by Jeffery Deaver My rating: 3 of 5 stars
The The Cold Moon, seventh in the Lincoln Rhyme series is a good solid mystery/procedural. I love the Rhyme character and the criminal forensic focus of the series. This book was a good entry in the series but not my favorite. The story is split between two cases a police corruption case Rhyme’s partner (in more than one sense of the word)…

Westworld Then and Now
Westworld Then and Now
There are striking style differences between the 1973 era movie and the 21st century HBO production. The sexuality and violence in the movie is quite tame for today’s pay TV standards. But aside from that, there is a fundamental difference in the concept. You still have the adult playground of no consequences you still have the underlying fear of technology. But in the 70’s we were still worried…

The Season of Conflicting Emotions The opening of football season is always a time of mixed emotions for me. Intermingled are hope for a good year, fear of disappointment, and expectations of the entertainment that I get out of the game.

NFL will look into Falcons’ questioning of Eli Apple
Would "Unless you are asking me out I don't see how that is any of your business?" be the correct answer to this question?
I don't really buy that asking someone shocking questions to gauge their reactions is actually all that helpful in a job interview, but even if I did I think the line has to be drawn and highly personal questions about what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms.

Why did the Redskins tag Kirk Cousins?
I just don't believe Cousins is worth $20 million. I agree that it is extremely unlikely that anyone would give up 2 draft picks to take him away from the Redskins. Even if he performs at the level he did last year he doesn't seem to me to be worth that kind of money per seasons.

Me dealing with Friends+Me, Vystar, and Android Pay today. Technology is supposed to make things easier not just increase frustration with limitations that make your app pointless, unhelpful error messages and security for my protection that mostly only accomplishes inconveniencing me without actually providing any useful security.

Nostalgia Overload: Superbowl I The Lost Game
Nostalgia Overload: Superbowl I The Lost Game
Superbowl I was played in January 1967, just a few weeks from my second birthday. For some reason I don’t remember ever having a conversation with my dad about this game though he must have watched it live at the time. He was a rabid sports fan and watched just about any sport he could find on TV. A running joke, with serious undertones, between my mother and father was the tension created by the…

Book Review: The Martian by Andy Weir
Book Review: The Martian by Andy Weir
Andy Weir’s book, The Martian, is the perfect book for me. It is a topic I am passionate about, written in a style that I find appealing, and contains loads of geeky science that I find fascinating. Therefore it should be no surprise that I almost didn’t read it. I have seen the novel on several e-book sites for weeks as I tried to decide what my next book would be. I kept shying away from this…
