it is so funny to me how i started learning english on my own age 10 because the manga i was reading was turning so so so bad i went to fan content to cope with how shit it was. and 15 years later this pays off as my boss tells me i'm an essential asset in the team as the only fluent english-speaker.
#shoutout to 12yo me for me so obsessed with sherlock that i turned to the original english version out of desperation#after watching the dub like 5 times did not even nearly satisfy my hunger for the show#which then led me down such a rabbit hole that just a few months later my substitute english teacher asked me if i had family in london#because i had imprinted onto the generic bbc actor english to such a massive degree#(i have since somehow managed to unlearn that and now sound distinctively from-where-im-from again but. lmao)#<- tags from main bc 💞

“sherlock is a sociopathic genius” “sherlock is above a relationship” “sherlock is about logic not emotion” Ok well he literally leaves the wedding early .

bbc sherlock has the best retcon of all time for making holmes in the tab standalone final scene say Watson you may be my husband right now but in my cocaine musings of a century into the future we would be having the craziest decade long situationship without even kissing❤️

i do adore the plot point of "it's of crucial importance that someone says "i love you" to sherlock and in order for that to happen he has to say it first." absolutely iconic. unbelievably subtle. so desperately unspoken etc etc.

“The fascination with homosexuality—vulgarly expressed as prurient interest in bedroom behaviour—was the mark of an unconscious or grudging perception that gay men and women had special knowledge, that they formed a kind of existential avant-garde and were somehow more at home in the modern world than the protected majority.”
Strangers: Homosexual Love in the Nineteenth Century Graham Robb
