The Periodic Table As Underground Map
The periodic table is really a wonderful thing. So simple, yet so dense with information. At the moment it was thought up by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869, even though a majority of the elements that we know of today hadn’t been discovered, their place was already set at (or rather on) the table. The arrangement of periods and groups immediately relates like with like, and illustrates atomic differences in a simple table.
But it doesn’t illustrate all the relationships, which is why many alternative periodic tables have been proposed. Mark Lorch’s periodic table Underground map is the latest artistic entry into that category.
New relationships come to light: Life depends mostly on the downtown turquoise line, and there’s a new connector train between the metals mercury and gallium, thanks to their liquid properties at certain temperatures.
Read more about the table from the creator himself at The Guardian.

Daniel Chong faced no charges but was seemingly forgotten and endured four days locked up in isolation without food or water
Oh hey. Remember this guy? Well, he managed to get an actual payout from attending college. It just cost his sanity and 15 lbs!
Noted.

Continuing on my previous post, I would just like to say you don't know true horror until you spot this grotesque insect in your rearview mirror and turn around just to make sure your not being haunted by the spirit of your previously totalled car.
And lucky for me, it was evening and the headlights were on. Go ahead. Find the headlights. I'll wait. Nope, those are the highbeams. And check out the windows. They seem to shrink the further back in the car you are. I suppose it's because it's technically a "mini SUV", whatever the fuck that means. I just- I'm so angry when I look at this.
And people are buying this! Why? I ask you, good people of tumblr, why?!

Can we talk about the surge of these cars I've noticed lately? I couldn't find a directly head-on view or one from the back so you can truly appreciate the ugliness of this car if you've never seen it. Who has jedi-mindtricked all these people into spending money on this? I suspect it is the same people who managed to market PT Cruisers and Cubes.
I understand you want to make a "car of the future", yet one that rebels against current conventions of aerodynamics. But stop. Make pretty cars for me to envy on the road. Not cars that make me gag!
Thank you. That is all.

Video of Violent, Rioting Surfers Shows White Culture of Lawlessness
… it was a reminder that we must begin to seriously consider the values of our thuggish white youth.
… More important than white politicians are the white parents. I’d like to ask the caregivers of the children in these videos what they’ve been doing. When did so many white parents fall asleep at the wheel? You can complain about poor schools all you’d like, but the fact of the matter is that it’s the parents of these children who are letting them leave the house looking like slobs in their baggy board shorts and Hollister t-shirts. It’s the parents of these kids who are letting them listen to violent, self-destructive trash like “Anarchy in the UK" or “Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue"—performed loudly by noted conservative rocker Johnny Ramone.

Surprisingly, I've never used a urinal. But I feel like this is not only practical, but convenient, no? That's the kind of design I can get behind.
Now someone need to get on seat-less toilets for women. I don't know how, but we have got to solve the hovering epidemic.
Edit: I just realized seat-less toilets would just be holes in the ground. So.. yeahh.

The ‘sink-urinal’ saves water, encourages men to wash hands
A Latvian designer named Kaspars Jursons is trying to help solve European water shortages by redesigning the men’s restroom. His new urinal design includes a tap and sink right over it.
"It’s not just a fancy piece of art," he says. “The idea is about function and consumption. You are washing your hands in the sink on top of the urinal, and the same water that’s running is also used to flush. You don’t have to use water twice, like when you use the urinal and wash your hands in separate sink."

Quote
The darkest lie we tell ourselves: that we and our writing are not worth a bag of microwaved diapers. Listen, I don’t know how talented or skilled or capable you are. Hell, maybe you’re not that great. But nobody got better by feeling bad about it. You have one of two choices: you can be destructive to yourself or constructive. You can tear yourself down or find a way to build yourself up — and I don’t mean build yourself up with compliments but build yourself up with skills and abilities and the practice that gets you there. You suck? That thought sucks. Get better. Improve. Aim big. Give yourself the chance to fail — and then give yourself a chance to build steps from the corpses of your failure so you may climb higher every time. You don’t become a writer by feeling sad about your self-worth. The only sucking you need to do is to suck it up and do the work. Everything else is a consumptive distraction.

Newbie: So why did you choose to work here?
Me: Choose?
Newbie: Yea, why'd you decide to work at this particular restaurant?
Me: Decide?
Newbie:
Me: They were hiring.
