author’s note; this is the first fic I’ve ever written and I wrote it at like 12:20 am or smth and I didn’t even edit it so bare with me,, feedback / constructive criticism is appreciated

As K sat in bed with you, watching you trying – and struggling – to have a conversation with your cat, he thought. He thought about you. Your hair that he loved to run his hands through. Your glittering eyes that seemed to sparkle more whenever you looked at him. Your lips that he loved to kiss. Your smile. Your laugh. The way your eyes scrunch up when you smile. The way your brows furrow in concentration when you focus on something. Everything about you. He was in love with every single detail about you. He wanted to spend every moment with you. He wanted to spend his whole life with you.

He wanted to marry you.

As soon as K realized he wanted to marry you, he didn’t want to waste any time. He decided to propose as soon as you got home the next day. It would’ve been hard to find a ring on such short notice so he opted for the next best thing. He decided to make you a ring. Unlike a proper ring, paper was something he did have access to on such short notice. As he hastily scrolled through the internet, trying to find a tutorial on how to make a paper ring, he wondered. Would you even say yes? What if you didn’t like the ring? What if…

This was it. You were going to get home in a few minutes. He looked in his hand at the only slightly lopsided paper ring he had made for you. For you. For the love of his life. For the person he was about to propose to. Oh Shit. He was about to propose to you.

As he looked up in the mirror to straighten his hair, the worries came back. He quickly brushed off the looming insecurities and went to wait for you to return.

It was time. It was happening. He heard the jingle of your keys in the lock. The lock of your home. The home you both share. The home you both live in together. Together.

As the door opened he felt a rush of adrenaline. You, unaware of what was about to happen, languidly trudged inside, tired from the day. Tired and wanting nothing more than to simply be in the embrace of the one you love.

As you took off your shoes and walked inside, you were a bit startled to see your boyfriend standing right there, seemingly waiting for you.

“Were you waiting for me?” you questioned. You started to get a bit suspicious as he remained fidgeting and unresponsive, avoiding eye contact. “Are you okay?”

“Y/n…” he started, finally making eye contact with you.

“I know this is sudden and I don’t even have a proper ring but I know I want to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you”, he started to ramble “I’m sorry I don’t have a proper ring, I know you deserve better than this but I just wanted to do it as soon as possible” he knelt down, holding up his flimsy paper ring.

“Y/n, will you marry me?”

You stood there in shock, barely comprehending what had just been said. As you stood there, stunned, tears began to well up in your eyes.

“Y/n?..” he trailed, slowly standing up.

As you finally processed his words, you nodded furiously, rushing into his arms.

“Is that a yes?”

“Yes”, you said, words muffled by his chest “I don’t even know why I’m crying, I thought it was stupid when I saw girls crying when they got proposed to but now it’s happening to me.

He chuckled into your hair, pulling you further into him. But he quickly separated from you, remembering one thing.

“Aren’t we forgetting something?”, he said, holding up your hand to slide the ring onto your finger. “That’s better.” “I’m still sorry that I couldn't propose to you with a proper ring though..”

You quickly cut him off, “I love this ring. I love this ring because it’s from you. I like shiny things but I’d marry you with paper rings. I don’t care what type of ring you propose with or even if you had a ring or not. I’d marry you either way. My only problem with this is that I can’t wear it all the time though…”

“Well then, I guess we’ll have to get you another ring then.”
