I’ll preface this by saying I’m not really a shipper. I just enjoy canon couples on TV Series/films.
Terms I’d like B*ddies to remove from their vocabulary because they don’t know how to use them correctly:
Media literacy: For a group that uses this term a lot you sure do misinterpret everything in this show.
Queerbaiting: Going to expand on this one. A show that’s already been pre established for having queer characters simply cannot queerbait.
Ship baiting: While sometimes you can argue that they could be doing that, that’s only if you look at the show in a very biased manner. You might think this is the case but the general audience doesn’t think the way you do.
Ship war: This isn’t a one tree hill situation where there was Team Brooke Vs. Team Peyton where the middle guy (Lucas Scott) had canonically been with both women. This is people not understanding fanon vs. canon and not being able to just watch the show. It’s like playing quarterback on Madden and thinking you could be better than Patrick Mahomes.
Plot device: everything’s a plot device. Move tf on.
Predator: You sound like crazy MAGA supporters calling everything regarding the LGBTQIA+ community as predatory. Sit down.
Co-parenting: I know this is a big one and discourse was brought up during the hiatus. Oliver and Ryan have loosely mentioned this years ago but it was never to be taken this seriously. Do y’all even know what co-parenting is or are you that big of a donut? Buck is someone who loves his best friend deeply and by extension, his kid too. Him taking care of him frequently does not make him a co-parent. Maybe he is a parental or uncle figure, but he isn’t a co-parent. Also, I swear y’all need to learn how a will works. He is a GODPARENT, not a GUARDIAN. Stfu.
Hag: This especially applies to women, but to say that someone 25-30+ is a hag for still being in fandoms or enjoying tv shows/films is inherently misogynistic. Men are never held to this much criticism for enjoying fictional media, but women aren’t allowed to?
Queer Coding: people of the same sex “looking at each other”, hugging, or having intimate moments all together doesn’t make them queer coded. It could mean that they just love each other that deeply platonically. While representation is amazing and just because you interpret a character as queer coded (just like my ship baiting comment) doesn’t mean others interpret it that way as well. In addition, network TV has stipulations, and also actors are allowed to decline storylines. Ryan has mentioned his character is heterosexual an abundance of times which means (at least for now) that he isn’t willing to go for this storyline.
Dead naming: Y’all construing the fact that Buck wants people like coworkers and some of his former love interests, to saying Evan is his dead name is inherently transphobic because do you even understand what a dead name is? Evan Buckley is shown as being fine with being called Evan by both Tommy and his sister. I’m pretty sure some of his love interests have called him Evan as well.
Fetishizing: You guys saw two hot guys who “looked at each other” and for 6 seasons have wanted nothing but to see those two make out with each other. Those of us who enjoy Tevan saw Buck giddy at the thought of Tommy and have wanted domestic fluff for them since.
Anything to do with racism, homophobia, and misogyny: I’ve seen the way you guys have conveniently weaponized Henren and by extension Aisha/Tracie when you didn’t get the Ryan/Oliver interview, don’t try to act like you’re morally superior. Not to mention wanting a canonically gay man to die in a show and not even holding those who use your ship name to write CSA fics accountable because you’re petty and want to throw hissy fits. Anyone looking at your comments as an outsider would think you’re homophobes and yes queer people can be homophobic.
I do hope you can expand your vocabulary. 🤍

if you actively engage with the content you claim to hate (i.e, commenting on content you don’t like, running hate accounts dedicated to the thing you hate, not utilizing the block and filter features of the websites you’re on, etc.) you’re a moron and i mean that so sincerely. you’re an idiot. it’s the equivalent of placing your hand directly onto a hot stove and then being surprised when it burns. you’re the reason we have to have those stupid warning labels on everything we buy. ‘cation! hot!’ yeah you’d think we would all know that but Idiot Mcgee over here apparently doesn’t so thanks for the heads up.

What she says: I hate antis
What she really means: I don’t mind people disliking a ship for their own reason but the anti-shipping movement is driven by hate and bandwagon bullying to police what people are “allowed” to enjoy. They use fundamentally abusive and manipulative tactics on real people in the name of protecting survivors from speculative things in fiction. Antis want to act morally superior over ship wars and claim that to ship something problematic you must be a survivor. By doing this antis force survivors who may be uncomfortable with coming out with their status to out themselves and then hold them to impossible standards. Except when it does come to survivors who ship anti-deemed problematic things we are attacked, harassed, and then pushed under the bus anyway. Antis trivialize terms such as abuse, rape, and pedophilia by using them so often and out of place against a group made up of many survivors and minors– the people they claim to be protecting. They have bullied and suicide baited artists and other content creators they dislike in the name of “policing the bad ships uwu.” All antis are at fault for this, even if an anti claims not to send hate themselves they are still influencing this bad behavior because they are part of this hate group. The entire anti-shipper movement is a toxic cesspool that makes me feel sick.

Riddle me this: If Chimney really hated Tommy, why did he ask Tommy for help with Bobby & Athena? Why would he trust a disliked/hated acquaintance with his life, his friends' life and Bobby & Athena's rescue? He could've gone Hen's route and ask Lucy (which didn't happen in canon bc the actress was busy) for help. We could've had a scene of Chimney mentioning that he tried to reach Lucy but she couldn't help so she had sent Tommy instead. Simply to show us that Tommy was not his first choice.
But Chimney knew that Tommy worked in Air Support because he had contacted him in a prior season for a different but similar reason. He knew Tommy would take his request serious. Chimney trusted Tommy.
And as to why Hen didn't ask Tommy: she had forgotten that he was stationed at harbor in the first place. She said so herself. But as soon as he stepped in to stop the Harbor guy from contacting anyone else, Hen followed Tommy's lead. She didn't understand what's going on but she fully understood what he was doing. She, too, trusted Tommy.
They don't hate him. They trust him.

None of the Tommy discourse bothers me as much because I know where it all stems from. I understand how much effort you put into breaking down every Buck and Tommy scene, just to twist it and turn it into something sour and wicked in order to fit whatever narrative that made you the most comfortable or made the blow feel a little less painful. You're outraged. You feel hurt and cheated, so you're making it everyone else's problem. The thing is though… the funniest thing about all of this—the absolute knee slapping, eye watering, belly aching punchline—is that out of all the characters in the history of characters ever created, it was Tommy fucking Kinard who outed you as the lowdown, mentally inept, out-of-touch, queer-phobic, ugly-spirited, weenie hut jr ass corny-ass loser that you are. Six years of nonstop rants about queerbaiting and the need of representation when in reality, we could’ve been spared the queer/bi phobic rhetoric if Tim just payed you all dust from the get go. I pray that this is just one of the long line of bubbles set to be popped during the remainder of the series. I also curse the crops of your land, the calves of your herds, and the lambs of your flocks.

Probably the reason JC and WWX view their parents blatant favouritism so differently is because JC sees him as a true sibling and gets hurt when his father gave more of his love and attention to him but WWX only saw himself as a servants son so he believed that no matter how much love and attention he'll receive he won't be more than JC
This hits especially hard when you realise that WWX is right. His fathers last words to him were, "look after my kids", but on the other hand JC actually loves him like a brother and in spite of his jealousy of WWX still gives up his golden core and life for him
The dichotomy between JC and JFM is so poetic as JFM constantly showered WWX with love and affection, but in his final moments saw him as lesser than his children, and JC spent those exact same years being jealous of his brother but never loved him any less

i'm gonna say something controversial yet brave but i don't think a lot of you guys even like 9-1-1. and i don't mean that in a "hater that loves to hate" kind of way. i mean it in a "you don't care about the other characters, you don't care about the other storylines, you only watch for your favorite character + favorite ship, and even then, you don't care about your favorite character outside of your favorite ship. you don't care about the relationships they have outside of their ship, unless you're shitting on them, or the nuance of the ship itself, and you fail to view the show, the dynamics, or the character as a whole" kind of way. like. truly, i think some of you guys are just... fanon fans. fans of the character and the specific version of the ship that lives inside your heads. and i'm not... hating on that, necessarily, like you do you. but the sooner you realize you don't actually care for 9-1-1, or the characters as they're portrayed in canon, or the relationships as they're portrayed in canon, the sooner you can stop terrorizing people who think differently about the show than you. send post
