A game that's barely functional rn. A 3D Platformer collectathon where you save your doggo friends! This is mainly where I blog about development on Doggo World and maybe other projects? ',:)

we're back!! its been like 5 months since i last touched godot (oh god) so to feel a bit less rusty I made myself a tiny program which just lets me write down to-do lists for short term tasks. This is also the first time i properly exported a project ^_^
As you can see from my list I've been focusing on adding sprinting to my game and other stuff (i forgot) its not very interesting visually unfortunately so you can just have a screenshot of the app i made

I unintentionally turned my code into a bunch of spaghetti wile in the process of making the map previously but I finally got the map to show locked levels and prevent you from entering them :)

I've almost finished creating a functioning world map-type of level selection screen for the game. Apart from visuals I think the only things missing are locked stages and the map marker showing up at the stage marker its supposed to be at when you return to the level selection (it doesn't show because I only have one level available)

In terms of saving data inbetween scenes only, that's basically all done : D

I gave another crack at saving and loading data and with godot's Resources being read only in comparison to unity's ScriptableObjects being so easy to overwrite makes this feel SO MUCH EASIER.
I only started with saving and loading checkpoints but in just a few days I also managed to make the saved checkpoint reset on exiting a level so you just go back to the start of the level which is what I didn't do last time on the 3D project. Although with the way i have it set up I'll still need to stop the checkpoint from loading when you simply enter a different room in the same level.

Soooo I forgot to update this blog again, still working on assets but moreso adding more mechanics and enemy types rather than redoing things that already exist in the project for once, like conveyor belts ^_^
#devlog#pocket adventure#its ok im not burnt out on the project im just very forgetful when it comes to making updates

Sorryyyy im always forgetting to add updates to this blog whenever I go back to my projects <:)
I've been thinking since I've created enough assets for the 2.5D platformer that I can start on designing the levels but I feel like before I make any real levels that I should build a proper debug level so I can properly polish the basic gameplay since I feel like it's pretty lacking

I love forgetting about state machines until i see a video about it on youtube and now I gotta relearn how to use those because oh god my game isnt even that big right now yet im letting my scripts have endless ifs and bools from left to right
#devlog#pocket adventure#just another little roadblock i can easily overcome no problem#but i feel like im still wasting time trying to polish my scripts and stuff instead of drawing or brainstorming more ideas😗#oh well better now than later where it could actually get really messy if i dont do anything about it

It takes work to curate your online spaces, but if you don't do it, corporations will do it for you using a couple harmful key principles. 1) Negative emotions hold your attention better than positive emotions. 2) Calm/contented people are less likely to spend money.

I finally started using godot 4 but before i jump into Doggo World and converting that I’ve been trying to make a smaller game for it for once just to get used to it let alone godot itself again
