If You’re an Editor, This Might Help You Shift.
So I was trying to shift last night and I got super close. My heart was racing, I couldn’t breathe, and everything felt SO real. But then I panicked, tried to calm down, and the moment slipped away. I ended up giving up. :/
But then someone said something that actually clicked with me and I wanted to share it, especially if you’re an editor like me. It hit deep into my soul and made me realize something:
Shifting is like rendering an edit.
When you’re editing, you get the clips, do the coloring, add the effects, mark the beats—everything’s in place. You hit “render” and everything should come together, right? But sometimes your program crashes halfway, or your laptop bugs out. That doesn’t mean you ruined the whole project. You didn’t fail. The work you’ve done is still there, saved, and you just have to open it again and render it once more. It usually goes smoother the next time because the system has already processed all that info.
And that’s exactly what happened with me. I didn’t fail. I just panicked mid-render. Now, I’m going to try again, and next time, it’ll go all the way.
So if you’re feeling like you gave up, just remember: Don’t restart the whole process. Just keep rendering. It’s not over. 🖤
