Novi Stars Ali Lectric had intentionally asymmetric hair, so that's why I thought it wasn't completely out of the realm of possibility that it was like that on purpose
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I discovered a part in her hair and was able to sorta get it back into place.
But her hair is way longer on our right 😅 I'll try to cut it if I can summon some bravery. I'm not skilled at cutting any semblance of straight, myself ...
Tumblr media
I thought maybe the scalp was rotated and the part was supposed to be in the middle? But I couldn't budge it. I don't know much about Blythes. YET.
I did learn today that Popmart did a new Blythe size recently sorta in between Middie and Petite, that has real functioning eyes and I think they're adorable. Good thing they're too tiny for me. Yes. Too small, that's the ticket.

It would probably look more layered if it had been a cut-off ponytail.
I initially thought it was supposed to look like that, but I found listings for the same model on eBay and now I'm leaning toward "these dolls just have really bad stock hair cuts"

I found the original photo, and it has an "RA" watermark that's been cropped off in the OP, and found another photo obviously from the same shoot here, where you can see that it was taken by RetroAtelier Photography, a retro/vintage-themed photo collective that started in Ukraine in 2008, but whose website does not currently exist (uh...probably for understandable reasons)

So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
Reblog to increase sample size!

Dove Soap has an advertising campaign now that is centered on anti-AI sentiment.
I'm sure some people would say "Good! That means there are enough of us to matter to greedy corporations!"
Dove has been disingenuously trying to sell the idea of natural beauty by using their specific products for a very long time now
So my conclusion is that they mostly see the anti-AI market as an easy mark. Becoming a market segment is not good.
(also the ad I've seen uses a cover of Pure Imagination, and I can't tell if it's supposed to be saying that the generated images represent the world of pure imagination, or if the world of imagination is the diversity Dove is using to sell things. Either way, it feels like a weird use of that song.)

why do people keep saying 'enthusiast' like this with air quotes. this is like the fifth person that's accused me of being an ai 'enthusiast'. the term you're looking for is 'ai researcher' or maybe 'ai engineer', given that the latter is my actual job title. i do this shit for a living! i am not some linkedin frat boy in san francisco, i actually build shit and i have been building shit since before anyone on this godforsaken site has even heard the word 'GPT-2'. really weird!

My French is not great, and I'm trying to think of how you would spell something in French that might be pronounced anything like "mighty"--all I'm coming up with right now is "mailleti" and that's still not very close.
Just checking.... We all pronounce Miette like My-TAY in our heads, right?

I have stated in the past that one of the keys to sewing well is learning how to deal with mistakes
because you will always make mistakes
Granted, what you consider a mistake may change as your skills advance
but no amount of advanced skills will eliminate mistakes
It's fine.
I say this because I finished a shirt yesterday--or, rather, thought I had finished it yesterday, and I was so thrilled with how I did pattern matching where the front bands attached to the shirt fronts...that I failed to notice how the rest of the prints would align
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I understand that some people may not see this as a mistake. I have seen garments on pattern envelopes with similar print repeats on either side of a seam or opening, and I have no problems with that. This, however, is something I deeply dislike in things that I make.
I despaired, thought about it a while, and realized that I had enough of this fabric left that I could, with fiddliness and annoyance, remove and replace the upper front band. I had to cut and remove a lot of stitching, and work around the buttonhole in the neck band that I refused to remove, and there are awkward elements present now, but no-one is ever going to get close enough to see, and now I have a shirt that is obnoxious in a fun way instead of a "You Made A Mistaaaaaaake" way
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some mistakes you live with, and some you rip apart and stitch back together.

I was kind of dreading this repaint because Dayna Treasura Jones is such an esoteric concept for a doll that I didn't really know how I would have approached her base doll. I did play around with the idea of using a Cedar Wood's body and having her be either a ships figure head come to life or she's the literal treasure chest, but when I was doing my G2 customs I was using the base dolls so I figured I would use hers too.
Since she's vaguely treasure and star themed, I decided to make her more treasure like. I hated how the gold skin looked with the blonde hair, so I used silver synatra from @customdollhairAU to add some contrast while keeping the metallic nature of her concept.
I also painted her eyes to be faceted gemstones, and omitted the stars on her face as the sculpted constellations clashed with them.
I went with a monochromatic dark look for her since she's such a saturated and bright colour scheme for me.
Probably not in my list of favourite characters but she's more my taste.
