I found some (very) old pictures of the pirates diorama thing I recently discarded as part of a short/reel. I took them in 2006, so yes, that qualifies as an old project. Made from plywood and one of my favorite materials back then - plaster bandages. All those years I never managed to finish it properly, and when the masts broke at some point, there was not much reason left to do it. What better way to ease back into the content game than with a professionally drilled hole in a 3d printed sacrum. It'll still work for the intended project, and I also want said project out the door or the workshop because it has been hanging out there for years now. Today I did some shop maintenance. Among other things, I placed the single stage dust thing (second image) into an old wooden barrel to use for non wood stuff, while relaxing it on my main bucket with a 3d printed two stage one. First attempt at making something vaguely like a product. Stock owl on acrylic, stick in a cheap light thing (which can do the classic rgb things). Working on a few ideas to make this more interesting, while also diving deeper into the laser - at least that's the idea. Also apologies for the lack of content recently. Between holidays, kids, and headspace issues, I didn't get much shop time recently. I am working on a video, and I have several ideas I wish I could would work on. Mushroom update: what I think is happening here is that after losing the first round mostly to lack of moisture, I am getting a second flush here despite not having removed the first one. Still many things to be sorted out with this, but at least something is growing. Another part of the Oldest House, this is the research sector. With a big part missing (the ashtray maze if you must know). Now I'm thinking about laser-cutting the basic floor pieces and 3d print some more complex structures, like the maze, the quarry, etc. Not sure about the size either. I do not want the final thing to be too large, but I also do not want to have to fiddle with tiny rooms too often. Finally, I got to continue working on the Loki tree. This project/idea has been sitting on my desk for way too long, especially since it helped me realize that I still enjoy painting. I'll add that to my "do more of once you sort out your time management" list. You know how it goes. Why yes, I traced and printed the Executive sector of the Oldest House from the game Control. As one does. The idea is to print the whole house, which happens to be a strange construct that can grow new rooms and change on a whim. My goal is to create a Control diorama, because I'm a sucker for dioramas and did not have my fix in ages. On the other hand, I have no idea whether this will work. I have printed this in layers, and that seems to work for now.
