donna said that rose would move on if she died while traveling, mourn her yes, but continue living. shaun wouldn’t move on, return to where the tardis took off every single day. and wilf wouldn’t ever leave the spot.

which one of them would realize that it’s the not-donna first? would it even be possible to catch the not-thing in its mimicry?

i think if so, if it’s never a 100% mental or emotional copy, only a 100% physical copy, that sylvia would be the first. why? arguments. when humans argue, we’re not thinking of only one thing. we’re thinking on why we’re mad now, connecting it to previous times we’ve been mad, making a case to support our emotions, and emotions are never clear cut. i think that the first argument where sylvia bites at not-donna and gets a single minded response, it would raise a red flag for her.

what i learned after wild blue yonder is that my brother isn’t sure that he would be able to tell me apart from a no-thing unless that no-thing became too caring at him in a moment of stress instead of pushing him to move on with it. i think i’d be able to tell him apart immediately bc he has adhd and is always believing and thinking more than five things at a time. my best friend didn’t care to enjoy the hypothetical but i think i’d tell them apart too if anything thanks to them being non-binary, the add is icing on the cake. we all agree that my boyfriend would be the most likely to believe a no-thing but he is clinically gullible so he’s forgiven.

i dont think neither the metacrisis nor the doctor's mind is actually gone from donna.

the not-doctor and not-donna were becoming individual copies of them, not sharing the knowledge of both, by the point that they were in the captain's area. they know what their individual knows. and yet it's both the not-doctor and the not-donna that are hitting the buttons and taking out the wires to undo the doctor's locks on the door. meaning that donna knows. inside her mind, in her dna, there is still the doctor's mind and his knowledge that the not-donna was able to do exactly as the doctor would -- or as the doctordonna would, better said.

as well when the doctor asks donna if she can remember anything that has happened to him since their split, she says it's too much to look into. meaning, it is there. it's there, in her mind, in a way that is reachable for her to explore, but she doesn't as she knows it hurts and would hurt worse. the metacrisis and all the doctor's knowledge, contained now rather than overwhelming and changing her.

loving how everyone is pointing out how heartbroken the doctor was that donna still/currently thinks of herself as no one/not special. but it does seem like a bit of collective amnesia that literally on their first meeting he said to her face “you're not special, you're not powerful, you're not connected, you're not clever, you're not important.” like hm yknow. i think that just like everything else from their time together seeping through her subconscious, that might be there a bit.

before the specials i always just thought that like donna had won a decent million. like idk ten million yknow? that's a lot of money, more money than i could ever achieve in ten lifetimes. but no. she won even more than that. 166 million. what the fuck.

overall loved the special. the pacing is so much better. the cinematography is so much better. ctate and dt fucking astounding as always. however, i'm pretty much firmly au and will not be adjusting to canon.

re: the Alien Long-term Immersion Assistance System ( aka ALIAS )

in 2012, roughly about a year after getting her memories back and having worked in various freelance / consultant opportunities, donna decided that too many alien agencies weren’t able to dedicate enough time + resources to properly allow peaceful aliens to live on earth when they were unable to be sent back to their origin planet / time for whatever reason. thus, after much work w legal + other dept, timely done proposed ALIAS ( which shares many qualities with the human immersion assistance system that was part of the company’s beginnings ) on a contractual basis.

the primary mission of ALIAS is to evaluate the skill sets, talents, and any disabilities that alien refugees have in relation to accomplishing a peaceful and minimum impact immersion with earth society. these evaluations are done in cooperation with the alien agency’s corresponding team + TD’s own educational / behavioral / alien experts.

the secondary mission of ALIAS is to provide materials and in-person assistance for actually starting and keeping their immersion successfully. this could mean teaching the human languages that they'll be using per the identity that their country of landing's alien agency gives them ( if the alien agency is unable to do themselves or simply prefers to have TD take charge on it ). it also would include other “smaller things” such as pop culture education to allow them the ability to socialize and form healthy relations within human communities.

TD doesn't provide housing assistance or any of the other TD benefits within ALIAS, that is typically up to the actual government agency to provide. but should an alien have the skill sets + talents that would be useful for a company TD has a contract with, or even TD corporate, they will be given the job opportunity to join TD. aka yes it also works as something of a recruitment drive when they are assisting these government alien agencies.

the idea to start up her own company was not something that came out of the blue. it was an idea that started about roughly four months after winning the lotto, when she’d already paid off the second mortgage on her parent’s house, her credit card debts, paid in full for 2 new cars (for her, and for sylvia), put aside enough for her second degree, and most importantly paid in full for her and shaun’s new house. and still... she had much more money than she knew what to do with without guilt creeping around the corner.

wilf suggested she donate it. shaun told her to keep it in savings for a rainy day. sylvia said to invest and save. none of that really fit, and when she said she wanted to help others with it, she couldn’t narrow down a cause. there were so many people that could use the money, she could very well just donate as she’d like to individuals and carry on. 

she did that for about two months and stopped when it started to feel too stressful. not to mention that now she had all these tax forms to fill out for all her donations.

it’s when she’s talking to nerys one late evening then it finally takes shape. some of nerys’ friends were having trouble finding new jobs, be it that they lacked workforce skills or that they didn’t know where to start looking. donna had suggested they go to a temp agency, and nerys had laughed at her because c’mon donna being a temp isn’t going to really help anyone.

from that conversation on, donna couldn’t stop thinking about how she would make sure an agency did help. to help make temp jobs into permanent jobs, to help give people the stability that would set the track for a better life. like many other endeavors in her life, spite was a very big drive for all the hours of research she did until she finally booked an appointment with an attorney to make things serious.

shaun had been surprised but supportive when he found out. sylvia had seemed uneasy but not as judgmental as she’d been expecting. wilf had been her biggest cheerleader, and she found herself spending many more nights out on the hill as she spoke about the technicalities that kept popping up. with their teas and laughs keeping them warm, donna would look up in the sky and feel something, a reminder that this was right, this was going to really help more than one-time donations or giving to some faceless non-profit. and perhaps, most importantly, most selfishly, this was going to be HERS.

and after a month of steady advertising, in october of 2010, TIMELY DONE LLC began its operations with one office so bursting with activity that donna almost wept.
