everyone is always acting like there is some crisis of human interaction with one another because everyone is overly sensitive to how strangers approach them and like. no actually its because nobody has any fucking manners. social etiquette has legitimately vanished. it makes interacting with strangers miserable because people don’t know how to fucking behave in public.

like it is rude to stare. it is rude to point. it is rude to have a loud phone conversation in a quiet place. it’s rude to listen to music or videos or whatever on your device with no headphones on a loud volume, or at any volume in an enclosed or quiet space. these are rude things to do. like i’m sorry while some etiquette is silly, an acceptable level of decorum is necessary to make existing in public bearable for everybody…….it is LITERALLY common courtesy

How to ruin everything ever:

A decently large group of fanfic writing friends, evenly numbered.

Names of everyone in the group go into a hat (use one of those website ones, easy).

You draw two (put your own name back, ya nasty).

You have to write a shipping fic of those two friends. Get them together, bitch, they’re in love now.

All fics shared at the end, anonymously (if you’re all cowards).

personally i would read the psychological thriller based on the horrific events that transpire at the fanfic retreat

I swear, the way people talk about technology growth like it’s impossible to keep up with. Guys, there are so many people in their 70’s 80’s 90’s who can use their iPhones like pros, who understand 2-factor, who love the new tech. And I know a LOT of twenty-somethings who hate all of it and refuse to get on board until they are forced. Those twenty-somethings will always be this way unless they actively change their attitude. And those older folks will stay on top of this until their brains literally fail them.

It’s attitude and approach. Things change. That’s how it is. And it is changing faster, yes. You will get left behind, confused and mad, if you aren’t paying attention and aren’t trying the new things.

A tiny, inconsequential example is tiktok. I’m mid-30’s and about half my friends use it and half don’t. The half that do understand Gen z and alpha lingo, know current music and celebrities, and other little things. They aren’t huffing about kids today, aren’t mad about technology. But the friends who are not on tiktok fall into several groups—I left tiktok to save my time expenditure, some aren’t interested, and some brutally refuse to touch it out of spite. Not sure who they’re spiting. And these spiteful ones are, in fact, the same friends who bemoan changing tech.

Don’t act like it’s impossible to keep up, don’t scare people with “it’ll happen to YOU” because it’s really just people not liking change, not understanding, not wanting to understand, and insisting it isn’t their fault.

Psst, the kids who bitch about old tech are the same problem. It’s not old and weird and hard. It’s different and you’re embarrassed not to understand it so you’re throwing it under the bus.

God, everyone sucks.

I imagine he didn't hunt Harry down in book 2, but later found out that Harry had been left behind, and so every year following he HAD to make sure Harry had made it to the train. If he hadn't, he would have conveniently "tattled." So if the Dursley's had ever actually kept Harry from going, you bet Draco would have been the first to bang down the door.

You know how Draco visited Harry’s train compartment at the start of books 1, 3, 4, and 5? I want a story about a Slytherin who is insecure and unsure of themselves. Who has the ambition but fights depression which holds them back. Who wants to be a prefect but is too shy to tell anyone. Who has goals to be the best but doesn't want to come off as arrogant. Who has no idea how to go about achieving their lofty dreams? How about a Slytherin who isn't overtly proud? Who isn't cold?
