what often gets me is that you really don’t have to make shit up to criticize israel truthfully and effectively. the israeli government has done plenty heinous shit to criticize throughout its existence. instead you often see conspiratorial statements like, “spotify released this year’s wrapped to distract everyone from israel” or “israel caused the LA fires” or somewhat recently “the groupchat whistleblower left the groupchat to make sure america bombed yemen because he’s an evil zionist” . hello! these statements are not only antisemitic, but also not how anything on this entire earth works.

this is when antizionism becomes antisemitism: all three statements reinforce the millennia-old belief that jews secretly control all world events and are otherwise deceitful evildoers with bad intentions always. ask yourself who exactly these conspiracy theories are benefitting and why it’s not real-life palestinians. and perhaps fucking refrain from sharing unverified information. that’s one (1) small way you can stop yourself from contributing to the rise of antisemitism in the world today! thanks ever so much

i feel like it's absolutely crucial in the social justice world to take "he a little confused but he got the spirit" and similar sentiments/situations as a Win. intent is so much more important than saying it right the first time! if someone is approaching with scuffed language and incorrect terms but they're visibly being as polite as they know how, that person is a friend and should be treated better than what their words might invite in someone else's mouth.

That must sound so bad out of context. No it's this Tiktok meme where, if you're a girl and you do something dumb, you say 'Women don't deserve voting rights teehee.'"

And you'll be like, "That sounds bad." And she'll be like, "No no. It's totally not that bad. It's just a meme. Men say it too. Like if a man does something silly he'll be like, 'I am like those women who do not deserve to vote.'" And you'll be like, "Does that make it better?" And she'll be like, "Well there was one guy who tried to make 'Men shouldn't vote' a popular meme. But it never caught on and also he got yelled at a lot."

And then you drop it there because like, you're harshing the vibe.
