a lot of people care more about being called or perceived racist than actually being racist. that's why people (incorrectly, based on their own privileged perspective) consider calling random tumblr users "racist" without citation an effective way to slander them; they're under the (again, incorrect & privileged) assumption that everybody just immediately listens to accusations of racism and shuns anybody even next to the word. but the truth is, in the real world, the majority of people are in fact quite racist and are willing to dismiss accusations of racism without a monumental & oftentimes unattainable amount of evidence.

additionally, this is why it is used to effect against trans women (especially trans women of color being called 'white' to shut them up) -- a lot of people don't care for evidence when hearing criticisms against trans women, they're just ready to believe them pointblank to reaffirm the discomfort they already have with us as transfems. this is especially nauseating because it muddies the water in regard to legitimate conversations about racism within the trans community, which is actually a major fucking problem that needs to be addressed outside of harassment campaigns & rumour mills.

The people who go "well who's going to look after you when you're old?" when you say you're not having kids are breathtakingly naive. Our next-door neighbour, somewhere in her mid-80s, has a son, grandkids, and a grear-granddaughter, and who's the one she calls when she needs help, and checks that she's not spending christmas alone? Me and my boyfriend.

Having kids is irrelevant if the answer to that question is still going to be "the mentally ill faggots next door."
