I did actually try to start something like that in 2022 ?? or 2023. Maybe I will return to it. I actually would love to do a like, entire texture pack in a way but that would be a lot of work...

I'm so glad someone else isn't glazing TDA it looks so bad everyone I've talked to about it has just gone "dude he has a MECH and a CHAINSAW SHIELD"

For the most part I saw a lot of hopeful interest. I was pretty vocal in my own circles about how little interest I had so the 'glazing' was a minimum but also for the people i KNEW were interested in the game, they've come away confused and even a little disappointed. I feel the worst about that honestly, DA is by no means a BAD game - story aside - but it being just kinda wishy washy sucks. It doesn't have an indentity like '16 or Eternal did.

I was never going to play Dark Ages, mostly just cuz I can't fuckin run it lol but also just cuzI wasn't interested - but to watch reviews and learn about the gameplay choices and hard story shift has me more confused than anything. Spoilers under the cut.

Shoving the story aside for a sec here, I think the thing easily baffling me the most is the level design. What do you mean open ended? Even just watching the chopped up review footage there is so, so much dead time just wandering around I do not know what ID was thinking. Completely antithetical to any DOOM that has existed. I LIKE the potential of the more open arenas, especially since DA wants you to be constantly closing those gaps but then why, why have the player walking fighting nothing? I think id course corrected far too hard with the combat as well, I like the melee-parry system they introduced, I read that has just naturally being the step up from the stun rework Eternal's DLCs had, but without the very specific lock and key type enemy design that eternal had, I feel like DA is just going to be a hack and slash, a button masher almost. Do you even really need the guns? I barely saw the guy use them in the review footage. DA could've really benefited from a sort of pseudo slaughter map style combat puzzle arrangement to it's level design I think. Not in the way where you're save scumming but. If you're going to be that open, if you're going to be about close quarters, I think it really should've had more of a focus on picking and choosing your battles. Eternal was... intense. For me. I struggled with the coordination the game asked of me with weapon switching, but I understood that it was still done right. DA just seems... easy. The story I am chosing to just black out over entirely. It looks bad, I don't care. ZZZZ. The music being kinda mid can't be helped either. I never, never in a million years, thought it would've been the GAMEPLAY of all things that i'd've had the most to say about in a DOOM game??? Like I said, i'm confused!

The original doom was full of demons and crosses etc because it's was edgy, but metal album art aesthetics aren't edgy anymore. Nobody is gonna accuse Doom: The Dark Ages of being satanic in a bad way or blame it for school shootings. They need to step their game up. Doomguy has to transition. And then she has to get really good at tennis.
