You are good at seeing what’s funny, at relaxing and finding the pleasure of the moment. Play is random, whimsical, fantasy-driven behavior which releases internal tension. Because it is detached from some pressures it allows you to act on weirder, perhaps neglected, parts of yourself. The downside is that it is no help in sticking with things that are not much fun but which need to be addressed. So it is well complemented by its opposite, Stoicism.

[Sometimes you have an idea for a commission. Then you tell the artist about the characters and after giving it some thought, they go, “hey, don’t you think something like this would be a better idea?”

And it is better. The first sketch looks so in character it’s uncanny. And every new WIP is a joy.

This, my peeps, is what it feels like working with Yshiara. In all honesty, I feel super lucky every time we get to work on a new commission! Almost as lucky as Kaidu feels every time he sees how beautiful his noodle is.

Of The Stalwart Shield

[Leaving aside the unholy screeching for a moment (but boy did I yell a bit when I first saw this.), there is a funny story behind this. My friend @swygmerl was over my house, sitting exactly next to me- And yet I did not see her commission the very, very talented @divinedespair. I even helped her by showing her the Paladin gearset, but I was so distracted (and she was very good at changing subjects quickly) that I just didn’t notice.

So this was a magnificent surprise. And it arrived in a time in which I really needed a cheer me up ;v; My verily grumpy lizard looks simply STUNNING in her style and oh-so-serious- Unlike his twin brother ( @doppelgentler ) who looks so, so very different… Yet so similar, right? ;D You’ve done an AMAZING job, I can only blabber and yell over how beatiful my boy looks ;v;

I thank both my very dear friend and the artist (Go check her page out! SHE’S A GREAT ARTIST.) who offered me something quite as beautiful as this. Thank you.]

The Shadow

[Do you know what’s even better than commissioning a wonderful portrait of your character? It’s looking at the final piece and seeing how the artist simply NAILED his vibe. It’s not just about the right looks, there’s soul here - but then again, @divinedespair is just that awesome! 

And you can’t have a Himaa without his twin, right? Bro @doppelgangry got his portrait as well, and it’s just as perfect! ;D]

RESIDENCE: Still a bit too much of a nomad, setting camp or renting a room wherever his blades are needed. Has been spending an ungodly amount of time in the Black Shroud, though. MARITAL STATUS: Single (but taken, kind of engaged). ALIGNMENT: Chaotic good DRINK: Fermented milk. But let’s pretend it’s ale. FOOD: Steak. Ribs. All sorts of meat. DAY OR NIGHT: He is the night. (No, he’s just a dork. Still, night.) SNACKS: Dried meat, though he wouldn’t pass some chocolate. PET: Altansarnai, his most faithful chocobo - or “my girl”, as he often calls her. COLOR: Black, purple, all shades of blue. FLOWER: Any flower that looks good on his lover’s hair. SEXUALITY: (mostly) heterosexual ROMANTIC ORIENTATION: (mostly) heteroromantic   BODY TYPE: Muscular yet not too buff. Fire in your eyes, fire in your hearts, Steeled as you sound the horns of war

So, this is it. Stormblood is about to come and thus I thought it would be a good time to make a post with the children I’ll be first taking to Gyr Abania and through the Azim Steppes.

Without further ado, these are the characters I managed to carry through all of the MSQ so far:

Silent Sea ( @swygmerl​ ): Hellsguard fighter who, following the ways of her people, left the tribe in Abalathia’s Spine and headed south, making her living with blacksmithing first, then as arms for hire. Sworn to fight under Flame General Aldynn – for she is loyal to no army, but to those few who earn her respect –, she has her eyes now set on the liberation of Ala Mhigo. Soon enough, however, her heart might compel her to cross the ocean and fight for her lover’s homeland. For that is how they met, and that is how they will live, until the very end.

Mana Akagi ( @hakuchounowakare​ ): The eldest child in a family of tutors and scholars, the Raen was forced to leave Doma as Garlemald struck their attempt at rebelling. Behind her, a trail of corpses – from friends to relatives, to the point she assumed to be the only one left in her family. Only hatred and a death wish kept her going when she reached the shores of Eorzea, and a most ironic twist of fate led her to find succor in Ishgard, of all places. Now, however, it’s time to go back home and light that fire once more.

P’ahro Tia ( @magickedsands​ ): Once a deserter set on proving his worth without complying with tribal traditions, this Seeker of the Sun traveled across Eorzea to further develop his innate affinity for magicks. Now well versed in the old arts of Mhach and delving deeper into those of Amdapor, he tends to ignore his pride’s yearnings. If anything, all he longs for now is a journey alongside his partner, no matter where it takes him.

Kaidu Himaa ( @doppelgentler​ ): As the tension brought by the Empire’s presence started changing the atmosphere in the steppes, these Himaa twins decided to try their luck across the ocean – Oyuun leading, Kaidu following, as it always had been. The trials and tribulations met in Eorzea forced him to follow his own path, though; one that often proved to be most unlikely. And while it’s hardly home, he owes much to this odd land. Still, the battle drums call, and the Himaa never walk away from a fight.

[For the ‘I have more alts than one may think’ project, part ???/??? This is Fiorrex Nietierre. Wildwood lad with terrible confidence issues that just wants to be a bard and sing about heroes and lost and found loves. He likes making origamis and writing just about anywhere, probably spends too much time taking care of his hair and has soft cheeks.
