30: How is your heart lately? “so messy… so, so messy. it also feels as if it’s been snapped to pieces, too. there’s so many things that have broken my heart in the last year or so. i don’t even know if i can fix it.”

11: Could you go for the rest of your life without drinking alcohol?“yeah, i could do it. i just don’t want to, if i don’t have too. seems like the only thing getting me through some of the not-so-great days…”

23: Have you ever been to Paris?“my parents took me a few times! i always loved going on holiday as a child, and paris was nice! i went to a few of the art museums over there, and they were nice to peruse. i hope i can go back one day!”

24: Are you good at hiding your feelings?“i try to hide them, i have never been sure if i was good at it or not. i think my face is just full of expression.

25: Do you use chap stick?“yes, i do! whenever my lips are chapped. i also put it on before i do any lipstick or lip gloss.”

8: Honestly, has anyone seen you in your underwear in the past 3 months?“i don’t usually walk around in my underwear. i do when i sleep, sometimes, and mary and i have ran into each other before. we’re both girls and best friends, so i don’t really care.”

18: Hold hands with anyone this week? “i was hanging out with mary the other day, and we were holding hands then!”

28: What is something you currently want right now? “to get a good night’s sleep.”

38: Love really is a beautiful thing huh?“i… suppose so. i have only found it to be painful at the moment. hurts my heart a lot.”

48: Would you rather sleep with someone else or alone?“i only have on person on my mind, and it’d beat sleeping alone any night.”

dorcas held her hands together, feeling a little too nervous as the cafe she had started to frequent more was quite busy today. there were barely any seats open and none of her friends! fortunately, she did see a somewhat familiar face, at least, she thought it was alastor moody. they hadn’t been in the same year, had been a few years older than her but she had heard about some of the stuff he could get up to. 

she heard he was a good guy.

so, she made her way over to his table. there was an empty chair at his, that he was using to prop his feet up but it had been the only free chair that wasn’t currently being occupied by someone. she stood, a little awkwardly but tried to get her wits about her and just ask if she could sit there. 

“there’s no tables available.” she began, “do you mind if i used your chair?” her voice was soft and sweet, and she pointed to the one his feet were on. “i won’t bug you! i just want to drink some tea.”

   ‘Like clockwork’, Alastor mused to himself. Every Tuesday at exactly 12:45 a couple that looked fairly un-couple-like would meet at the same cafe. He had chosen different manners of double-checking this fact; since if he himself was just also sitting there, like today, every Tuesday then he ran the risk of the pair noticing and relocating. Today though the young man sat with a copy of the Daily Prophet and a scone he was eating for the sake of looking otherwise occupied. To his dismay the scone had a layer of a too-sweet frosting on it, but he was diligently taking bites despite himself. 

“Hogwash,” Alastor muttered over an article on the front page of the paper. Too split focused between fitting-in and carefully watching his target to notice how slim the table pickings around them were getting. His feet propped up, ankles crossed, in what was the vacant seat across from him. It was only when the shadow of another human was cast over Alastor that he’d broke his concentration, squinting up at them like he’d been in the dark and they were shining a flashlight in his face. “Er– can I help you with somethin’?”

dorcas walked the streets, having a day off and wanting to catch some air. well, she had only been out for maybe twenty minutes and had enough air and exercise for the rest of the week. she didn’t particularly like going outside, not with the whole war that was brewing. dorcas felt paranoid easily, plus she didn’t want the chance of running into people from her old life - it hurt too much. she dreaded ever seeing him, again.

her eyes caught sight of a familiar red head, who seemed to be digging around in the trash can. dorcas found this peculiar, but lily probably would have an explanation for it once asked. she approached her friend, a small smile on her face and her eyes darting from the garbage bin and back to her friend. she couldn’t help the giggle that came out of her mouth as her best friend tried began to talk. 

“what is it that you are doing, lily?” she questioned, a small tilt to her head.

It was days like this that made Lily question why she ever wore heels. She had planned to spend the day in the office compiling her notes and starting to draft her latest story. As soon as she had brewed her coffee and sat down at her desk to write, one of her more unreliable sources had sent her an owl describing suspicious activity in Diagon Ally. 

Lily had left the office and apparated to The Leaky right away. She quickly identified her suspect at a tiny little cafe and started following him. He kept choosing cobblestone paths on the older side of the neighborhood which made Lily’s heels stick in the cracks. “Honestly,” she thought to herself, “Why hasn’t someone solved this problem with magic already?” 

Lily was never very good at configuring shoes without making them too small for her feet. And anyways, she didn’t have time if she wanted to stay on her suspect’s trail. She quickly slid her heels off, shrunk them, and stuck them in her pocket. Her suspect had turned a corner, and when Lily followed she was a little too close. The wizard must have been spooked because he threw something in the trash and ran off. 

Lily approached the trash can and started digging inside it to try and find what the stranger had dropped. She was so focused she didn’t hear footsteps coming until she could see shoes out of the corner of her eye. “Oh….” she said, a bit breathlessly, “Uh…” she glanced down at her own bare feet, then to the trash can where her hand still was, and then back up to finally make eye contact, “I promise, this isn’t what it looks like…” she finished, standing up straight and removing her hand from the trash can.

dorcas let the other woman take her food, a smile on her face. she walked slowly into the tonk’s home, and took in the sight. it was such a homey house, and dorcas instantly felt welcomed there. she followed andromeda into the dinning area and saw that it was all set up. “andy, your house is so cozy!” she told her, turning to her friend and grabbing her hands. “i am so glad you have gotten this life.” she was so happy for andromeda.

“thank you,” she beamed, running her hands down the front of her dress. she hadn’t dressed up in awhile, and thought this might be a good opportunity to try out the new dress she had bought. it was a flowery red dress, comfy but also pretty. “i thought tonight would be an excuse to bust out this new dress i bought.”

“a drink sounds wonderful. do you have any wine?” she asked, and her gaze turned to the flowers on the wall. they were beautiful and dorcas said so to andromeda. she followed her friend to sit on the couch and let out a sigh. “i think i was happier at hogwarts, honestly, andy.”
