Part 2 Norm x fem avatar

Warnings: slight gore

Getting grounded

Max, Norm and Jake where stood on the edge of high camp next to the chopper. Jake and Norm both packing essentials including weapons and ammo. Max with a tablet in hand was triple checking the co-ordinates he was given by the mystery sender where correct.

Max: "Less than 3 hrs left until operation sky drop, which I hope is more than just a goose chase"

Jake: "It's also been less than 3 minutes since you've reminded us"

Max: "I would also like to remind you that I've been the one deciphering the messages from our supposed ally night and day for months"

Max barely breathed between words.

Norm: "Hey! Woah..Max we appreciate how you've made this mission possible, Jake give it a rest okay. Soon we will hopefully not be walking right into a trap set up by the RDA".

Jake: "And if it is a trap?"

Norm: "That's what the explosives and guns are for".

~ 2 hours later

Norm linked up, Jake, two other avatar drivers and the human pilot of the chopper scanned the horizon of a dried out patch of land they where headed for. Before the ground became completely bare there was one last line of trees well over 100 years old. Perfect cover to hide the chopper. "Okay now set her down easy" Jake yelled to the human driving the metal bird. As Norm fiddled with some equipment to help  zone in on the drop, Jake and one of the other avatar drivers jumped onto the ground to aid land the chopper.

The group was packed up and ready making there way to the edge of the tree line. In the distance Jake could see what looked like an abandoned military camp with 3 trailers joined together. The was no sign of movement, not even a cloud of dusted kicked up from the dry and lifeless ground.

Norm: "So....what now?"

Jake: "this can't be it? There's 2 minutes left till the drop maybe we are waiting for another trailer or vehicle to show up".

Norm: "The exact co-ordinates Max gave us are exactly where that camp is Jake! Maybe he's in there waiting for us".

The look Jake gave as he scanned the camp reaked of distrust.

Jake: "Okay everyone, be ready. The second this goes down hill make a break for the forest and don't turn back"

On their way towards the camp, a few feet away from some discarded tents, the sound of soldiers marching echoed in the distance. Jake signaled for everyone to take cover behind the tents as the squad of around 12 men stood between them and the forest. "So much for a quiet in and out job" Norm mumbled. His height put him at a huge disadvantage, he lost his balance trying to take the shape of a human tent. Perhaps it was the noise he made or some rocks that flung themselves from beneath his feat. Something got the soldiers attention and they where heading right for the base, and the group.

Norm: "F*ck

Jake: "right we are out of options, on my count we take them! 3...2..."

Before Jake could finish his count down the door of the first trailer swung open. Behind it stood a woman in a marine uniform, she reached behind her pulling out a large gun. The squad approached her calmly asking her to put down her weapon.

She opened fire....

Before Jake could register what was happening this woman who stood alone had brought down a dozen men. The group was in shock looking around at each other with black faces waiting for someone else to initiate the first move.

Norm was impatient and wanted to get to the bottom of what was going on. Pushing himself off the floor where he previously fell. Dusting himself off he moved closer to the woman. Wasn't long before she noticed his presence. Norm held both hands up, knowing that Jake and the other 2 where watching from behind with fully loaded guns, this was far from a surrendering move.

He got to about 7 feet from her before she ever so slight raised her weapon. "No need for that okay...we are here for pick up" Norm hoped these words would mean something to her.

Finally she spoke "Are you Jake Sully or Norm Spellman?" Her eyes looked him up and down. It was pretty obvious she hadn't interacted with a Na'vi or avatar before. "Norm Spellman, I'm looking for Dr Y/N Wilson. Do you know where he is?"

Her shoulders lowered and breathing became relaxed. Though the look on her face was less than amused. "I'm Dr Wilson". Norm could of turned from blue to red. "My apologies, without sufficient Intel about this whole thing we weren't sure what we where gonna" finally lowering his arms into an open and welcoming potion.

Jake who was listening from behind Norm jumped in "how do we know your telling the truth" his gun fully raised to her face. "Either trust me or shoot me but I don't have the time for you to think about it" Y/N dropped her gun. "Those men where connected to a vital sign reader that transmits those reading right to hells gate, meaning we have less than 15 minutes since they flat lined before more angry soldiers turn up".

Norm looked at Jake with a calm expression with raised brows "so far we are exactly where Max planned for us to be, we just need to get into their base" Jake nodded "Okay Y/N, show us the way". Y/N gestured to the door she originally came through. Once all the avatars had squeezed through it there was a large locked door. Y/N entered a code opening it "all the door codes are 7498 except for the weapons and ammo room which is 9919" she passed a tablet to Norm which had the base map displayed on it.

With only 7 minutes remaining they had managed to move weapons, ammo, food and medical supplies into the trailer containing an RDA lab. Norm yelled to Y/N "The choppers received the signal to come pick trailer D5 up" with no response he made his way over to her. "Hey Y/N you alright?". She was stood over a lifeless woman. Y/N was removing her military uniform and placing it back on the woman.

Pulling the hair tye from her pony tail Norm noticed something interesting about her hair. It was mainly a beautiful dark chestnut brown but at the front two curtains of delicate bright blonde, almost whiteish, hair fell around both sides of her face.

Lastly she removed the dog tag from around her neck and placed it on the now deceased marine. "You know I think out of all of them you deserved this the least" After hearing her say that he knew their was history between them, especially with how carefully she moved the body. "Who was she?" a risky question in this scenario but Y/N calmly answered. "She helped me get here but didn't know it at the time. I took her place so i could leave the lab without being detected, she only took this gig to provide for her family" guilt was plastered on her face, Norm felt a sense of respect for the new ally. Y/N had to make some tough choices to survive and reach Pandora but didn't let it take away from her humanity.

Another 4 minutes had passed and it was time for the great escape. Norm and Y/N where the only ones not on the chopper. They where only a few feet away but could hear RDA air crafts in the distance. Norm being more than twice Y/N's height made it on board first. Reaching his arm out he grabbed Y/N's hand and pulled her up mid take off. Lifting the trailer up they where on their way back to high camp. Y/N face looked panicked while everyone cheered. Norm being the caring man he was tried to comfort her "Woah woah woah...you can relax now, we got everthing and we are headed back to camp. There's no way they could catch up now". Jake also seemed startled by her demeanour and the shakiness of her breathing.

You could see she was in pain as she threw her head back onto the cold metal of the chopper above the seats.

"Do u have a medic back at your base?" she winced as she ripped open the zip at the top of the dust soaked cargos. A huge cut around 7 inches in size was finally exposed on her thigh.

A message from the sky

After so many years cut off from the rest of mankind the scientists of Pandora had never even considered recruiting extra help. Surely no one from RDA territory could be trusted inside their lab with over a decade worth of research in it.

It was the end of the day and Norm had just unlinked from his avatar. As he stepped out of the link bed he turned to Max who was shutting down the equipment for the night. "Hey Max! any new info on that message you've been working on the past couple of months?" Norm yelled across the room. Norm wouldn't usually be so blunt at the end of a long day but with his research not progressing he was looking for a win. Max turned around and sighed "nothing today, but I think I found a way to request further contact without announcing our location". After the whole 'chopper giving away the Sully's location' incident no one was taking any chances. No matter how small.

~ next morning

"I did it!" Max muttered under his breath as the message he spent most of the night recoding got an instant hit. Norm walked through the door after rushing down his breakfast so he could jump straight in the link bed. "Come on Max, we need these beds lit up and working first thing if we are gonna get enough plant samples for testing by noon". Norm said to Max as he walked past him and gave him light pat on the back.

Norm had only just made it over to his link bed when turned to see the smile growing across Max's face. "You need to take a look at this, like right now". Norm looked longingly at his link bed as he closed it but then immediately went to investigate whatever Max was singing about. Max loaded the new messages from this unknown mystery sender. "If you look at these paragraphs I've highlighted not only could we gain an extra scientific mind but they suggested possibly commandeering one of the RDA base camps on the way down here!" Norm's eyes widened as he instantly understood the benefits this would provide for High Camp. "Max if we can make this happen it would mean months worth of supply's" you could here the excitement growing in his tone as he spoke "lab and field gear, weapons and ammunition. I mean this is it the hail Mary we've been waiting for to finally get things moving around here!"

After Norms speech Max knew they were both on board with getting the sender down on the ground

~ a week later

After lots of preparation, getting Jakes approval (as the new comer would ultimately being staying at High Camp) and getting the chopper ready to pull the weight of a RDA trailer up to the floating mountains. They where finally ready!

Norm, linked to his avatar, had been outside lifting deadweight items off the chopper and stocking it up with weapons all afternoon. Eclipse had just finished, he dragged his fingers across the cold metal at the front of the vehicle. "Come on old girl, don't fail us now"
